There is some Indian food sort of like an empanada, but with mashed up potatoes and peas and onion and garlic and of course curry as the filling. Iwant to know what that is called so I can get or make some more.

Lots of good things to eat besides meat. I think there is a perception that vegetarians just eat salads and tvp and have boring meals. Really experimenting with vegetarian dishes can help widen food repertoire and make eating a little more mindful, lots of people just eat the same meat dishes over and over.

TVP is dreadful, but grilled portabellas are divine.

A computer does not have a limbic system. Some cultures seem to do better at taking care of elderly than others. Have you read any of Elizabeth Kubler Ross work?

more to it than operating system organisms have instinct and will to survive. Your computer does not care if it crashes. A rabbit runs and hides to survive, humans use intellect.

Vegetarians...what is your breakfast, lunch and dinner like?
zanshin replied to skydog's topic in Healthy Bums
I'm not a full time vegetarian more sporadic, but lots of good things to eat. Baked sweet potatoes are easy and healthy, some supermarkets have sald bars and sometimes I fill my containers with different veggies and make salads all week for lunch- not too good by end of week if put it all in one container initially, also my salads often don't have lettuce in them. Soups and casseroles with beans, rice and veggies generally freeze well if you like to make your own meals, pasta can get soggy and weird if you freeze it, quinoa should freeze ok but haven't tried it. You can blenderize your fruit and kefir to make smoothies, lots of smoothie recipes online. Oatmeal and toast with pesto and cheddar cheese- those are my vegetarian comfort foods- and more soup. -
Animals die all the time and although they too can be ravaged by disease and age and the hard drive may be a little simpler, it stays running much cleaner than the human version. So they go about their life and do try to preserve it, yet not much angst about inevitable death except for times when there is actually a threat. Old animals seem to know when it's time and go off somewhere quiet to lay and wait. It is possible to think and understand things without words and texts and analysis. Well the guy in the clip was silly, but I think some people are more practical about wanting to live on a farm. I know I can live on a farm because that is where I grew up. Hobby has been looking for country place sort of for permanent campsite for now and retirement place later and may be getting close on one with potential. So, I will put in an order. Plans to retire fairly young and get a place already pending fairly well, so order is for part harder to control. Want 20 years post retirement with good health and mobility, will be gardening, making raspberry wine and maybe alpacas. Then, I want to go suddenly when a brain aneurysm bursts while I am sitting on the patio drinking tea and watching the birds. Finally, they should cremate me and my nephew can put the ashes in the fertilizer spreader and lay me down on the home farm. And that is my order for how to die, wish me luck ok.

But Professor, you told me in post 83 there is no way possible to understand things beyond the intellectual level.

I don't think it was a good job at all, problems of aging like arthritis, osteoporosis, cancer, senility. My neighbor who retired to be diagnosed within the year with parkinsons and colon cancer said whoever called it the golden years he'd like to punch them in the mouth. If I was a creator, I would give people a nice suffering violence free time to enjoy themselves at least after reproductive years and peacefully fade out after a determined time to wrap things up. So are you worried about idea of afterlife or you just want to fadeout without suffering?

You don't take risks even if they can be hedged. Your ultimate exit point is still a risk and no one here or probably anywhere else can help you understand things right. Making judgements might seem authoritative but it does not take intellect to throw out subjective adjectives- good bad, neat, tough, great, ambiguous, creative, uptight. Why, and still what does this mean how to die? Perhaps help us understand what objective criteria would determine a successful or ideal exit point?
-
You have some background in technical analysis and Elliott wave theory? You know how sometimes you look at a chart know what's going to happen without a lot of intellectual analysis? I think it's sort of like that, you can analyze and intellectualize, but eventually you understand things beyond that level.

So if global warming is nonanthropogenic or nonexistent, still lots of ways to hack up the Earth. http://news.yahoo.com/mexico-earthquakes-linked-wastewater-injection-135333327.html;_ylt=AsM68lXhlPS8EAMeA8lKb2nQtDMD -
How about if instead of this word worship we said for inspiration or celebration. I think I naturally build them and upkeep them, but as a philosophical Taoist it's not really about worship.

Trying to hold the diaphragm down worked last night. Not quite sure what that means or how or if I did it, but thanks!

Maybe we need older role models than Jesus, Buddha and Lao Tsu. Shakti and Shiva, Nuwa and Fuxi.

I don't completely agree with this incarnation, but I don't completely disagree either. Perhaps people can evolve. -

Rudyard Kipling If If If you can keep your head when all about you Are losing theirs and blaming it on you; If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, But make allowance for their doubting too; If you can wait and not be tired by waiting, Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies, Or, being hated, don't give way to hating, And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise; If you can dream - and not make dreams your master; If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim; If you can meet with triumph and disaster And treat those two imposters just the same; If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools, Or watch the things you gave your life to broken, And stoop and build 'em up with wornout tools; If you can make one heap of all your winnings And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss, And lose, and start again at your beginnings And never breath a word about your loss; If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew To serve your turn long after they are gone, And so hold on when there is nothing in you Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on"; If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue, Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch; If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you; If all men count with you, but none too much; If you can fill the unforgiving minute With sixty seconds' worth of distance run - Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it, And - which is more - you'll be a Man my son!
