I swear there’s many videos of him practicing right next to a swimming pool

You shouldn’t do energy work when there is a thunderstorm because of electrical interference. Sex should be fine though.

Thank you for the amazingly detailed answer!

Follow Sifu Terry’s instructions when doing Flying Phoenix. What Damo Mitchell says or does is not important.

Muslims have the highest life satisfaction: They have a feeling of 'oneness' that trumps Christians, Buddhists and yogis, study suggests

As far as I know zikr would be the closest, where you repeat certain words or phrases like a mantra over and over again. They can be said out loud or in your head. Not sure of any which are purely silent but I wouldn’t be surprised if there were any in some Sufi sects. The most famous zikr would be the ones done by the whirling dervishes of Turkey, where they spin around while repeating certain prayers in their head. I would be very surprised if you haven’t heard of this one. @Elysium might be able to talk about this! -

Daily prayer. Some people say namaz but in Indonesia we mostly say salat or sholat. -

I do believe that something has been lost over the years with the movements during salat, or maybe some instructions are being withheld. Many of the movements and positions are similar to qigong. Ramadan is coming up and I will start praying daily again so maybe I will experiment with abdominal breathing during salat and see what happens. -

Haha good point! Maybe they didn’t need a stillness practice as most of their life was stillness. To be honest they would be Sufi practices, not mainstream Sunni or Shia -

I wouldn’t say there are very limited meditational activities. Salat could be compared to qigong, repeated zikr could be compared to mantras, fasting during Ramadan, not to mention the many Sufi practices. South East Asia’s practices would be a combination of indigenous and imported (both Eastern and Abrahamic). -

But what about Indonesia, Malaysia and Brunei? They are Muslim and also have local meditation practices -
Yes, find a practice and stick with it for a while. If you don’t like it after a few months, you can always try something else. Is there any that has got your interest?

Good advice as usual from you. A lot of people seem to think books are the only way to learn, and forget about or completely disregard oral tradition. Some of the best knowledge is not recorded, but only transferred orally or in person. But sadly most people prefer a free pdf.

This is a problem lots of people have. They spend too much time reading up on the mechanics of higher level practices and trying to understand that, but they can’t even breathe properly. Best not to read so much and just practice.

Hi Sifu Terry, A. During the “stopping the world”, it felt like everything stopped for a second, not longer. Time didn’t feel warped or slow motion, just a brief stop in everything. B. No, my vision didn’t change at all C. I saw some references to it in the thread, I think a decade back from 2015. I will post some screenshots of them. April 6, 2015:

Yes. In this thread there are many references to Castaneda and stopping the world.

Is there an east/west schism
-ꦥꦏ꧀ ꦱꦠꦿꦶꦪꦺꦴ- replied to Sir Darius the Clairvoyent's topic in General Discussion
There are some Asians who do have a European mindset and tend to reject Asian culture/religion/superstition. No offence taken, everyone has their positives and negatives. In general my western friends are more skeptical about everything and my Asian friends more open minded about these things. The best is always a combination of the two, you can’t be too skeptical, but you can’t also be too gullible. -
