Seeing, Recognising & Maintaining One's Enlightening Potential
Lairg replied to C T's topic in Buddhist Textual Studies
Visualize/intend a bunch of timelines above, below and around you with this physical timeline in the center, stretching before and behind you. Now move a snake dream near the various timelines. With which timeline is the dream associated? -
Considering the Notion of Progress in Meditation
Lairg replied to Robin's topic in General Discussion
For what its worth, the Buddha sitting under the Bodhi tree was likely to obtain the assistance of the elegant nature spirit that sits in the top of most mature healthy Bodhi trees. The Bodhi tree has fruit (fig) that is open to the air through the hole at the end. The element of air is particularly connected to the heart and it is access to heart (buddhic) energies that allows the human to lift above the mind. The local botanic gardens has such a Bodhi tree with a very nice nature spirit in the top. The gardeners have placed a seat underneath that gets much use.- 18 replies

Considering the Notion of Progress in Meditation
Lairg replied to Robin's topic in General Discussion
In my observation the human has three primary steps to first stage enlightenment involving control and refinement of the physical-etheric body, the emotional body and the mental body. These steps require right relationship internally and externally (including parasitic connections), release from personal karma, and proper alignment of subplane energies. When that has been achieved the final internal step is the will to be at one with all that is. Well-chosen meditation is useful but not essential.- 18 replies

As result of a strange dream and later experiments I find it useful to distinguish Beingness from the intermittent Existence. Beingness provides the life force (the Hindu five electricities) that penetrates and maintains Existence. When Beingness has had enough experience, it ceases Existence and the Mahapralaya continues until the next Existence is caused. The standard human contains a thread of Beingness that is the source of its spiritual authority when the human approaches first stage enlightenment.

Better to think of the personality mind in that way. The higher mind has access to higher intelligences

Pregnant women are well known to have cravings
-
Most humans have physical and emotional cravings. Some have heart cravings. Do these exist separately from the mind? What about the cravings of infants for food and love?

In my observation the lowest layer of the solar plexus chakra is anchored just above the navel in women and just below in men. Do women sense the difference?
-
That is only from those that rose above their troubles. Most just get reborn into similar situations

All true enough - but I often meet people who do not know why sequences of bad things happen and struggle without benefit. I have just re-met a doctor I know from 40 years ago. He was dying of bone cancer without realizing that the dark entity attached to the back of his neck was the immediate cause. The next level of causation was personal karma. And the next level of causation was an oppression system designed to disable useful humans The next level of causation was and is planetary karma. Such is life. His bone and kidney energies look like they are improving. I await his next set of tests. Perhaps the Lipika Lords (Lords of Karma) will look kindly upon him.

Trees often have one spiral marked in their trunks. Those with clockwise down spirals tend not to like humans - dangerous to camp underneath. Trees with anticlockwise up spirals tend to like humans I met a tree the other day with only one side of the trunk showing a spiral. It looked like a horizontal wall of light was hitting one side of the tree and then the light descended into the earth so that the other side was not affected.

Perhaps in a double spiral - as demonstrated by the DNA molecule - out-breath and in-breath

A guy was complaining to me that his thoughts were being interfered with. He was craving freedom of thought. Another very thin fellow was eating huge amounts. Eventually I "saw" that he had an energy parasite. When he got rid of it, his appetite for food was normal. So the question may be: how does craving occur?

The suffering/adversity, although difficult, requires humans to control and refine their personalities (persona=mask) before exercising much of their spiritual authority. That may be an important protection for the planet and humanity

Pythagoras tells us that numbers are alive. How can an abstract quality be alive? Still, I have worked with a lot of numbers and they do not like being misused. It feels to me that numbers are part of Beingness.

The principle is that the human in harmony with Nature causes Nature to come into harmony around him/her. Thus rain and shine come at proper times. These days there are weather/earthquake weapons so the principle is not so reliable

Many are called but few are chosen?

There are many energies including what the Hindu texts refer to as the five electricities. Thus energy comprises every plane of existence and beyond into the five electricities. Energies are intelligent - since they are the bodies of elementals. Elementals have purpose and therefore preferences. Feng Shui texts give some principles for managing energies in/on the landscape. The planet has horizontal and vertical meridians. Geometry is central to management of some energies

In the Hindu tradition, the universe goes out of existence and then reappears. The gap is called a Mahapralaya. There are lesser pralayas including when this solar system goes out and reappears in a more advanced state. Thus before the universes first appeared there must have been some intent for them to do so. That intent, in my perception, occurs before Existence. Before Existence is Beingness. Beingness intends and Existence appears - providing experience for Beingness, until Beingness has had enough The standard human conceals a thread of Beingness - hence has authority within Existence
-
I agree with that. The question then is: does that intent arise before Existence?
-
If Chi is the life force, does it come from a great entity? Perhaps Intent causes Existence. If so, Intent may appear within Existence as Chi.

Correlation between Hindu and Daoist alchemical concepts
Lairg replied to dwai's topic in General Discussion
The earliest modern reference to alchemical substances may be in the Sumerian writings when the gods were dying on this planet under its aging sun They went on strike and eventually were provided with the water of life and the food of life to maintain their immortality. They carried emergency supplies in a little bag, sometimes marked with an ankh Here is a god symbolically collecting the food of life from the tree of life This god is depicted as an eagle because he is one of the astronauts. The same gods were in South America with their handbags
