  1. Dark night of the soul

Connected with the topic I have found this quote much of interest, by Itzhak Bentove, Stalking the wild pendulum:
  2. When you have evenings alone, how do you spend your time?

if you want to grow solitude is helpful, maybe even necessary at some point. almost all great geniuses have been lonely people, this give you the freedom to do interesting things, like reading, working on yourself or some project, etc.
  3. Dark night of the soul

this dark night of the soul is a very interesting topic. But there is more to it than just meditation, not only in meditation this dark side we all have makes its appearance. In my case it often happens in dreams. This weekend I have dreamed quite a bit. Both Friday and Saturday I have had strange dreams, in which I can say some dark part of me has made its appearance. It is a dark part of me that is quite silent during the day, but it tends to make its appearance at night. Let's see how i fight against these demons, i don't know how i should attack them but i definitely will!

The very word Education is a tricky misnomer. The schools are not designed to educate but to domesticate. Their purpose is to train children like horses and dogs. Children are brainwashed and mind-conditioned to do the things and to think the thoughts which those in authority want them to do and to think. They are trained to accept without prejudice and to obey without question the dictates of authority. This training is so deeply instilled that only a few are ever able to recover from the effects of it, and they are smeared as enemies of civilization. By Hilton Hotema

  7. Your Experience of Standing Meditation

it is a pity they are no longer here after all these years. I didn't even know @freeform was no longer participating. Wonder why he left. And what about @Earl Grey? he was a veteran among us, he could explain us many things about ZZ. Hope he does some day
  8. Your Experience of Standing Meditation

don't get me wrong, shoulders also pained quite hard. It is just that the calves were a real problem for me. Shoulder pain probably came next.
  9. Your Experience of Standing Meditation

@NuralshamalI also remember I felt pain everywhere while doing ZZ, i remember well! specially in my calves, that was unbearable (the right calf more than the left). The calves were very sore and painful, no matter how much i stretched them, and i stretched them a lot. The more I did ZZ the more pain I felt there, I guess that was one of the reason I had to stop.
  10. Your Experience of Standing Meditation

Years ago I practiced zhang zhuang quite a lot. My first qi gong master was very very good at it, he loved the practice and always made us do it. It was funny, because I remember some students, specially the newcomers, suffered a lot. A LOT. Me too at first. I happened to train quite a lot the standing meditation, it was a challenge for me to endure for a long time in the position. I wanted to be as good as my teacher,. I trained it every single day for some time, until everything broke down. It was like my body didn't want to do the practice anymore, because every time I tried to do it all my body shook, from head to toes. My neck and head moved and shook a lot. I didn't know how to interpret these erratic movements, my teacher said it was good because it meant I was unlocking deep blockages. But I arrived at the conclusion that it was just my mind that didn't want to play that game again, like it was senseless to continue. I would have liked somehow, some part of me, to be able to stand for an hour effortlessly, like my teacher used to do, but I never could, and I decided it wasn't worth anymore to try. I chose to focus on other things.

  18. Yesterday I was reading posts writen by @voidisyinyang. He said that when you meditate during full moon your energy level can be 3 times higher than usual. Do you think that full moon has such an effect on human beings? Do you feel more energetic when you practice (or whatever you do) during full moon?
  19. Planning a solitary retreat

the date is approaching, let's see what i will or will not do
  20. I am planning to do a solitary retreat in November or December. Any ideas or recommendations? I am not sure if the topic has been discussed already in other threads. what do people typically do in such circumstances? I have never been on any kind of retreat, honestly. I should think what I would like to do to make the most out of it.
  21. I have found this info about the influence of the moon on our bodies:
  22. Planning a solitary retreat

yes, first of all I want to do something easy, like a weekend or half a week, just a few days. I want to dedicate that time to do something that helps me grow and improve, maybe meditation, maybe study something, maybe observe and be in nature, etc., I don't even know. I guess I still have to think about that.
