Where to learn neidan/neigong properly ? + How i ended up here
Shadow_self replied to thewheelofortune's topic in Welcome
Neigong is a catch all term to be honest. It can range from everything martial like Taiji/Bagua to the prepatory stages of Neidan What I am saying is Neidan becomes very distinct from Neigong. How you build Qi is one example, but I wont be getting into methods here As regards mental work. To progress in Neidan, there needs to be cataclysmic changes to the psychology. You cannot otherwise Meanwhile, I have seen Masters of Neigong who are deplorable humans. They may have a large degree of skill in energy manipulation, but never overcame the lower parts of their nature, and instead the excess Qi just fuelled it and amplified it further and further Some have ended up deceased as a byprodcut of such things.... -
Indeed, adhering to such things are akin to training wheels. As Antares and Dwai have both pointed out, when the mind is sufficiently stripped back and one gets closer to source, there is no doing of the virtues, they simply arise as a sign of a level of attainment. That is where you operate from at that stage, you radiate the virtues with no thought or deliberate "doing" Until that time, it is wise to adhere in order to help orient onself in that direction

Yes. Neigong and Neidan methods i have been taught to build large volumes of qi for example are quite different The Neigong is more tangible in that regard, the Neidan is more ethereal, and places a far greater degree of emphasis on the mental aspect of training -
Very well put
-
Well actually, you told us Now if only you could tell us about the physical transformations associated, that would be great
-
Full path to attaining the embryo contained within. No need for teachers or lineages. There are no secrets All you need is a book, and something to translate it
-
I lose nothing by them being unable to accept a truth I tend to give everyone a chance until the reasoning becomes as unusual as you've mentioned At that point, I just move on Feel free to post about it in the PPD link we could have a discussion on something thats caught your eye

If you have a disability that affects your balance, you should not really be trying to practice any form of neigong in the short term at least You could perhaps discuss a bit more about the nature of the disability, before such advice is given, otherwise it'd be rather problematic without knowing whats actually going on Starting with Nathan Brines Yin Xian Fa would give you some excellent training in some of the foundational seated work for neidan, while you get a handle on whats going on with balance and how serious it is https://online.nathanbrine.com/courses/intro-to-taoist-alchemy Its important to understand neigong is not neidan. They are VERY different things -
It should give you pause for thought then why there was a Weizza teacher pulling out select students from a monastery in Myanmar (Hint, because its secret) How Theravada ended up in the current state is political, and the subject of Crosbys book (and some others too) Go and ask her about it. Shes definately well versed on the political history of it, if nothing else The types of visualization practices you mentioned are amongst their tradition (And others) There are none in the practice im talking about Actually, they do. You just arent aware of them unfortunately This is basically an argument coming from bounded rationaility. You have incomplete information on the matter To quote lukes earlier point: The thing about secrets is, They're secret Theres are some highly attained indiviuals that amongst many other things that emit visible light as a sign of their attainment that would disagree that it is an open tradition (freeform also mentioned this several times in his tradition) I am not joking, nor being smart, nor being sarcastic. I am being as serious as can be (and already exhausted myself having to explain this to someone else earlier this month) I am aware of far more things that are completely reality bending and mind breaking, but that is not up for discussion unfortunately What you are talking about is the exoteric, public facing tradition. Its not the whole picture (not at all) Im genuinely sorry if thats hard for you to swallow. But that is the reality of the situation, whether you want to accept it or not I have, and everything I said above still stands I you wish to continue, please consider taking it below, though if you are going to insist on making definative claims about a practice and tradition you have no information about, while I'm providing you information that others would be rather glad to get, you might find my reluctance to respond waivers

Thats precisely the point, and precisely what people who arent privvy to these traditions dont understand. These teachings have been deliberately kept away from most of the monastic community. Except a select few Theres actually an account of one person on this board who was literally pulled out of a monastery in Myanmar and brought into one of these "sister" lines of practice. I say sister as its not what I do, but he has some strikinly similar things to say about Jhana, alchemy, transmigration, siddhi, and whats expected of people when they practice The private facing ones are just that.. You can see as mentioned, the majority of the monastics are excluded. You're very welcome to disbelieve me if you want, no problem. It doesnt impact me You're also welome to disbelieve crosbys account of the historical events that took place Sorry, but thats not true. There is no visualization practice in these lines im talking about That is a modern misinterpretations such as the Dhammakaya and various other nonsensical misinterpretations of the fragments left behind It doesnt matter to me, but it doesnt matter because I know what I have access to. Ive seen the proof of it, and thats enough The fact others dont isnt really my concern I just help where people wish for it, and are sincere in asking. Thats all

