The reason why a person who only has qi in his lower abdomen can't understand the WuZenPian
鞏三孝 replied to awaken's topic in Daoist Discussion
Well, I think if we agree with Mr. Taoist Text's definition of siddhi ("siddhis are positive SUBJECTIVE experiences"), then she still has a siddhi......It is merely strongly influenced by her subjectivity, in this case, anger and hatred to people practicing certain types of Taoist teachings I think there are at least 7 billion people who can perform similar level of "siddhi" -

I'm not sure which dictionary you use to define "miracle", I looked up some like Oxford, Cambridge and Webster's. Their definition actually doesn't include what you said about "OBJECTIVE (provable to others) deviations from the laws of nature" but that's okay. For discussion purposes, we can use your definition as our ad hoc definition. Ok, no miracle. Ok, I can agree your statement Awaken "claims to have an unusual subjective experience." As for subjectivity, I certainly can't objectively say that my aura doesn't stink. When she sniffed my Qi with her supernatural powers, maybe it was too pungent. Actually after she yelled at me for the first time, I bought a more expensive bar of soap...maybe it did work since she hadn't complained about my smell for weeks!! However, she also said that with her magical powers, she could see that I was practicing the "transfer method", and that I use a technique to bring Qi into my lower dantien. This is objectively wrong. She is deceiving herself into believing she has magic detecting powers she does not have, and saying she can teach people to develop the same thing. Sad for her, sad for students I see In fact, I also agree that some of her comments about Taoist cultivation are very correct. For example, I also don't think moving Qi intentionally is a good way to practice (but I do not oppose it and maybe it is good for some people). Also, I think there are a lot of good reasons not to pay attention to the lower Dantien. I agree that Wuzhenpian didn't teach those things. I agree that Qigong is not Neidan. Some of the things I practice might have something to do with the way she practice. But I'll never know, because she immediately blocked me when I warned her that her Google Translate teachings contained bizarre sexual mistranslations which will mislead people. Telling her this was enough to label me as one of the "evil" ones Even though I agree with her on some things, I still think she has terrible delusions of grandeur. She is so convinced of herself that when confronted with slightly opposing views, her responses are always shock, anger, and aggression... Sadly, this kind of thing happens many times in Taoism and Buddhism and other spirituality. Often it is like this: people have some very intense experiences of spirit and Qi, and then begin to think that they are highly achieved, or even fully enlightened. Once this kind of thinking is deeply rooted in the heart of a person, it is very difficult to change. Due to misinterpreting Qi or spirit experiences, what could have been a golden ticket becomes a ticket to disaster instead. A good Taoist teacher will help students avoid this trap. When the student thinks "wow wow wow I can see lights, it must be _______" or "wow deities are visiting me" or something, then the teacher gives a perspective and brings the student back to reality. Basically the teacher is saying "don't be silly, quiet your mind, keep practicing." It's a pity that Awaken has never had a teacher. There was nobody to help her understand her experience. She is only one person practicing alone and reading books alone. She reads ancient symbolic poetry that can be interpreted in 1,000 different ways......No matter what, it always appears to her to confirm her underlying conclusion: "I totally understand the entire paths of Taoism and Buddhism." She seems to have fallen so deeply into this trap, and she kept there by her fiery, explosive emotions. Now the person who never had a teachers wants to be other people's teacher. Very complicated. Long run, could be tragic. -
Hello, everyone, I am a practitioner and scholar who is not very special. Nice to meet you. I am interested in translating Taoism and Taoist classics. I hope we can communicate more so that we can understand Taoist thought and practice together. thank you

The person you venerate as the highest adept here also claims the ability to smell people hundreds or thousands of kilometers away...... through her computer screen If that's not a siddhi, it must be a miracle. It's also funny how you trust her so much Well, I do remember A very wise and learned man once said........... -

One of my favorite things about authoritarian personality types is that, in addition to their exaggeration and energy, they are able to cram so many different psychological complexes into only one tiny human container. 1. Hero complex: I'm here to save everyone. 2. Victim complex: Everyone is attacking me. 3. Messiah complex: Only I can save you with my special knowledge/ability that no one else has 4. Purity complex: Only I am righteous, other people are either evil...... or else an impure follower and I will teach them to be pure (if they are worshipful and obedient and never ask wrong questions!) 5. Paranoia complex: Everyone who disagrees with me is part of a cabal that secretly unites against me (the Transfer Method!!) 6. Prophet complex: Using my magic, I can know the energy of everyone I talk to on the internet" (Spoiler: everyone who disagrees with me has the dirty Qi of the tran!sfer method!!) 7. Missionary complex: I am on a divine mission, so I will ignore any information that might cause me to reconsider my divine mission. Why listen to people? I already talk to God! 8. Growing appetite complex: I said I'm only here to save 'one person' but I already have several students here.....so actually I just need........ one more! 9. Some more victim complex: I don't think you noticed my moaning the last 700 times I told you (Pity party from loving disciples is the cherry on top of being fully enlightened Tao master. Of course Lao Tzu rode the bull out of town because no one is giving him enough sympathy, so went to mountains in west to sulk, poor guy) 10. Fearmonger complex: If you don't follow my teachings, you will surely fail, get sick, go to hell, etc.................... It must be difficult to balance so many baggage and problems. No wonder so grumpy every day.- 229 replies

