I Have A Few Questions! Please, Help!
Teddy replied to DalTheJigsaw123's topic in General Discussion
1) Qigong. ...even if later you decide to learn tai chi, it will be completely empty without qigong. 2) Whenever you feel is right is right. 3) Depends on what style you are learning. It will always be faster to progress with a teacher, but often one is not absolutely necessary, and the internet can help with a lot of things. 4) Yes, there are ways to do this, but to get good at it could take a decade or more. Better to just start with a good qigong, and you will see rapid progress in just a few months. 5) Start with master Lam's 'The Way of Energy', then get his other books. Ken Cohens book 'Qigong, the art and science of Chinese energy healing' is also great, but not so much for teaching how to do it. 6) I dunno. I've seen some good tuition on youtube, but it is always in bits and pieces, and never very in depth. and some of the guys 'teaching' on youtube, are just cringeworthy (eg that phony yoga meditation guy). All the best! 1) Qigong. ...even if later you decide to learn tai chi, it will be completely empty without qigong. 2) Whenever you feel is right is right. 3) Depends on what style you are learning. Where should a beginner to Tao start? Tai Chi or Qi Gong?
Teddy replied to DalTheJigsaw123's topic in General Discussion
A beginner to Tao? ...Is it Chinese taoist culture you are interested in? ...or developing your chi? ...or philosophy? Qigong is a very broad blanket term that could apply to numerous very different practices ranging from sitting and meditating, to the hard qigong practiced by Shaolin monks that involves smashing iron bars over your head etc. If you want a practice that will quasi-miraculously change your life, I would recommend Lam Kam Chuen's books - Start with 'The way of Energy'. -
Is there such a thing as a Taoist Diet?
Teddy replied to DalTheJigsaw123's topic in General Discussion
There is a whole section on diet in Kenneth Cohen's book 'Qigong the art and science of Chinese energy healing'. However, reviewers almost unanimously say that this is the worst part of the book - I think this is because the advice goes against what most nutritionists would say. However, this is a fabulous book overall, and I highly recommend it. -
I also live in the windy and rainy uk. I often feel like practicing outside in the wind and rain. The only reason that I dont is that I have read in many different places not to practice in the wind or rain. Can anyone give the exact reason why this is a bad idea?

Jeff... Your website looks amazing. I have been saving money to buy the complete set of books and dvds. After reading your posts here, I will be spending the money on something else. The fact that you have taken no techniques at all from your teachers is not a selling point. Most traditional forms of qigong have HUNDREDS of years of history, with masters adapting them ever so slightly as they get passed along. You are arrogant enough to think that you can invent a form of qigong that is completely new. -And then you arrogantly tell people to 'humble themselves' -I dont see much humility coming from you! 'The crappy food in your house' -just rude. You keep going on about how people are full of ego. ...yet you play the childish game of "I will not be posting on this forum again" (why? Is it beneath you? Are you too good for it?) ...and then posting again anyway (I guess you saw some more 'low virations' after you checked again). hahahahaha and what really made me laugh is how you end with "humble bow" -If you are truly humble we should be able to tell without you having to write it down. And the truth is that despite telling us that you give a 'humble bow', the way you come across is not humble.

Does anyone practice this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/155939308...;pf_rd_i=507846 -apparantly its a complete spiritual system. Its a very good book.

Do a search on pirate bay for 'qi gong course complete'. It should be there.

mm hmm. I think you're not wrong. -This isn't really related, but also I can't beleive the arrogance of clinical psychiatrists. I hope one day we wont have any. I'm not being negative. I'm being hopeful... see back there, second line down I said it - 'hope'. NEVER BE PROUD OF IGNORANCE. NEVER BE ASHAMED OF KNOWLEDGE.

I have read countless studies similar to this one, that show various psychological therapies and treatments to be very effective. The question is: after these studies are done why are the therapies that were shown to be effective not more widely practiced

Beginning Questions About Being A Vegetarian
Teddy replied to DalTheJigsaw123's topic in General Discussion
What couldn't you handle? How did you feel? -
If you hadn't done the introspective work, you would probably mistake what you are now 'feeling on the inside' as coming from the others that you are interacting with.
-
No. Vaccines dont work. They are a con.

