@ Thuscomeone, If everything is of the mind, do you make people up too? Are sentient beings made up characters?
-
@Gold, I think Vajrasattva is asking, "what is the source of the intent and belief"? Or rather, I'm asking.

There's a strange harmony between this thread and the Kunlun thread. .

The Buddhas manifest everywhere! At the same time too! Isn't it cool? And apparently there are aliens already here! Whooaaaa...

Anymore experiences, inputs, recommended books and techniques regarding lucid dreaming and planes of reality? @YaMu Can you expand on the concept of bringing these various "identities" or scattered "energies" together? Or do you begin to exist simultaneously? How is Dream Gigong different, if at all, from lucid dreaming? More info would be nice. Thanks.

It is because awareness needs a counterpart to know of its own existence. Any perspective needs a relative mirror. The source of the perspective, the "I," is without inherent identity, but it exists relatively because of the "non-I."

Tell me what offends you, and I will tell you who you are
Lucky7Strikes replied to goldisheavy's topic in General Discussion
You get offended when you see a hint of truth to that which offends you. It brings about something you did not want to face or acknowledge, and so you give it credibility. But "offending" has many uses. And strawberry jam could as well offend as...baconaise.... -

If one can control anger, is that really anger? -
From my experience, most of Kunlun is purifying. Past attachments and memories all come to surface through the practice. So the experience is different for many, also depending on how the person chooses to face these issues. I don't think there's a right way to go about it, it feels more like, "here it is, this is you, now what will you do with it?" This goes much deeper than mental formations, whether you treat it as illusion, or create it as a reality is, again, your own path. Kunlun just speeds up the process of learning. I've gone through dark periods with this practice, and I'm not sure whether the technique alone could've gotten me past them. But in the end, it's the same story, this or any other practice. The only one you sit across is yourself.

Free flowing Level 2! I saw him do something similar with two sword fingers saying that it was another way of doing level 2, but this is supposed to come naturally to your body. .

Ok, I at least tried. .

I'm sorry, I couldn't help it. The Infinite Consciousness just made me do it, or no...it's all just Infinite Consciousness being 3bob and me being Lucky7 and this Self is so bored it just has to bicker to entertain itself. Why should we go back to these levels of liberation? Everything is already of the Self. It is all already liberated. And "YOU" can't do much about it either, since it's the Self just...being.... .

39. "By utterly transcending the sphere of infinite consciousness, one becomes aware of, attains to, and abides in the sphere of nothingness; this is the sixth liberation. Thanks Bob. @ Dwai, NO NO NO THAT IS NOT WHAT YOU ARE "SUPPOSED TO DO" Then we have true nihilism. End of free will. Complete determinism. No self, only Self! You idiot, why do you then practice? And if these words make you angry, OH I GUESS THE SELF IS JUST EXPRESSING ANGER THROUGH YOU! YOU JUST HAD TO BE ANGRY!!! OR NOT ANGRY!!! WHAT DOES IT MATTER??? And yes, this is the Infinite Consciousness just expressing itself on you, who is also of the Infinite Consciousness. And in the end it's just masturbating to itself while making countless "people" swim in delusion.

It's a copout. Blind faith. You might as well just stop doing anything and let the Self work its oh so mysterious ways out in this world. . NO THE SPAGHETTI MONSTER IS NOT BOUND TO REASON! HA!
-
I don't think you understood the question. Let me rephrase it. WHY has the conditional, delusion of the "self," arisen from that which is unchanging and unconditional: the "Self"? Is the Self just playing with itself?
-
Then why has the relative/materialistic arisen from that which is unconditional Self? And since it has arisen, can one call the Self unconditional?

The "Get a Job, Have a Wife, Make a Child , Get a Life" Thread

You can only truly love 7 people? What? Lame. -
Then perhaps you might try Xabir's raft out. His blog is something to explore: http://awakeningtoreality.blogspot.com/. Writings by Thusness are also very concise and practical. It's important to question and contemplate held beliefs and not hide behind the curtain of "ah, words and contemplation and mind tricks and worthless." A yogi may be in samadhi for years and never attain liberation, just as a sedated person is also not in meditation. I think, the raft should be examined over and over again to see why it hasn't gotten one across, also with rigorous rowing/application. Word play has its place in practice. Light is met with light, darkness with darkness. . I love the koan: when many is reduced to one, what is that one reduced to? But it poses two different questions, and may not be so effective when applied. Just my opinion.

I think seeing something as positive or negative is itself a wrong approach. Don't emphasize, and do not oppress. Get used to letting those attachments go by realizing that most of these emotions, memories, and feelings are delusions. They are not "you." When you explore the "bad" as you put it, you can fall into an endless process of cleansing the dirt you have drempt up. Learn to find an unconditioned view of things that can cut down anything within reach. And be that. Note: I am not discouraging looking into your darker side, seeking its source can be an incredibly powerful meditation, but the mind can always create newer illusions. Just 2 cents... .

Distinguishing natural and forced desire
Lucky7Strikes replied to glooper23's topic in General Discussion
A monk to his teacher: I neither want the rice cake or do not want it. If it is in front of me I will not hesitate or desire. Teacher (correcting the student): If I want cake, I will go make one. Or something like that.... When you no longer have obstacles, you escape both life and death. So what's the worry? Desire without a source is no longer desire. When your intent is pure, it is ok to want cake. I think. . -
There are many lost souls (friends) around me, who do not know what to do or what direction to turn to. They are immersed in perpetual fear, ever-present loneliness, both physical and emotional pain...drugs, alcohol...man, you all know what I'm talking about. How do I give them the happiness I have found through "spirituality?" How do I ask them to make the sacrifice to let go of the habitual ways of living? I have asked them to question, inquire, I have pushed them forcefully at times, and gently coaxed them at others. Sometimes I see him/her genuinely interested, but at the end of the day they return to a familiar territory. Is it arrogant of me to wish that they follow a similar path as I have? Should I push books into their hands? What do I do and what can I do? Is the only way to wait? I feel that these descriptions are unnecessary. I know many of you here have felt similarly. Help from the bums would be appreciated. _/\_. .