I did read it but I don't have the tutelage of Secret of the Golden Flower. None of my teachers use this book. Furthermore, every time I see some light or Qi because of my cultivation, the teacher will advise me to ignore it. According to them, those phenomena are not the point. They will say: If you run after them or cling to them or pay too much attention to them or try to intensify them, the practice will soon go astray. The crux of the matter is the emptiness that has no form, no face, and no phenomenon. Yet this nothingness also accompanies and permeates all phenomena that have substance and aspect. The location of Hsuan kuan lies in between these two. Once the hsuan kuan is activated, the two can interact with each other. It can be said that at this time, the two are not two, nor one. The door of all wonders 眾妙之門 All wonders can arise, including lights. Or not. Who plans this? Humans love to theorize and plan and map out and define and master. Only..... all of the actual doing just comes from nature 謀事在人,成事在天 Who can get out of the way? Then the way can be the Way

If you go to the religious section of Eslite Books , yes, much more Buddhist. If you go to the religious section of San Min Books, very big Taoist section. The influence of Christianity is strong here too even though it has fewer believers. Many religions are hard to classify as Buddhist, Taoist or a mix or offshoot or reinterpretation. Such as Yi Kuan Tao, Tian Ti Jiao, etc. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion_in_Taiwan -

This person seems to be stuck with the old Taiwanese education culture. Before, in Taiwan, teachers had absolute authority, and students basically could only memorize what the teacher taught, and they were not welcome to ask questions. Debate or rebuttal from student to teacher was unheard of. Largely due to the influence of Western educational culture, the old style of teaching has become increasingly unpopular in Taiwan, especially for people under the age of forty. Ironically, Awaken now uses this pedantic and outdated culture in a Western context. She seemingly did not expect that Westerners would not think that coming to "learn" means blindly trusting everything the teacher says, and she didn't understand that in modern times, a "good student" could be a student who contradicted the teacher. Even weirder, she seems to think people who aren't even her followers should put her on some pedestal and never disagree with her. I feel that this person Awaken is not looking for someone who really wants to learn. It is like she is looking for something closer to cult believers who are submissive and flattering. Possibly it's because Taiwan already has a Miaochan and many other Great Masters, so there's too much competition here. She had to run to the west to search for believers. Well known joke in Hong Kong and Taiwan: Everybody Say Thank You Seafood (shifu)......... -
Wonderful I have skimmed through both the original text and the English translation of that book. The level of Lu K'uan Yu's translation is very high. However, the original content of the book was quite complicated, with many youwei elements. Taoist Yoga only represents one thread of teaching of inner alchemy. Other schools do not necessarily teach such practices. There are some schools where the approach is comparatively much more simple and natural. There are also even more complex schools. So, if there is no fate with that book, there are still other other roads that can be traveled.

I know two schools of hsuan kuan practice outside the body. Neither has any visualization at all. Unfortunately, I cannot go into more detail, because of precepts. This has nothing in common with what I have learned, but the teachings of other schools may have something to do with it.

