  1. Conflict between Work and Consciousness

But it's really hard to work and study when you're unconscious, that would be the difficult thing Maybe take breaks to stay conscious of you body, no more than 30 minutes poring over written material, set a timer. Ding, get up, scan your body for pain or tension, stretch, drink water, look at something farther away for a few minutes, if a lot of work maybe just short breaks that won't take much time and quality of work should better anyway. Then be conscious and mindful when you're brushing your teeth or walking to the mailbox or whatever, focus on environment and details and sensations. Be in the moment not off in your mind barely engaged enough to get simple tasks done. If you have a lot of studying do physical or social things for relaxing, avoid tv and computer.
  2. How do you guys do it?!?!?!?!

Does your "simple life" involve living in your parents house? Try to see it from your dad's perspective instead of grumbling about the guy. You actually can work 12 hour shifst when you're 18. A plan to work less than 12 hour shifts by the time you're 28 and then have simple life while supporting yourself would be reasonable and fair to everyone. Since you have been home with minimal responsibilities the past three weeks hopefully the house is now sparking clean, all laundry and yard work done and all your parents electronics running perfectly.
  3. Tried it too, still needed coffee, but it helped! Thanks!
  4. A Thought

Give birth to new worlds? Time to cut that cord!
  5. Once when I was a child my family raised chickens. One chicken for whatever reason became a something of a pet to me. My dad butchered it, my mom cooked it up- and that was a Sunday dinner that I did not eat.
  6. The Path of the Confused

    Wheeeeeeeee! Aw...thanks, lovely sister friend.
  7. The Path of the Confused

Damn and I run like a girl too. I want to be a cheetah, I want to be the wind. I don't really care to be a Taoist, but want to flow with the Tao.
  8. Friendship

I feel like all are friends, while having less traditional bonded friends. I really do like most people on an individual basis. Oh, so-and-so is great, I love them, umm...I really don't them very well Seems like people float in and out of my life, I enjoy them while they're around and then they're off my radar. I'll help people out and do social things when asked and it fits my schedule, but I don't really seek people out. Find I don't really get into social events, interactions with individuals or small groups are great, noise and crowds I drift off somewhere to go look at the sky. Maybe I should make more nature loving friends, but nature already is my best friend.
  9. The Path of the Confused

I think it's okay to be a drifter and a dabbler. Yeah you do need some way to support yourself. If you're going to have a family definitely a committment, can't just dabble with that. I don't know wanted to be lots of things when I was in my 20s, now 20 years later I'm still not most to them and plenty dreams turned to dust and darker. Have 2 boys, feel like living half my life at a ballfield and cooking food and looking for socks. Love it, no impressive acheivements. Got a job I like, don't work too hard at and no big money worries, but probably never going to have big fancy house or car and that's fine. I think we have a really goal oriented culture and maybe miss a lot of the scenery and roadside attractions charging toward those goals. I have goals as far as lots of interest I'd like to explore simply because I like it, more doing things because I want to rather than to accomplish it because I feel I should or to be something. Still don't know what I want to be, don't care, I'm just me.
  10. When you're sick...

Rest and a little introspection, take it easy but why did you get sick? Then once you're past stage of feeling so ill can hardly do anything, if you recognize bad patterns gently start working on fixing them, clean house (literally and figuratively), let some fresh air in, give or throw things away that you don't need anymore so your mental posture and message to the universe is reset.
  11. Okay tulku, I might sort of like you okay. I also sort of agree with witch, not to extent of the bdsm stuff, but I feel like it might be good for you to get your hands dirty, rolling around in the piss and shit of humanity can be more beautiful than the view from an ivory tower. Oh, I don't like that view that people somehow deserve what they get because of past karma, not at all. But it's cute how much you like Ron, maybe you're not completely self righteaous and uptight. Anyway, I already am immortal, or at least so far, so good. Sun's shining and my feet don't even hurt, blessings of the divine.
  12. Minor Electric Current?

Everything that happens in the body is due to electricity. Sometimes I set off antitheft detectors in stores when feeling a lot of qi type energy.
  13. Thoughts, like blowing leaves

The lost water got old and slow and then was gone. Perhaps it will rain today in certain places.
  14. First, it's not correct that the latissimus dorsi connects to the hip. It attachs to spinous processes in the midback and to thoracolumbar fascia which is connective tissue in mid to low back. Could be correct that this muscle contributing to the crazy hip thing though, when shoulders or spine not symmetrical hips pulled out of alignment too. Then again the lat tightness could be compensatory for something lower in the body out of alignment. So usually not so straight forward to say some specific muscle is the problem, everything is chained together. Definitely good to learn basic anatomy, looks like already some good resources suggested. But don't be frustrated if what you experience doesn't fit perfectly with patterns you see in books. Also sort of hard to understand how important fascia is from books, more apparent if you took a dissection class, which you probably won't, but it's connective tissue that flows, holds and slides between muscles, skin and pretty much everywhere else in the body and can cause all sorts of weird effects.
  15. How did you objectively determine this fact of superiority? What criteria did you use? If another person was superior by this criteria would you serve them? How about those who serve the poor, the disabled or children? Maybe they could be considered objectively inferior in some way, but to me this shows more love than to serve the divine (For Enlightenment).
  16. What's divine and what isn't? Does the idea of divine and not imply an inferior/superior mentality? Should you serve the divine or should the divine serve you?
  17. Do people get what they deserve?

there would have to be reincarnation, no, not in this lifetime, not coming around
  18. How do you prepare your tea?

It occured to me that my teabag in the cup in the microwave routine is probably wrong on many levels.
  19. The sound of one hand clapping

depends what you clap it on.
  20. Cure myopia naturally

Yes, I've been doing a similar routine to gih a few years and improved a few diopters, still a ways from perfect. As you spend time without correction you will notice how fluid the quality of your vision can be, get out of the mindset that quality of sight is set in stone and start making connections and inferences.
  21. Wu Wei and Similar Philosophies

Did they really? I doubt the evaluating manager followed around individual workers. Managers mostly look at numbers and assume that productivity is connected to long hours. Maybe could start and stop times a little more flexibly- some came early some stayed late, they focused on doing their job til it was done or they took breaks when they were tired instead of doing sloppy work and arguing about stupid stuff-thus great productivity and harmonious environment.
  22. Alexander method teaches shoulder blades lightly down and back (make a V into the lower back) to improve normal everyday posture rather than puffing the chest out or pulling shoulder blades straight back.
  23. My health on the table

A good manual technique for headaches that start in back of the head. http://www.fammed.wisc.edu/our-department/...cipital-release
