I have three treasures that I hold and cherish. The first is compassion, The second is frugality, The third is not daring to put myself ahead of everybody. Daode Jing - Chapter 67

In brief. This is an e-book published on 2004, the author learned briefly this form of Qigong on 1998 [Maybe it is 1988 because then it says it is already over 10 years]. In any case, this Qigong set is called the "Dragon-shape Soft body Art" and it is [according to the book] from the 'Nanji (South Pole) subsect of the 'Kunlun daoist School' as passed down by a certain Baiyun Kun Daoren then to the former director of the 'National Arts [Martial Arts] School of Shandong province' Mr. Lu Wenrui. It is a mixture of alchemy, self-developing, with various forms of Qigong, martial arts, well-being practices. YM

This is a modern form of (martial) Qigong. If you want the full text and the pics they are available here http://www.docin.com/p-684228.html YM EDIT: PDF e-book uploaded here e_book.zip

Thanks Scotty YM

You are right: you did not miss my 2 (two) grammatical question marks but you keep passing above my 2 (two) punctuational question marks - only for the sake of finding a reason for your ad hominem. Next time I'll have a question I'll make sure to consult Prof. Becker in advance for a spelling check before I post, would that suffice to reduce your anger ? YM EDIT: font size to help understanding
-
I guess you have missed the 2 (two) question marks I placed at the end of the sentence. I don't know in your country but in our grammar they stand for a question YM

As always I am glad to hear your opinion, Chris YM

Is this the same Kostas as the Chang/Djiang one ?!? http://www.taijichn.com/pro.php?smid=26 Interesting ... YM

Hi Scotty, ever heard the saying "there ain't no such thing as a free lunch" ? Sure. And who got enlightenment in that lineage, by the way ? YM

Craig, I think it was to this exact questions OF YOURS that I replied: But you can choose to believe whatever fits your needs better, of course, since here you are asking again. I quote from books because, apart from in these cases being written by academic authorities in the field, they are public material which you can check for yourself and maybe find confirmation to what I say. If I'd quote from the words of "mysterious teachers I met in a daoist cave" I am afraid my time would be wasted ... unless you'd find confirmation to your preconceived notions of *Maoshan*, in which case you'd accept the same as heavenly truth. As I said, do your math YM

If we speak of Maoshan Shangqing Pai then there are sub-sects but they all have the same structure. Everything is always possible, Cameron, but certain things are more - much more - probable than others. And, finally, having been in France and having spoken with a lot of french there I'd tend to believe that I know how to count to three This is the logic that escapes me. And, by the way, *effective* means a lot of different things to different people. For instance, by reading the Kunlun reports I wouldn't judge those results as "effective" from (my) a Daoist viewpoint. I would see them more as 'deviant'. But, needless to say, that's my point of view which can be agreed to or not. YM

This book, while dated, is still a good starting point http://www.amazon.com/Taoist-Meditation-Ma...y/dp/0791413608 Taoist Meditation: The Mao-Shan Tradition of Great Purity (S U N Y Series in Chinese Philosophy and Culture) (Paperback) by Isabelle Robinet (Author), Julian F. If we meet for a beer and you tell me how happy you are to have found a great teacher of french and that your first lesson was about numbers where you learned that 1=unos 2=dos 3=tres if my french was rusty but still decent I would feel your new teacher was not sincere - to say the least - with you. If we were friends or if I cared about you I'd probably feel compelled to warn you. By the same token, for one who knows a bit about Shangqing Pai and is informed about Daoism in Hawaii, to read comments on various threads about "Maoshan" here the same bell rings. Get yourself some of the good books, some are even monographies, written in the last 20-30 years about Maoshan/Shangqing Pai and see for yourself. You don't have or need to listen to what I say, you have to do your homeworks. Get yourself an engish-french dictionary YM

I appreciate your reply which is understandable of course. I am also of the idea that trusting the person which we have chosen to study with is fundamental to learn. At the same time, however, one has to remain open minded enough to at least hear what people have to say without being judgemental - especially when the information he works on come from a single source. Hands-on experience is paramount but can be tricky. The mind is fascinating but easy to be tricked as well. Thanks for your reply YM
-
Sorry, Cameron, but I fail to understand how meeting Max - for somebody who doesn't know anything about Shangqing Pai - would confirm or deny his relationship to this sect. Can you help me ? YM
-
Sure Scotty, you believe and I don't and as you say you do I say I don't. To be an american "land of the Free" you don't seem very open to let people express their ideas ... Not everyone: only you guys YM

I was speaking to/for those who are posting (were posting before I did) on this thread. They clearly have no clue and do so you if you agree or believe in ***Hawaii Maoshan Daoism*** In my opinion, of course, should I specify so ? YM
-
I am absolutely amazed at seeing how much you all have no clue about Maoshan Shangqing Pai and take some popular martial arts and dragon dance kind of stuff for 'esoteric daoism' <sic>. Impressive, really impressive, but in a negative way YM

Taoist Master Chuang... Real Thunder Path Teachings
YMWong replied to mwight's topic in General Discussion
Hopefully nobody will believe that the book has ANYTHING to do with "Thunderpath" of David Verdesi and the likes. Absolutely no relationship with that kind of stuff. YM -
The robe in the picture is now just a kind of 'uniform'. Would you buy and wear a police uniform if you had an interest in Police stuff ? Maybe ... Would you by a fireman uniform if you were crazy about their red trucks ? Maybe .... I personally would not, really, but I guess eveyone has his own views and taste on this kind of things No offence taken I would say. If a Daoist sees a layman wearing a robe the worst he can do is to smile YM
