  1. Chanting

Mental recitations seem like a different process to sounded ones, from my perspective. Mentally and biologically at least. Potentially valuable practices; but exercising some separate qualities.
  2. Chanting

My big curiosity about sounded mantra practices comes to this...is there one way you sound the mantra? Do you use your diaphragm, do you just mumble through your throat and mouth? Does it resonate through your body, or just sound in your ears? Pitch changes? Have you a consistent practice here or do such things "take care of themselves "?
  3. Where do you sit?

There's a spot in the vocal booth, and one in the living room. I drag a pillow around the garden in warm weather.

    New snake behavior
  5. Bone broth, ox tail, soups

Bone broth and vegetable stocks have been a big deal in my kitchen for years. In a small company, the players all have more than one role; the young princess chicken this weekend is starring in next weeks soup. The onion skins add color and depth to the broth.

  8. Christianity

The idea that even the gods benefit from Buddhist enlightenment is a central theme in "Journey to the West ", and much of the folk ritual the book is rooted in.
  9. Favorite sacred texts

Part of it was integrating my initial goal into the new frame. My desire to "translate a little Chinese " was part of a trend towards self improvement...towards (here it comes) cultivating myself. Looking at that impulse through a Daoist lense is exhilarating.
  10. Favorite sacred texts

My whole current program started with an interest in the language of those two books, decoding layers of meaning. Phrases like "sitting in forgetting" need to be tried to be translated.
  11. Favorite sacred texts

Towards Laozi, a growing befuddled engagement. A state that Zhuangzi helps foster.
  12. Favorite sacred texts

That's a modern Kung fu movie version of a Chinese folk "hopping zombie" ,the jiangshi. A Daoist would control them with fu, which are paper charms.

More seriously, my interpretation of wisdom...sacred or otherwise...is to be where the vampires aren't. Left the bar before the fight broke out.. Never dated crazy Fred's crazy sister. Didn't eat the bad barnacles (although I did)
  14. Christianity

I've traveled pretty far for some large helpings of bitter. Mountains of it.

    Can't you guys "eat bitter"?

Whatever my levels elsewhere, low level would be an apt description here.
  18. Bija Mantras Practice

Cool. Is this something you would use in that context? Singing along or harmonizing at the bottom of your own vocal range can be relaxing.
  19. Favorite sacred texts

Laozi and Zhuangzi remain close at hand.Fractal ideas.
  20. My library on related topics is sizeable and growing, but my main practice follows Damo Mitchell "A Comprehensive Guide to Daoist Nei Gong" and "White Moon on the Mountain Top". Also working through his very generous YouTube output. Especially strong insight gained from Scott Meredith, "5 G Tai Chi" Tom Bisio "Daoist Sleeping Meditation " William Burt " Tai Chi ; Moving at the Speed of Truth"