Beginning Questions About Being A Vegetarian
Teddy replied to DalTheJigsaw123's topic in General Discussion
By becoming vegetarian you will help the environment in many many ways. The space needed for meat to be produced per meal is HUNDREDS times more than the space needed for vegetarian food. You will help save the amazon, as one of the main reasons it is cut down is for ranches. You will reduce your carbon footprint. It benefits the cows, pigs, chickens, sheep etc that will not be... eaten, genetically modified, fed drugs, battery farmed, slaughtered etc. Globally there is supposedly a food shortage. There would be NO SUCH THING if everybody was veggie. It is good for you. Vegetarians suffer less from heart disease, and on average live longer. None of the things I have mentioned so far depend on the person. You start by cutting out any dead animals from your diet. All the nutrients that you might miss can be got from other sources. ...egg, beans, nuts, (and marmite for B vitamins. Do you have that in the states?), but really you dont need to become a nutritionist. I am one of the healthiest people I know, and I have never really done much but eat what I want and not have any meat. -
hahahahahahahaha touche! He needs a bit more control of the Hui Yin point before he reaches my level of mastery. Anyway, in all seriousness... why does it matter whether 'the spiritual' as you call it is at work or not, if you get results?

Ok. You want the truth, youstinck? I have gained special skills from my practice. 1) I can fart beathovens 9th in its entirety. 2) I can change the channel on the tele through will power alone, DONT EVEN NEEED a remote control!!! 3) I can telepathically communicate with mosquitos, and give them third eye orgasms at a distance by simply looking at them. Can I prove it? I can prove the first two. Many people have seen me perform these miraculous feets and will testify as to my mastery. -the third one is a little harder to prove, but why would I make the claim if it wasn't true??? As for those simple effects that you mention such as peace of mind, I think that the rumours we hear of these are mainly made up as a form of publicity. Piddling skills that have no use in the real world such as 'genuine happiness', don't really interest me. I mean reeeeeaally!?! ...living longer, being stronger, having more focus and concentration, having next to no illness or disease, moving and living with ease and grace, feeling alive.... PAH! I prefer to keep it real and concentrate on developing genuinely exciting powers. My next gaol is to meditate for 100 days in a cave, eating only toffee popcorn, in the hope of being able to drive my car using telekinesis.

Do you believe in holistic medicine or non-metaphorical chi/prana/orgone/...?
Teddy replied to nac's topic in General Discussion
This is a very badly worded question. Do I BELIEVE in holistic medicine???? ...I know of the existance of homeopathy, qigong, alexander technique, ayurveda, reflexology, acupuncture, shiatsu, nutritional therapy, rolfing, osteopathy, crystal healing and many more. I have wildly DIFFERENT opinions about all of them. If you are asking do I believe in the EFFICACY of holistic medicine as a whole, you need to be more specific. Do I believe in chi, or do I believe in orgone? there IS a difference. Asking if somebody believes in chi is similar to asking "Do you believe in life?" or "Do you believe in energy?". Here's my question. What do you mean by 'metaphorical chi'? What is that?? -
I've read some books by the author CHristopher Penczak, and I think he's excellent. However apart from his books I haven't seen any that appeal to me. A LOT of them seem to be feminist in a weird unbalanced hate men sort of way. I think its really naff and silly how they pretend that they are following some ancient celtic tradition when they know that their religion was mostly invented by Gerald Gardner, and the rest comes from either places like India or Kaballa or rosicrucianism... etc There seems to be a lot of picking bits and pieces from here and there. I also think its naff how 'Dungeons and Dragons' it is -the way they give themselves silly names, and dress up like Gandalf or something. As for real 'wiccans' that I've actually met they are some of the most annoying fools I've come across. An unbalanced proportion of them are seriously over weight (however, that is the same in qigong/tai chi circles) They are arrogant. LOADS of them are gay! (I dont have a problem with gayness, I just dont get why this particular form of spirituality attracts so many)... ...and it seems 9 times out of ten they wont know what they are talking about. The ones that are more genuine often seem to use 'wicca' as some sort of escapism, and a way to make themselves feel bigger and more important/powerful than they actually are. -Nothing wrong with this, people can genuinly need such a thing. It is just my observation. See for yourself -just look at all the homemade videos on youtube of angry, angsty, overly defensive, pretentious wiccans on youtube. Anyway, I would recommend Christopher Penczak, but have yet to be impressed by anything else to do with wicca.

What reason do you have for saying this? I think he's fabulous.
-
Could the people who have said that Chunyi's course is better please give their reasons? On the surface it seems Ken's is better. He includes more active qigong and more meditations. He includes more theory and explanations, and he includes a training regime (which chunyi doesn't) His course includes versions of all the meditations that are in sfq. So why do people say that the sfq course is better? Also, why do people assume that Chunyi has more 'qi abilities'? Ken Cohen has been studied by scientific clinics because of his extraordinary abilities to emit chi. Is Chunyi just very good at creating rumours and hearsay? ie has anyone actually seen him levitate????
-
Oh ok. Has anyone here taken lessons with Ken, or done his teacher training?
