  1. What the Self Is (and Is Not)

Dwai, You still haven't fully answered my question. Why do you try to find the Self when you claim that all is already the Self? A play of consciousness, the infinite, or whatever? As a manifestation of this "Self," wouldn't you always be that which is? Why are you meditating? I presume people experience this and think, "Wow! Non-duality! There is no 'me'! But just an infinite consciousness!" I personally believe that people who come to this realization are the ones who have suffered through much insecurities throughout their lives (one of the main reasons why they do spiritual seeking) and stumbling upon this state of consciousness, interpret it as something ever present and accepting. They go into a passive "let whatever be whatever" mode. Psychologically, I picture them going back into their mother's womb. . It's a very attractive thought one can get caught up in, because many people today suffer from rejection and sense of loss. The idea of giving up and convincing oneself that it is the Truth, is not the Way. Wu wei is the effortless fruition of Virtue, not lazy observation. Hmm..I haven't, But thanks for the rec. .
  2. What the Self Is (and Is Not)

Although I don't completely agree with what Marble said, he has a good point in that there is nothing that is an exception to the laws of the universe. Also that to look beyond personal experience and reifying a mystical "Self" beyond one's own body and mind is just plain worship. You yourself agreed that the Self is all that is. That it is non-dual. So no one can make a mistake of identifying with anything. This includes the Yin and Yang. I guess "co-arising" is not a clear term. Co-dependent is more like it. All things work relatively, reflecting phoenema as intentions lead it to. The Buddhists might not agree with this, but I see intention and consciousness as interchangeable terms in terms of experience. What you intend, you experience. It is just intentions affecting and being affected. You don't have to have some mystical experiences to observe this. The Self is eternal but only in the sense that it is empty and dependent. Existence is eternal, but no "identity" is, except for endless virtue. Recognizing the Way in which Yin and Yang dynamically move in harmony until this law and "you" have totally become one. Hahaha, you might call it love. AWWWWWWW. .
  3. What the Self Is (and Is Not)

Exactly. This is exactly what is wrong with it. This is the limit of the sort of "acceptance" realization. That state cannot be eternal, why? Because you can never be in the indepedent state forever. Too much Yin, and the inner Yang will manifest. No-Self doesn't doesn't mean that there is no "you." It means that there is no "inherent" you because your existence and intentions are dependent on others. It's a co-rising. The best example I could find is the function of time. Each moment exists on its own, but only depedent on the moment before and the moment after. No inherent "presence" can be seen. Yet it is there. If it wasn't, neither the future or the past can be seen either. Xabir put it beautifully in one sentence. All in each and each in all. The future and past are in the present. And the present is in the future and the past, no where to be identified as a separate state. I'm not a true Buddhist. I'm just like...knocking on the door (well, hopefully). . Exactly. 4. What the Self Is (and Is Not)

I don't hold the views of an ultimate Self. That is why I meditate. There are many many enstranged people who hold this false belief and drop their "self," believing they are a manifestation of another whole, when it is ony their own consciousness experiencing their own misguided intentions. Do you hold the view that you and your actions are simply the playful division and union of an ultimate Consciousness? Then why do you meditate? "You" can't do anything in that sense. .
  5. What the Self Is (and Is Not)

If the Self simply "is," then my ignorance of the Self is also the act of the Self. Realizing the Self therefore cannot come from meditation when it is simple all there is. The Self is that which is when there is no identification. And even the identification is the act of the Self. The teacher in your quote tells the student to meditate in order to let him see a higher consciousness than the body. But it really has nothing to do with realization. On another note, believing a universal Self, or an unified "non-dual" concept (different from dependency) is a nihilistic surrender to a "higher" power, which you can see in many Hindu traditions. This also can never be proven, since it can only be exerienced by an individual consciousness. Relatvity doesn't "come from" anything. You're thinking linearly where there is a beginning and an end. When you meditate on time, you will see that there is no beginning or end, no "coming from" or "going to." Only one's fluctuating intent and consciousness experiencing reality accordingly. The notion that the Self or Brahma "makes" anything actually contradicts your earlier statement on how it IS everything.
  6. What the Self Is (and Is Not)

HAHAHA Again! More and more!! Lol. .
  7. Qi must flow through the legs in order to maintain the full-lotus comfortably for a long time. I suggest learning how to channel the sexual energy, sublimate it and run it through the macrocosmic orbit of the body. When the body becomes full, your hips (more important than the legs doing full-lotus), will re align during the standing postures. Also, make sure you leave the kua open and breathe throughout the whole body. Hope it helps!
  8. ... but I like my ego...

