Video, but not youtube. http://vimeo.com/76364379 Most people admire leaders, athletes, celebrities.... This guy is my new role model; I want to be like him.

I always thought they did. USed to get emotional when my mom threw old broken toys away, made me sad to think of these things I used to love rotting away in the trash somewhere. I don't know how many old people are left with depression mentality to save everything; my grandmother was one of them and organized clutter with goat trails through certain rooms seemed like a treasure cave to me. I try not to save too much clutter, but still sort of an emotional process. I don't know about perception, but old well loved things have a different energy than new shiny things or old trashed things piled up carelessly. It seems like the materialistic mind set to buy things and not even really use them effects the people too, so sort of a give a take with inanimate things and perception. I don't know how. How about rocks and crystals? Crystals sort of new agey, but they do seem to have energy. There was a big old rock high over the stream at my kids' preschool that seemed to understand things right used to be my thinking and meditation place, haven't talked to that old friend for a while.

Being a badass bench presser, jing energy qigong

I think hydrogen meant reverse bench press as focus on eccentric lowering rather than reverse grip. -
How not knowing ones path could be a much greater form of wisdom and power
zanshin replied to skydog's topic in General Discussion
Lilies of the field and all that. I think living in the present can be it's own sort of spirituality. Goals get boring and frustrating for me then sometimes I end up doing it by epiphany once I give up anyway. Went hiking with kids and dogs couple weeks ago. I sat on a rock near where the path crossed a stream while they went way upstream and explored, blissing out and becoming one with nature. Really not that peaceful since kids and dogs are way noisy. Voices had gotten pretty far away so went to bring them back to the path. So, as I go am wondering where did the path start again, what if we get lost, eww sure is muddy, eek poison ivy! They found an awesome little sandstone cave way upsteam on a hillside. Hope I can remember the way to get there. -

Does sound fun. Do you want them by pm and then publish by voting? What is end date for submission? I don't know if I'll write one, but did get an idea.

If a Time Travel Machine is Built in the Future, Then..

What do we want? Time Travel! When do we want it? It's irrelevant. -
Off topic derail, MPGs tips of saving money; now Prosperity and how to make money
zanshin replied to skydog's topic in The Rabbit Hole
Being frugal is sort of an interesting mental exercise in and of itself and generally lessens environmental impact too. Thanks for the tech tips, not my forte. Have been washing my hair with baking soda, less money and less harmful chemicals on my head and down the drain, hair feels good and not itchy. -
If you got sudden severe acne that the acne treatment made worse, perhaps not acne. Maybe google impetigo, eczema, dermatitis and tinea and see if resembles any of those.

When you look out over the ocean or clear span of horizon a curvature is evident. I have wondered how old sailors, as well as scholars, could ever have believed the world was flat.

Mak Tin Si did some fabulous posts specifically about Chinese New Year and practices to prepare for that. Tin Yat, I would love to hear your perspective for Ghost Month, Moon day or any other upcoming Taoist calendar events. Thank you

The Longevity Project: Surprising Discoveries for Health and Long Life from the Landmark Eight-Decade Study
zanshin replied to Mal's topic in General Discussion
I like case studies too, have sort of decided statistics do not really apply to me because I am a case study. Not sure how you objectively measure persistence, hard work, meaningful and interesting, seems like a flying leap to judge lives as consequential or not. Nuclear weapons developer was rated highly successful instead of worse than every slacker ever for some reason. I think retiring early to garden and read philosophy is more meaningful and jumping a motorcycle off a cliff is more interesting than over seeing making weapons that can wipe out the planet. Like a sciency twist on the old religious work ethic line- work hard and be productive, be nice and upstanding in your community, conform to the ideals of society- and you will be blessed. Those who do not live long and prosper were probably not resilient, prudent and conscientious. Ah well, feeling love for the crazy old hippies who did die young, study is probably onto something, man those guys were cool though. -

Just did, still think bad science. Correlation is not causation. Probably should not have said anything since it was meant to be nice and inspirational. -

Was this publically funded to learn healthy people have nicer and longer lives? If participants were young many of them should have outlived Dr. Terman, so who finished the study? How long did he live anyway? If he did not make it to at least 72, i'm not sure he could have been a good meaningful person. Who decided what is meaningful? Is a short tragic life of a rebel or artist not meaningful? Why? These are things i wonder about. Still less duh factor than the natural wetlands are better than man made wetlands study. -

Another spin on help others to help yourself, why do we always have to be told to help others to get something? People who are depressed, having pain or chronically ill probably are less likely to have energy for work, social and family relationships. Hard to really tell cause and effect in this study. Health could be more environmental and genetic and purpose and benevolence follows from robust health. Perhaps more the natural human condition, in the absence of physical and mental ailments and difficulties, people have more positive relationships and purposeful lives. -
Yes, saw it a few weeks ago and bought his albums on iTunes. Beautiful story.

I hope he's okay, from what I understand he is bona fide. In some systems, masters go through stages where they need to conserve their energy to reach new attainments. Please post if anyone finds any information.

I would think if a blogger should at least find and read the actual studies instead of making a lot of conjecture based on the abstracts. The study I posted shows good empirical methodology from western science perspective, doesn't seem like people very interested in reading research papers though.

Yan Xin is first on the list of authors in the 2013 study.

So he is still doing research, looks like positive results. http://www.karger.com/Article/FullText/343354 Edit- it looks like qigong charged water or plant extracts were used, so that may how it was done without him leaving China.
