    From what I’ve read it takes 80 seconds to complete 1 repetition. Here’s what Terry said in one of his posts: “And the all-important first exercise, Circling Palms, is traditionally done in four sets of 8 repetitions. Each repetition is done at an ideal rate of 80 seconds each. That's 640 seconds or 8 minutes per set. and with a minute break between the four sets, that comes to 36 minutes just to complete Circling Palms properly!!!” Heres the link to that post:

    Hi one more thing, I know that we are supposed to move as slow as possible for circling palms, so I assume that connecting the breath with the movement is not needed for that. Does that also apply to the 4 other exercises. Or do we connect our breath and move at the speed at which it takes to breath in and out for the other exercises?

    Oh is it 3 times? I read one of Terrys post on another topic, he said 4 sets of 8. Should take about 36 min to complete circling palm.

    Yep i’m just worried that the Qigong or Neigong systems with Damo might contradict the FP system. But I suppose it’ll be alright as long as i separate the practices by at least 6 hours.

    Hi Sifu Terry, I’m doing Damo Mitchell’s course and he stated in his qigong videos that you should rise when you bring your hands up bringing your centre of gravity up and sink when you bring your hands down and doing the opposite would send the wrong instructions to the Qi and confuses the body. He stated that not only does Lao Gong direct the Qi but so does your centre of gravity. If your centre of gravity is high the Qi will gather at the chest area and if you sink it will gather at the lower Dan Tian. He say’s that when you do it the other way around “like in Flying Phoenix” and many other qigong systems where your hands rise as you sink you’re essentially giving two opposite instructions to the Qi and fighting yourself so your efficiency is greatly reduced. So I was wondering if it would be better to change it around so that my centre of gravity matches my hand movements. Would doing so mess anything up?

    Finally decided to create an account Currently doing Damo’s course alongside Flying Phoenix and TaoTanPai. It’s been almost a year now doing these arts, time really flies when you’re having a good time.
