@daobro, good to know, thanks! But beside that, never had an adverse reaction from Korahais system in itself?
-
Not that I'm aware of... I was just in the middle of an opera production in USA and those pains just appeared one morning and never left me since... We'll do and keep a diary to record if it exacerbates those even though I don't recall feeling it worse after FPCK practice. And thanks for your offer! I'll see first how it goes with this new acupuncture experience but I keep it in mind

He told me that apart from some Liver Yang rising, qi in my back meridians started to disperse horizontally. As for the pains, as I've wrote a few posts before, it's been almost two years that my middle and upper back are painful and nothing seems to do the trick to reduce it. With that, I have regularly acute pains in my lungs that my doctor could never explained as well because, same as my back, they are 100% healthy according to all tests. So, if those pains are coming from a more energetic angle, I just wanted to be sure that I wouldn't "fuel the fire" by continuing qigong practice...

Well, as I mentionned I think in one of my first post on this thread, I came to qigong via Anthony Korahais’ Flowing Zen Qigong (that is basically a rebranding of Wong Kiew Kit’s Shaolin Cosmos Qigong) and I got into the habit of starting my day with a short session of 15 minutes of it before getting into my FPCK morning routine. Could it come from there...?

Hi everyone, Sadly had a few tough weeks and I had to draw back on basically everything (from qigong practice to sport)... On another side, I met a new acupuncturist a few days ago (one that apparently studied directly in China) and he told me that for him, I was checking the box for the beginning of a deviation and that I should avoid qigong practices for the time being. From what I read in this thread, FPCK doesn't follow TCM rules so, can I still continue to practice or better put it aside and wait that everything is back into place before starting again? Thanks and wishing everyone a nice end of week 😇

I went to several with different specialties but nothing came up... Still, thanks for your kind words 😇

Got it three times, first time in 2021. But we ruled out long Covid with my doctor if that's what you have in mind.
-
Mostly the same, not bad but not as good as it was before 2020 even though I'm almost back at the same physical activity level I had then. But still, I wasn't sick often back then and now I'm catching every possible cold. And it's been almost two years that my middle back is somewhat painful without any mechanical reason and kinesitherapy/chiropractor/massages/acupuncture/qigong,... nothing changed it. So yeah, I guess that I'm stuck in that middle thing where it's not awful but not really feeling healthy

Thanks a lot for your long answer! 1) Already something here, I always have something like 30 minutes to an hour maximum between my morning session of FPCK and working on my voice... For the rest, except maybe 2 or 3 days, I managed to practice between 45 minutes and 1h in the morning (Vol. 1+ last MSW from Vol.2 some days) and a rotation between meditations from rest of Vol.2 in the evening (more or less 45 minutes) Regarding aerobic exercise, I walk everyday, go for a 5k three times a week and do some calisthenics at least 2 times a week. 2) As said above, I tend to practice almost everyday BTB but never to the point of doing it 18 times, I must say. 3) As I'm not seeing a lot from first two volumes, I thought that it wouldn't be useful to go further and learn new forms but I can definitely try it! 4) Sadly, as I'm living abroad, time of the Zoom classes don't work for me 5) Thanks for the informations regarding private sessions. I'll keep them in mind if this troubleshooting doesn't produce results And regarding your question about how long I've been singing classically, about 15 years now. On one side, breath and muscles attached to it are indeed quite strong but I wouldn't say that I'm in some satori while singing... I'm focused on the present moment but don't think there's sense of "high" in it. Thanks again for all your insights and I'll give this another shot!

Hi everyone, Coming back after a few months of practice and I'm starting to think that something doesn't click between me and FPCK... Managed to learn and practice first two volumes everyday for last 4 months but really nothing to show for it… I went back reading the thread and I saw that breathing exercises should be avoided with this chi kung and I realized that with my job (opera singer), I do breathing exercises everyday, some of them looking a lot like pranayama. Could it be the reason why I don’t feel any tangible results after that much time? Thanks a lot for any insights and wishing everyone a nice week!

Personal Practice Discussion Thread Request

Hi, would you be kind enough to set up a PPD for me, please? 😊 -
Thanks for your answer and no problem for the delay, it’s already so kind of you to take time answering questions you probably a million times! To answer your questions: 1) Yes, they tend to come more like long waves with some stopping moments. I just stay a little bit worried by my legs because following advices already given by Pak Satrio, I tried to keep my feet in same position but I always end up loosing my stance a little bit... 2a/b) Calmer and lighter in a way As I keep getting better, I'll try to get back to a more complete practice in the next days and see where it goes! Thanks again for your answer and advices! Ps: When you speak about tip of thumbs in the navel while palms covering lower dan tien in MHP, you mean litteraly in the navel or rather in front of it?

Hi everyone, Finally having enough energy to resume a standing practice after some time spend only on MHP (supine version) and I decided to practice same one but standing up and I find myself having a lot of spontaneous movement. But I was wondering how much movement is allowed? Should I keep hands where they are in mudra position or are arms allowed to move as well? Thanks for your insights and wishing everyone already a nice weekend!
-
Hi everyone, Just a quick question regarding Monk Holding Pearl in a supine position. After some difficult months, I decided to resume my practice by using supine MHP but I find myself often falling asleep while doing it. So I was asking myself, is it OK that I fall asleep without doing 3 full breaths closing sequence? Thanks for your insights!

Flowing zen, good for beginners?

Followed 101 and 201 here. Not an expert by any means in Qigong (trying to find a way in all of this) but here are my impressions on those courses. On one side, I agree with what was said above: Anthony Korahais answers students questions quickly. He's committed, likeable,... On another, I was a little bit disturbed by other things: - While searching in past posts of Facebook group, I saw that he encouraged one of the student to mix his Qigong with Fragrant Qigong moves (one of the things to know with Fragrant Qigong is that you never mix it with something else, considering that style is proned to interfering with others) - In 201, he teaches also 12 treasures that he learned apparently with Master Bingkun Hu. I was quite surprised when I discovered a video of that master teaching it as well: Closing part (not listed as one of the treasures) became first one and put as opening exercise, a lot of others were completely different between the two of them, and as Sifu Korahais transformed closing part into opening exercise, he completely ignores last treasure teached by Master Hu ( Primordial Qigong). - For this part, it's just a feeling so take it with a grain of salt: While browsing groups' posts on FB, I tend to notice a tendency of people having little aches here and there or symptoms (insomnia, digestion,...) that were quickly and easily labelled as growing pains or cleansing. If it is true that qigong practice can cause this, it gave me the impression that some people were constantly or quite regularly under those states. - Korahais said also to practice while emotional not being a big deal, even good to calm things down... I'm again not an expert, but it seems to be the only time I saw someone saying that it was ok to do energetic work while being angry/sad/... Here are my impressions and I'll end it by saying that if you want to make yourself an idea of what he teaches, you can buy his book. It comes with a little course that presents core of his Qigong method (5-Phase routine), so you can try his style and see how you feel about it without paying too much in the beginning.