So from what I learned from all that mumble jumble past month, The ego or a sense of self identity has its place in the evolution of the spirit. To simply "let go" leads one to a static state of "acceptance of everything" or a false belief of merging into some other source. As the Yin Yang symbol shows, this Yin state will mature to its full potential only for its Yang essence to rise again. When the Yang state fully matures, the inner Yin will guide the practitioner again into the other direction. Creation and destruction, birth and death, over and over again in its own limitations. Most people today are leading very individualistic lives of the Yang principle. When they get tired they get into all sorts of spiritual and religious sects that urge the individual to "surrender" the ego or the self. Both approaches are not wholesome. As findley says, the ego is a gift. The ego can really be limited and unlimited. It is the sense of I-ness and will that are very real. Yet one must also see this self-existence as interrelated to everything else in the universe. Both the Yin and the Yang must be embraced and harmonized in order for "you" to truly become the full potential of the Tao or a Buddha. Enlightenment is not static (if it is... ). Hopefully it isn't.
  9. Dangerous Meditation

Very interesting. Thank you! I read through a few accounts and they seem to do with Kundalini not being well handled. Qi Gong and stillness mediation are all grounding based practices (or should be at least), so I don't think there can be anything too dangerous. Kundalini is serious business.
  10. ... but I like my ego...

All experiences of I ness is the Self. . Even the ego. Dwai, btw, if all is of Consciousness, who has the freedom to realize that there is no Ego? Why do "you" struggle in the first place if you believe it to be illusory?
  11. ... but I like my ego...

I AM = Yang, I AM NOT = Yin Too much Yang, you suffer from frustration and get detached. Too much Yin, you make no progress and betray life's dynamic nature. Don't cycle back and forth! Haha, do both and you grow, expand and more and more approach the true eternal Way! . Integrate, cultivate, renew...repeat!
  12. Should a Taoist Forum focus primarily on Taoism?

Meh. You can't separate Taoism and Buddhism. They both ripped each other off in the East at least. .
  13. Calling ascended beings.

Just intent? Do you visualize their images too? Have you tried Max's "choi ting" method? .
  14. stop seeking bliss; it's wrong

It's not a drug high. The bliss becomes you and you no longer even see it as bliss. A dualistic approach to anything such as bliss is not true bliss and impermanent. I'm not sure what death has anything to do with this. Bodhidharma was a barbarian to the Chinese because he was foreign. They call all foreigner barbarians .
  15. stop seeking bliss; it's wrong

The process U.G. went through was spontaneous and he had no idea how or why it occurred. There are many people who go through such awakenings and attribute it to an outer source. This leads to worship, irresponsibility, and reckless sense of superiority. The primal spirit was non other than an aspect of himself, but he didn't interpret it that way because of his past experiences with spirituality were shrouded in doubt, inferiority, and pride. He is not exactly a man to look up to or even learn from. As for bliss, it is one of many factors that guides the seeker. No need to seek it or not seek it. Just pay attention to it.
  16. Book on Qi meridians?

Recommendations on a book detailing the meridians, how they relate and their yin and yang properties? Much appreciated.
  17. Meditation can mask the shadow self

My limited experience and observation of psychotherapy is that there will always be something wrong with you. . No one around me who has been in therapy has truly improved their lives.
  18. Sexual Energy and Creativity

The most effective way of opening the channels is radiating a smile with your entire body inwards. Breathe deep. The inhale increases the radiance and the exhale spreads it. Just sit, smile, breathe. The anxiety and impatience that naturally arise is just the raw externalized energy. Be patient and the energy will refine. Ejaculating isn't actually harmful either. Just the potentials of that energy is lost. So you shouldn't think that preserving the jing energy is helping your creativity and what not. It's what you do with it. I'm not too familiar with MerKaBa so I cannot comment on it. Just curious, what results have you been getting?
  19. There are many methods. However, some do certain things better than others.
  20. Book on Qi meridians?

Thanks for the recommendations! Trunk has a few sites listed, but not many specific books on the subject. But I'll definitely look around more.
  21. Book on Qi meridians?

That's interesting that you make the distinction between "esoteric" acupuncture and medical acupuncture. They both use the channels for different purposes, so you're probably right. I'm just looking for a concise book on the major channels and not a medical textbook. Anyone?
  22. how to prevent nocturnal emissions?

Intentions guide the energy. If you have trouble doing this, imagine the energy is spiraling throughout the body and the spine. But most importantly, deep breathing and inner smile opens the channel for the energy to flow through. Do not do forced physical blocking, because that is useless and you will get no benefits from physical injaculation. Give your body some time to adjust internally. You're not going to change your habits over night.
  23. Book on Qi meridians?

    Bump.
  24. Secret of the Golden Flower

Glenn was good enough to just give orgasms through intent. . And Drew apparently just sits in the library and gives everyone orgasms through the third eye. . Dangerous siddhis . About the penis, it's the ballooning effect like Magitek said. Your entire system just completely fills up with energy and doesn't necessarily have to do with Kundalini. The effects of continuously running the MCO is that your natural Yang energy will copulate with the Yin circulation and thereby complete the alchemical union. Vortex's original post was hilarious.