Your experience is very interesting, thank you for sharing. I'm not qualified to judge, but it does sound like hsuan kuan was active and your body has a series of reactions as a result. The effect of your practice that day is not unimportant, but the most important thing is to return to the simplest practice. It turned out that it was an extremely simple method that caused that reaction. Not only that, but you didn't know it could have such a wonderful effect at that time. You were completely "beginner's mind" back then. Now, you have tried that taste. Therefore, you might expect that effect and even desire to experience it again. The next time you practice, don't expect any miraculous results like the last time. Don't crave it either. The last time you achieved that effect was not because of what you did or thought. Instead, it's because you did almost nothing and thought nothing of it. Maybe you can use an analogy like this: when you practiced that day, it was a bit like you casually got on the elevator, pressed any button, and then experienced the process of taking the elevator, that's all. Unexpectedly, when you got off the elevator, you reached such a magical floor! It is normal to want to reach that wonderful floor again. But that desire and that memory will delay you from doing the simplest and most crucial thing: just take the elevator. (Meaning: just following your teacher's simple instructions, nothing more and nothing less) Your heart may want to use your memory to rebuild that magical floor. But this mental activity will prevent you actually getting a ride on the elevator. Because if all the electricity is busy powering mental activity, the elevator cannot move. You may also want to rely on your memory to find the last floor button you pressed. But the elevator actually has only one button, called "now". Simply press it and it will run naturally. If you're looking for that button called "last time", you'll never find it. If you look for buttons called "like so-and-so's experience" or "effects from so-and-so book", you'll never find them. Just push the "now" button...and enjoy the ride, and see where it goes. Furthermore, you may not really believe all the way to your bones such a simple practice was sufficient to elicit such a wonderful response as you had. So it will be hard to get back to your most "beginner's mind" state. The state when you knew nothing, and therefore could "Just Do It." The thing to remember is this: You didn't create that wonderful response, and you didn't discover it after a search. It is only because you dropped everything that day and didn't expect anything at all, so it had the opportunity to come to you on its own. The hard part is, you already have that wonderful response. So it leaves a memory. Next time you use the simple method your teacher gave you, can you let go of that memory first? Can you let go of all expectations and curiosity? Can you just casually get on the elevator and push the button and do nothing else? Actually this can be very hard. Which is why we have to remember to forget (Oh yes, also, next time if you can actually get on the elevator, you will probably get off the elevator on a completely different floor. In this lifetime, you may not reach the magical floor you went to last time again. Maybe you just don't need to go a second time. Also, in the future, most of the floors you go to in the future will be pretty boring. That's normal! But sooner or later you'll get to where you're supposed to be. So, don't worry!) Yes, the hsuan kuan is the necessary pivot that makes it a possibility for this to occur.

In fact, the door is always completely open, and it's ok to discuss anything, whether it's football, fashion, or pour-over coffee. I mentioned my observation not because I feel it is wrong or needs to be rationalized to discuss something other than hsuan kuan here. However, my point was that it is an interesting phenomenon that the core of Daoist inner alchemy is so little known that almost nobody has anything to say about it, and yet it still makes people want to talk about its side issues. Is it similar to a celestial body with a strong gravitational pull that can attract satellites, but at the same time its electromagnetic field does not allow them to get too close? Maybe. We can almost never put a finger on these things。。。

Wonderful! A very important part of the teaching! Some schools do use the a place close to the upper dantian to activate the hsuan kuan. Others may not do this directly, but may say that the hsuan kuan's activities naturally involve the upper dantian. Some people have different explanations, and some neidan approaches don't really talk about dantians at all. Sometimes, the word dantian may even be a metaphor for the hsuan kuan itself. But this is a very deep topic related to certain old texts which are important but not available in English. In fact, although some people will agree with this, others will say that as long as one is in a state of wuwei, the hsuan kuan will remain active. Very nice description! The hsuan kuan can emerge and disappear very quickly. It must be maintained for a long time for great medicine. I have not done this, and I don't know anyone who did. I am just repeating words

While observing the development of this discussion, I have a feeling that the topic of hsuan kuan is slightly out of reach for many people. It is easy to discuss some notions on the distant boundaries of this topic, but it seems that it is difficult for people to cut directly to its core. Is it an issue of affinity? Interest? Destiny? I don't know, but it is fascinating to observe. Maybe hsuan kuan will always be a topic that a small minority of people who like Taoism can go deep into. If this is the case, there is no need to force people to deepen their interest, and such an effort probably would not succeed. People with karma or affinity or destiny related to hsuan kuan will naturally encounter the teachings. When the time is not yet ripe, it will likely only remain distant and obscure.

The reason why a person who only has qi in his lower abdomen can't understand the WuZenPian
鞏三孝 replied to awaken's topic in Daoist Discussion
It seems her reasons for ignoring people comes mostly from delusion. As long as a person disagrees with her, that person is a "vested interest" who practices the "carrying method". She reflexively assumes that the reason for any objection must be that the dissenter has some kind of competition with her to attract apprentices. Awaken typically will first curse the person, then block him, and then continue to falsely accuse him of being a "qigong dealer" and "evil". She said that she can know what others are cultivating because she can feel their qi. I think paranoia and auto suggestion are maybe the main factors. Of course one can just ignore her, but she's working hard to recruit students here. She will also list her supposed magical psychic powers from time to time to show off and catch the eye of the beginners. Since it may be risky to be an apprentice to such a teacher, some objections may be raised for people who don't know anything about Taoism to consider。 -
Your idea makes sense. But in any case, as long as you choose to keep paying attention to one place, it will involve some degree "active intention". This is part of beginning with youwei to arrive at wuwei. But as you suggest, concentrating too hard will suppress the effect. However, I mainly mentioned that the purpose of Mr. Yang's focus on the lower abdomen is not to discuss how to concentrate, but to emphasize that in this practice, Mr. Yang still focuses (yes gently) on the lower abdomen. My point is, although it can be said that hsuan kuan has no location, the method of practicing hsuan kuan can utilize a specific location. The locations used by each school are not necessarily the same. Some are not in the abdominal cavity, and some are not even in the body.

