  1. Newbie to group

No, it is not. Sometimes, we cannot depend on English to explain everything. You have to try to look at the term by 顧名思義 if you know what I mean!
  2. Newbie to group

True Taoist is 道人,道士,真人(high priest) Semi-Taoist is 道徒
  3. Newbie to group

A true Taoist is an ascetic, not married. One lives in the Taoist shrine 24/7 to follow and practice the principles and canons of Tao. A Semi-Taoist is not an ascetic and may be married to have a family. One goes to the shrine eight hours a day to perform the daily chore and then returns home in the evening. Another kind of Semi-Taoist only follows the principles of Tao but is nonreligious.
  4. Qigong and astral travel

It was an ancient Taoist myth that a soul can be leaving the body at a high level of meditation. Someone needs to guard the body while the soul was away. It needs a body to return to. If the soul entered the wrong body, for example, a pig, then the person will be in the pig's body for life. Unless one can escape the body and return to the original body. It is only a myth as far as I know.
  5. The description of yin/yang is at the nature level. The male/female is the counterpart at the human level.
  6. Jingui Golden Shield QiGong

Is Golded Shield 金鍾罩 in Chinese? I am unaware it requires Didatjow(跌打酒) for any practice unless someone got hurt during the training. It acts as rubbing alcohol with the exception of herbs and a special Didapill(跌打丸) added submerged in drinking alcohol. It can be homemade and it is ready to be used after a few months.

How much do you understand Chinese Taoism as a religion?
  9. Newbie to group

Welcome! Yes, yours truly as a Semi-Taoist.
  10. Seven Steps to Deep Meditation

I would add deep breathing to make the process complete.
  11. Seven Steps to Deep Meditation

Sleeping is not a form of meditation. It must be considered to do some deep breathing exercises too.
  12. A 16 year old needs help! (Solved)

Quitting pornography is a good start to minimizing sexual urges. Your urge was caused by thinking about it to provoke your desire. Stay away from "The Multi-Orgasmic Man" and "Taoist Secrets of Love". I had read that they had screwed up many teenagers. They cause lots of small illnesses, especially, insomnia, and shortness of breath. Shortness of breath will make you sick and even might kill you. It will ruin your personality and give you a miserable life. Practice Qigong is good for your health. However, you must choose the correct one. When someone tells you about Qigong it might not be it. If you don't know anything about Qigong, don't start on your own. You might not know what you are going into. At your age, you must learn to distinguish what is right or wrong. If you don't know, then, find out.
  13. Primordial God Body Cultivation

Yes, they are out there! One just needs to have an open mind to look for it. There is no need to have a mental block for everything. An open mind is an open gate of all mysteries. Many considered the practice works for them and don't care how it works. That is what bothers me the most. Me, by understanding all the aspects of the practice, then, I will appreciate the practice more and gain the most benefits.
  14. Primordial God Body Cultivation

Spiritual practice is only one side story on the mental side. The practice that makes the body healthy is the other physical side of it. One just needs to step over to the physical side to enhance the wisdom cycle.
  15. Taijitu and the TTC

The two symbols yin and yang integrated are known as Taiji and cannot be separated. They work together by spinning to generate all things with no interruption. Thus nothing can interfere with its free action. Wu Wei is the philosophy of not interfering with nature and letting it take its course.

  17. Quick Introduction

Welcome to our new open-minded friend, David!
  18. Breath Retention and "Shock" Effect

It seems like your breathing rhythm was out of sync due to too much air in your respiratory system that you weren't accustomed to. How long have you been doing the practice? How deep did your breath go? Was it to the chest or deep down to your belly?
  19. Breath Retention and "Shock" Effect

Indeed, the description of words might be different but our physical bodies behave the same biologically. There are lots of things that were understood by the given. It doesn't have to be documented to lock ourselves in a boundary.
  20. Do What Thou Wilt

Why do we have the words, god and goddess?
  21. Do What Thou Wilt

以此 is kind of like saying "because of this" or "based on this"
  22. Breath Retention and "Shock" Effect

Yes, I agree that different school has different principles and techniques. However, when breathing techniques were mentioned, Qigong is relevant. Taoists and Buddhists do perform such practices. If you believe that it is irrelevant, then I surrender.
  23. Taijitu and the TTC

It is because yin/yang was explained in the Yijing. Thus Laozi only cited for reference.
  24. Breath Retention and "Shock" Effect

I wouldn't be wasting my time worrying about where to place my hands during breathing. The position of the hands has nothing to do with my internal breathing. Expanding the belly only allows more volume for the lung to hold more air(oxygen) to its full capacity than before. I would pay more attention to breathing. I don't know what breath retention is all about. In Qigong, one should never hold one breath but just breathe slowly in and out with no hesitation. So, there will be one smooth flow and no interruption in the breathing process. BTW Holding your breath will cause suffocation. A good breathing method is trying to inhale very very slowly allowing the air to go into the lungs, little by little, to keep the breathing process active. This is the proper way to breathe, in Qigong, without holding your breath.
  25. What is the best method of transmutation for semen retention?

It sounds like you are a very healthy man. Only healthy men have wet dreams due to their overloaded sexual biological activity in their system. It is true that if it happened too often will decrease your magnetism and general benefits. It seems like your time was occupied with your studies and have no time for anything else. Are you actively involved with any pornography? It seems not! What was in your dreams when that happens? There is no need for semen retention, the sperm in the body will die after 74 days and will be reproduced..
