daytime ascending” However, So why mention the “daytime”? Could 白日 (bright sun) possibly refer to the “body of light”? [ “they could dissolve even their bodies into pure energy and just vanish”; ”permute his physical body into light”] 白日昇天 - body of light ascending to heaven. ~~~ 白 bai2 - white; bright 日 ri4 - sun 昇 sheng1 - ascend 天 tian1 - sky; heaven -

Path to Physical Transcendence (Tian Xian/Paramukta)

I meant to ask something else. Re. daytime ascension (the soul rise from the body during daytime when the sun is up). If I decide to let my soul leave my body, does it matter at what time of the day I decide to leave? Does it have to be in the daytime, when the sun is up? Or can I depart just as well in the nighttime? -

Is it in any way relevant when one lets the soul leave the body? -

DDJ Ch 3 by Henricks (https://terebess.hu/english/tao/henricks.html#Kap03 ): 1. By not elevating the worthy, you bring it about that people will not compete. 2. By not valuing goods that are hard to obtain, you bring it about that people will not act like thieves. 3. By not displaying the desirable you bring it about that people will not be confused. 4. Therefore, in the government of the Sage: 5. He empties their minds, 6. An fills their bellies. 7. Weakens their ambition, 8. And strengthens their bones. 9. He constantly causes the people to be without knowledge and without desires. 10. If he can bring it about that those with knowledge simply do not dare to act, 11. Then there is nothing that will not be in order.

@Taoist Texts Could you please tell me how you do substantiate your claim, “DDJ is a manual for governing a state .. and quite brutally too!”?

Is it in any way relevant if it was bronze or Iron Age? “Since King Qingxiang was the Chu king when Qin sacked their old capital Ying in 278 BC, the Chu slips are dated to around 300 BC.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guodian_Chu_Slips The Iron Age began in China during the Zhou Dynasty's reign around 600 BC, https://study.com/academy/lesson/the-iron-age-in-china.html

A privileged first world citizen, living abroad. I quoted this wrongly: @kino Keep that in mind, and don’t trust a person with lower moral standards than you yourself have.

Indeed. Retired there with a USA pension? Keep that in mind, and don’t trust a person with lower moral standards than you yourself have.

@Taoist Texts Thank you for your reply. (my bold) To be the 其 or not to be the 其 , that is the question. https://www.thedaobums.com/topic/16471-ttc-study-chapter-3-of-the-tao-teh-ching/?do=findComment&comment=578097
