Cultural barrier? I for one really don’t want to become “King Kong’. Exactly. Thank you for posting that. Exactly. This goes to the core of my problem with the standard translations of the DDJ, the assumption that Classical does not fix one specific meaning to a text. Sigh … it does. But often people don’t want to hear what it says, so prefer to ignore grammar and meaning of words at the time of writing.

I don’t recall there ever was a ‘Straybird’ member on OD. What was your username there? And who are these ‘others’? But that didn’t work on OD. OD imo got closed to end being an outlet for some opinions deemed unacceptable.

What are the mechanics behind chanting?

For me a mantra has to resonate in all my chakras. A sequence from above my head down to below the root chakra, and up again. It’s an elevator, going up and down. -

Why stop there, why not go down to below the root chakra? -
Exactly. That’s the root of all problems, presuming to be on the outside what’s actually on the inside.

Drikung Phowa Chenmo Practice – The Standing Blade of Grass
Cobie replied to Taoist Texts's topic in Buddhist Discussion
That’s been my experience. All systems are mental constructs that can be discarded when the goal has been reached. Sure, it takes grass (pot, weed) -
There never was a time that I did not have abdominal breathing. Also always, knock on wood, excellent health.

Wang Mu - Foundations of Internal Alchemy - The Taoist Practice of Neidan
Cobie replied to Apech's topic in Daoist Discussion
Well I guess it's clear if you know about it. For those like me who don't, I Google-found this: Cyclical path for refining the Elixir, circulation of the internal breath through the 3 Fields. Repeatedly done. * Going upward and downward, East and West join in one body. Descent first. Through the 3 Cinnabar Fields in the front. Withdrawing the Yin response (tui yinfu). Ascent second. Through 3 Barriers in the back. Advancing the Yang Fire (jin yanghuo). Ascent is along the Control vessel, a channel running along the back of the body. "Mount Kunlun" is the top of the head. 3 Barriers, passes (guan), on the back: - behind the brain. Barrier of the Jade Pillow (yuzhen). To do slowly with "gentle fire" (wenhuo) & subtle intent (yi). - across from the heart. Barrier of the Pulley (Lulu), Spinal Handle (jiaji) is luminous - in the lowest section of the spine. Barrier of the Caudal Funnel (weilü). At the junction of Water and Fire. * Laying the foundations. One full cycle is called "clearing the Function and Control vessels" After the formation of the Medicine. Then it's called "Lesser Celestial Circuit". Suddenly a gentle movement begins, and the Divine Water spontaneously flows. https://www.goldenelixir.com/jindan/wm_three_barriers.html -
Some differences I saw between the Guodian and the Wang Bi have made me think there has been a deliberate tampering.
-
Outside the Guodian, the site gave only 1 more sentence: <<老子河上公章句 - Heshanggong Laozi>> 始者道本也,吐氣布化,出於虛無,為天地本始也 @ChiDragon could you please translate this sentence for me?
-
I started learning Chinese two years ago, my aim is to make my own translation of all the Tao Te Ching verses.
-
Could you please post the sentence?