You're right, I apoligze. Im trying my best to respond but it seems its just driving it further off topic This will be my last response in long form. Whatever topics are of interest to you both, feel free to make new threads and ill elaborate there, but I think it'll be best to stop this long series of posts (its already started in another thread too) In other words, manifestations Its not so much the non thought thats hard. Its the paring away of things that cause excess thought that people struggle with Yes, but its only picking up a portion of the bigger picture. The more subtle aspects (closer to the casual source) remain undetected. The sequence of events leading up to it is of little importance in terms of physiological markers. Its not "brain" activity so much as awareness interacting with the brain (Theres a hint here) Mind is not awareness either I think ive said this so many times at this stage, but the brain acts a step down transformer for conciousness (theres a hint here for the perceptive, but not something ill elaborate on) When it is no longer sent outward via the senses to collect data, then the data analysis starts (life review of the mind) But this is after death, not before or during (the NDE is just a close call really) This is where the more hidden aspects of meditative practice comes into play. High level work with karma and altering the cycle of transmigration, if ones trained to that level The imagery isnt what it is, the imagery is a manifestation of what "it is" (see my above comment on thoughts) Unfortunately what it is, is a little off limits for discussion im afraid The central channel is the same thing in all traditions really All traditions speak of the importance of the heart, they just dont talk about it in the way I have Its definately not for the sake of it, and you do not intentionally do it. Its more a series of causes and conditions put in place to give rise to a specfic result. Alchemically speaking, it works with the Jing Just have a read of this, That'll break it down in as much detail as you need to gain a fairly decent level of engagement with the topic https://www.google.ie/books/edition/A_Comprehensive_Guide_to_Daoist_Nei_Gong/4mpnDwAAQBAJ?hl=en&gbpv=1&printsec=frontcover

One thing you should know about me, is I dont speak on matters related to these topics that I dont have direct experience and knowledge of. Im honest to the point it gets me in trouble (a lot) This book just gives an account into some of how certain lines of practice were pushed away from the public eye. Also none of the writings on this topic even begin to touch the periphials of what some of the non-public lineages teach. I will repeat that. Theres is little to nothing you will find on the non public aspects of these traditions written down. At best you will find scattered bits of practices that remain in pockets, and misinterpretations (like the Dhammakaya). Its just not a public thing and is very hard to access (for good reason too) All you can find in the public about this is only the tip of an iceberg peeking above the water. The real thing is beneath the sea (hidden) and is far more bizarre that you'd be willing to even consider. Far more bizarre than people lighting things on fire with their hands, or sending an electrical current into someone. That would be childs play compared to some of this stuff to be very honest https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_Esoteric_Buddhism Enjoy the rabbit hole, and lets stop derailing the thread now (please)

I dont think its very complex at all to be honest. Though i say that having been in states of "no thought" Try considering what you personally think your own thoughts are (forget the others) Contemplate it for a while, and see what you come up with Right, but what exactly is that EMG is picking up? Electrical activity right? Sure, when the senses seal off, theres no more input and as awareness folds inward upon itself, your mind start to review the accumulated data. It is unable to gather new information, as its tools of accumulation are no longer functional That" tunnel of light " isnt external, its internal. The light is part of the central channel and coming from the middle dan tien, where as I mentioned earlier the mind is linked to (around the heart) Becoming aware of and gaining some degree of governance over it are only part of the practice You also need to learn to be able to generate increasing amounts of it, which is where the real fun begins Thats the basis of neigong training. Sure, just try to find a decent lineage that teaches the Yijinjing and if you get the real thing, qi emission isnt nearly that difficult to encounter as one might think Electromagnetic activity is occuring all the time It gets weird when you can tangibly affect other people There is a lot of baggage around the term MCO. Its a minefield If you open a thread elsewhere, that could be worth discussing theres a few members on here I believe know quite a bit about it You'd be amazed at what happens when the acquired mind and intention steps out of the way and makes way for something far greater to come through Hmm, interesting discussion, but I personally see it as stripping away the acquired mind, which allows things to come through Certainly

They are not im afraid. These systems of practices and methods are definately secret, (though some are scattered around in bits) and really not something I wish to discuss to be honest. What you mentioned are more modern presentations, mostly after the reform which reorientated things towards Vipassana The tantric systems that were more open prior to the current presentation, use things like external and internal alchemy, magic, yantra, mantra, mudra, rituals, and require initation past the basic entry stages. External alchemy plays a role in moving towards moving away from food down the line. But im not going to get into that here I am 100% certain Thats not true. Its also beyond the scope of this thread, so lets not delve into this . Im really not open to discussing this type of practice as much as I am to the daoist side of things, which has far greater public accessibility Nothing personal, its just not something I wish to get into
-
This is a non public version of the practice The type of Theravada I do is much more traditional, it existed long before the current iteration that you see. It would be irresponsible and out of context to detail the version I work here. Its less about attachment to food and more about attachment in general. Karma, rebirth...long winded discussion Its a non negotiotiable aspect of the training, and has to be done. Theres no way around it, but yes , as you rightly mentioned it is done for a very specific reason as part of the wider system Theres no replacement of sensory stimulation. In this case, it would actually be counterintuitive to the aims of it At the higher levels (more esoteric) you work at overcoming the need for food ( I am taking later stage here), as certain changes lead to a monumentous shift in the way the body works But long before that, theres much work to be done, and its quite taxing on the body and mind.