在網路論壇上,問問題、討論、辯論、提供異議並不屬於evil或malice然而是非常正常的行爲。一旦有人不同意你或懷疑你,不等於他們恨你。 On an online forum, asking questions, discussing, debating, and providing dissent is not an evil or malice but very standard behavior. When someone disagrees with you or is doubtful, it doesn't mean they hate you. Also, why do you think the minds of "normal people" are evil? According to general logic, we should be able to say that the thoughts of "ordinary people" are very "ordinary", so there may be some mixture of good and evil. But according to my observation, most people are fairly kind. Not so many people are full of evil thoughts. 也不太知道爲什麽你一直以爲我在運氣。告訴你,小心不要被錯覺牽著走。 Not quite sure why you keep thinking I'm "transporting qi". I suggest to you, be careful not to be led away by illusions. -
There are many, Taoism is very diverse。 Indeed, it can be said that sitting and forgetting is an important part of the cultivation of the hsuan kuan. But it is generally not the whole of it, because like you said, the mental activities of ordinary people are not so easy to calm down. So you need to start with something "youwei". Actually, the method taught by Mr. Yang in the video also includes the need to focus on the lower abdomen. That's right. But because of this, Taoism has many expedient methods, just like what Buddhism calls "expedient dharma doors". These methods provide students with a "place to rest the mind" in order to help people gradually approach the state where the hsuan kuan has a chance to activate naturally. Different schools often have different expedient methods. By the way, usually teachers will teach students to just let those “all kinds of worldly matters and imaginings” or physical discomforts just come and go, then, go back to the method. But sometimes this is easier said than done. No wonder practice is not a matter of a day or two, it takes a lifetime. Almost all terms in Taoism have different interpretations and definitions, this is normal.

你確定你沒有在高估你的能力嗎?你誤判了我是“搬運法”的修煉者,説了你能知道我在練這些方法,而我絕對不在練。 Are you sure you are not overestimating your abilities? You mistakenly judged that I was a practitioner of the "Transportation Method", and said that you knew that I was practicing these methods, but I was definitely not practicing. 怎麽確定那個“煩躁的氣"的來源沒有在自身内? How can you be sure that the source of that "irritable qi" is not within yourself? 這些不只是修辭性的問句。遠端診斷是需要特殊訓練的,否則誤判很容易。 These are not just rhetorical questions. Remote diagnosis requires special training, otherwise misjudgment is easy. -
Thank you for the sharing. And what do you think about the video?

Whether in the East or the West, it seems that not many people have much knowledge of the mysterious gate. My understanding is: not fixed and not moving. It is not within what movement and stillness can define. But it can have tentative or implied positions. Students can use these to practice (借假修真), to activate the effects.

Needing to feel absolute authority... So easy to unintentionally become an authoritarian. 76.人之生也柔弱,其死也堅強;萬物、草木之生也柔脆,其死也枯槁。 故堅強者,死之徒;柔弱者,生之徒。是以兵強則不勝,木強則折。強大處下, 柔弱處上。 In life, man is supple and tender; in death, he becomes rigid and stark. Myriad things such as grass and trees are supple and frail in life, and shrivelled and dry in death. Therefore, the rigid and stark are disciples of death, while the supple and weak are disciples of life. Therefore the army that uses strength cannot win, the tree that stands firm will break. The strong and large are subordinate, the soft and weak are superior. {not my own translation, just borrowing } -

In another thread, Awaken said I asked her which scriptures mentioned this concept, and she said she would not answer me. The reason is: But today we found out that the real reason she didn't answer me was that there was no ancient book of inner alchemy that proposed "turning qi into light". She just said in this post: This is a very complicated logic. So now right here Awaken admitted that the ancient Neidan scriptures did not talk about "turning qi into light". But her reason is this is because it is a just "very basic ability", so the books don't even need to tell us. So how does Awaken know what only the authors 1000 years ago were thinking, when nobody else knows this? I guess some other people may think that "black liver" means eating a lot of hot dogs every day. If you point out to them that ancient books don't talk about eating hot dogs every day, they could retort: But that's because eating hot dogs is a "very basic ability". Could be true I wonder what color your liver will be if you eat too many hot dogs. Might very well turn into the color of a raven -
In fact, there are different practices in the world that can be used to activate or intensify the phenomenon of internal light. I have encountered several. In other words, the phenomenon of light does not necessarily come spontaneously.

There are many teachers in Taiwan who will teach you spontaneous gong for no money or very low tuition. Some teachers and groups have a fairly deep knowledge of Taoism. However, the effect of "immortality" achieved through this is still unbelievable. There are many people in the world who practice spontaneous gong. As far as I know, they all eventually grow old and die the normal way.
