  4. How to die, while remaining alive

Dreaming mind and awake mind intertwine as does the past and future, pain and joy fear and bliss and other emotions can blend together too. First love that made me cry, the boy I thought I couldn't live without, now I look back and smile mmm old good times. But detached contentment is not a goal for me. Does not sounds like much fun, but I am an artist, bring on the joy and bring on the pain, these things fire the soul, so maybe they are the devil, well bring him too, that's inspiration baby! Also I really don't like labels, something well made with inconspicuous label or even better handmade stuff without a label, that's the one I want. I even take a sharpie and black the label off my electronics, looks better that way.
  5. How to die, while remaining alive

Rather die while I'm living than live when I'm dead. Why do you think you're enslaved and analyze one is real and one is fake? Where did the devil and things of the devil come from, but if they're fake then you never were enslaved so why worry about it? What if it's all fake or all real or all somewhere between fake and real? Ever been afraid of things in the dark then felt a little silly when you turned the lights on? If you were adopted who is your real mom and fake mom? One gave you birth, one raised you, all part of who you are or aren't.
  6. How to die, while remaining alive

The past is not fake it makes us who we are physically and spiritually, mind body and spirit intertwine in life. This moment of change is the culmination of the old things. You exist and your hand exists. Are you separate from your hand? Try hitting it with a hammer, your hand exists and it will quickly change as result of a real action. Each moment is new, yet arises from the old.
  7. How to die, while remaining alive

I like talking to people who have died and came back. I work in a hospital so have had quite a few chances to do this. I have talked to some who have some breathtaking storied, but quite a few say there's nothing- and that can be a life changer too. Not so good a story if there's nothing, then again maybe it is. I really like people's hands too. Hands tell a story- age, physical labor, pain and health issues, wear and gnarl our hands. I think old people's hands are especially beautiful, telling their stories of the work they did, the children they held, joys and sorrows written deep to the bone. I look at my own hands and sometimes I'm not sure they are my hands, since they're not the hands they used to be. In another ten years they will be different hands again. Oh, the adventures we can have!
  8. "This Shouldn't Happen Here"

very nice, being able to stay calm when a conflict situation seems to be winding up and the primitive fight or flight brain wants to kick in I think is a very difficult and useful skill. I've been in situations where guys have been yelling at me and stayed calm, helps to have a weird sense of humor and secretly find it funny. But fair chance I could outfight them and definitely could outflight, so really not too scary, confidence in your ability to respond to violence if necessary can offset the innate panic response to strike back or run.
  9. "This Shouldn't Happen Here"

Without capacity for violence, peace can be submission rather than a choice. I don't think it is learned though, part of human nature. If it wasn't what did we learn it from anyway? Very young children try out hitting, kicking, wrestling, even biting, although no one did those things to them. Fight or flight response very deeply hard wired into our brains. So if that mean dog slips his chain and attacks a kid. what's the right course of action? Do you reason with the dog, stand back and accept it's mean dog nature, or would you try to pull it off hit it in the head, shoot it? Fortunately in most circumstances we are also capable of using other ways to communicate than violence.
  10. People

More boring not boring, boring is a relative not an absolute state, because all things hold at least some interest and I am never bored because there is so much to do and learn in the world, but some things appeal more than others. I'd rather work in the garden than do my taxes, rather play fetch with the dog than type on the computer. Hmm... later guys
  11. People

Conceptions are a problem, what occurs is what occurs. The way we conceive and perceive and not what happens determines whether it is awesome or not. Sinfest, I like it, both your posts, sometimes overthinking and organizing makes ideas more boring.
  12. People are smart in different ways. I might have same brain structure, but if was transported back to time of ancients I definitely wouldn't live any smarter and better than they, likely my brain wouldn't even work well enough to keep me alive. I think societies that live in nature are better at seeing patterns and interpreting them, in some ways modern people are more "primitive." We rely on science and technology, but we lose visual perceptual skills and the ability to interpret and intuit with our brains. http://www.wiplayers.com/home/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=435:creative-thinking&catid=34:home&Itemid=113
  13. Heat

Cold this weekend, furnace wouldn't come on, guy coming out Even with heat in the house, I freeze all winter long. I'd be happy if I could keep the house about 78 degrees. Can't afford that (especially with what I'll probably have to pay the furnace guy) and not environmentally good anyway. Fall barely here and already tired of being cold. Any practises, tips, dietary guidelines to be more comfortable?

Thank you. yay, red wine Cold showers might help, love long burning hot showers even though I know it's awful for my skin and hair, that and the car, I crank up the heat and some music- happy place.

  18. Heat

Soup, skiing, hmm...that's about it. Breakfast is a good idea, usually it's granola bar and fruit. I don't want to cook too much in the morning, but maybe I will switch to hot oatmeal and fruit.
  19. Heat

yeah baby, lets go run! Training for half marathon, if anything I think I might be overtraining a little, sure warm for a while after long runs, but cold and worn out rest of time. Time to level out after race, will try prostrations, some of the breathing practices and sipping hot water or tea. My hands do get warm and fingers sometimes even swell a little with moving qigong, but that doesn't seem to last long afterward. Wish I could do qigong at work, thermostat controlled by menopausal women, so there I even wear a sweater in the summertime. I can run in the summer though, 90 degrees heat index unsafe- I'll go run 10 miles. Don't have tips on how to do that though, just not bothered by heat.
  20. Heat

oh my, tummo does look interesting...and complicated. Yeah, I do like the feeling of going out to run on cold day, once I finally warm up feel like I can run forever and then when I stop stay warm a for a few hours. I don't know about my circulation, heal quickly, no medical issues, but hands and feet cold most of the time.
  21. Heat

Nice, mmm, time for some tea. got my cashmere socks and left over chili too. Back to 70 anyway, still a little chilly, I am pathetic. May just try to pack on the pounds after race in a couple weeks.