This is an exceptionally important point. The texts, things like the DDJ, The Wuzhen Pian, The SOTGF and so on. At a practical level, These are all texts which augment the practice given by the teacher. If you want to get very esoteric, in certain cases, an actual tranmission is required to understand them. A literal enegetic transmission Without the practice and teacher, (and often, transmission) much of the utlity and hidden truth of the text is lost

Link? : No, I was not taught it in a manner thats available online. Info: I dont recommend it. Its not for weight loss or health. Unless its part of a whole system, the most likely scenario is a very unhealthy relationship with food
-
Its a little crude, but something like this
-
Thank you for posting this. Its a reflection of what I have been taught and experienced

contemplation of the repulsiveness of food = āhārepaṭikūlasaññā Buddhist practice. Tends to make you not want to eat much, if anything

Some of them view victory as conquering the world (by amassing wealth and power) as opposed to getting past worldliness (our lower nature) Certain wealthy people , in my experience are utterly terrified of death. Its often due to their attachment to what they've accumulated (materially, socially, and psychologically). Understandable in some ways While they might be hopeful to the idea of outliving others, its been my experience that if this is their approach , they can inadvertently create the conditions to likely be the ones left frequenting graveyards and other regions after their time has come Sometimes one does get what they want, but what they end up getting isnt what they thought it was

Have a think about it, what are your "thoughts" firstly Id define the acquired mind very loosely as the fluctuating, ever changing "lens" through which we experience reality. Its shaped, distored and biased by our emotions, desires, prior experience etc (im being extremely undetailed here otherwise id have to write a small book) It is by far the most unstable part of us. Changes every time we have a thought As for NDE's yes people can have memories of them, but actually what I was talking about was what happens at the moment of death the "life review" where the memory bank is run through despite the cessation of brain activity Theres a very specific reason this happens, and its linked to the brain and senses Quite the opposite in fact. Its not so much a separate thing. If that were the case it wouldnt be accessible by the body or the mind They arent undiscoverable. I could show you how to interact with certain aspects of the energy system within a day. Its really not that hard once you know the mechanics The reason it eludes standard protocols is that, well its not that it does, rather what you see if the effect. You basically just get the tip of the iceberg (if that makes sense) Let me give you an example of this (lets use the terms electricity and magnetism for simplicity, though its more complex than that) So if you look back at the video from earlier, whats happening here, it seems hes just waving his hands around and whatnot. However, whats happening is, hes using his hands to interact with the "electromagnetic stuff" in her body. He uses the hands because if you look at the concentration of nerve endings in the body, and how much of the sensory/ motor cortex is dedicated to it you notice a skewed balance in favour of the hands, and mouth. Its not so surprising then, when you see that two main methods of practice in spiritual traditions are mantra and mudra Where there is electricity, there's magnetism ( thats why they use the hands: more nerves = more electricity = more magnetism) The more of the electromagnetic substance you have built up, the stronger the influence will be. Eventually the magnetism and electricity accumulate and pressurize so much, they can extend beyond the body, and thats when the really bizarre stuff begins Stuff like this I can personally verify this type of thing, but i do not want to talk about my own experiences in public Whats happening physically is also not nearly as "supernatural" as one would think, it just requires an understanding of whats going on However, to return to out undetectable point. Consider the kidneys. So we know them as an organ right? Well the reality would be its not just an organ, behind that, there its also an entire field of energy associated, and behind that, actually theres a light It all depends on how where the focal point of your awareness is, and whether you are able to expand that (Recall what I said earlier about the sensory bandwidth) You are free not to believe me of course, but as youve probably already realised, I've no reason to be dishonest Exactly we agree, and I too see the same bleak outlook for the future sadly I dont disagree at all in fact. I do strongly feel that western society is fuelling much of the issues. This same frequency and distribution of issues isnt nearly as prevalent elswhere https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_antidepressant_consumption South Korea is the exception, though im sure you may understand why so, not surprising I am talking on a global scale however. The availability of frontline CBT is a good thing, but your point about the staff delivering it is also correct. So we arent misaligned on that. I agree with your analyiss of the motivation too This is bordering on politics and public spend however, so probably for a different place Yes i have. I've seen it be the case where in certain regions there was no clinical psychologist whatsoever, instead a psychiatrist did the diagnosis, then threw a bunch of medication at children, and left them 3-6 months between appointments with no support. Only to get a 40 minute appointment, and told to return again in 3-6 months for same Ill leave it to your own imagination to think about what this could lead to Agreed 100% they should not hear that. But ive been exposed to it. Ive also seen good therapists, though, they are normally private and behind a "paywall" if you would (unfortunately) Also 100% in alignment with you on the state of the west and the status quo There are of course certain people who gain benefit from medications, the best psychiatrists ive seen are super cautious around it until its a point where they need it. And they are very careful about how they approach it. I commend them for their efforts Most of these same folk ive encountered are also acutely aware of the antidepressant issues See my point earlier about the icerberg and the visible portion vs what you currently cannot percieve Theres not just one modality That would require a private discussion I dont need proof personally

@Antares Chidragon, TT and one or two others on this site dont have the experience of Neidan etc or teachers or adhere to lineages like you or I do They're happy going over chinese characters/ books etc (even if they're missing details we' consider important) Its best off to let them be You will get nowhere in this argument, best to leave it
