  1. Corrupt a Wish.

Full version of official Chinese government sanctioned teachings only becomes popular in West. I wish my retirement funds were doing better.

  3. Corrupt a Wish.

the tea is so nice, you'll never have tea quite as good again though so you will always be terribly disappointed after this one. And for White Rabbit- I'm granting yours no problem, to the best of my ability, the downside is I don't have much power in that regard. I wish I could do 100 pushups with good form.
  4. Corrupt a Wish.

Invisible evil psychos go unchecked. I wish for nice sunny 70 degree days this weekend.
  5. How to properly thank a person

Can we do better than a thank you? I have been trying to look for instances where I can give back twice.
  6. Favorite Prayers?

I like this one- Navajo Beautyway Prayer As I walk, as I walk The universe is walking with me In beauty it walks before me In beauty it walks behind me In beauty it walks below me In beauty it walks above me Beauty is on every side As I walk, I walk with Beauty. Really I just like the candy, little moments- the perfect parking spot when I'm in a hurry, my kid making a winning score at sports, whatever silly little thing it can't be all bad- don't ask for those things, but I savor the sweetness, the feeling of being in harmony with the universe, realizations that life is indeed filled with sweet beauty.
  7. are others real?

  12. How do we teach peace and harmony?

I absolutely agree with by example is the best answer. Had a self defense teacher who once made a comment re. we have too much pretend violence in our society and not enough real violence- and I agree with his point which is seeing movies and games playing at shooting and fighting gives kids a mistaken understanding of what this really is, but if something real happens to you or your friend or family we see it is very serious and want to make sure it never can happen again and hopefully have empathy that we'd never want it to happen to anyone else. So I think keeping young people not too sheltered from reality and consequences of violence, practical and positive ways to apply this might be volunteer work helping and getting to know people who have had real problems caused by violence in the world.

We're apple picking reveal secrets of knowing it is full of worms (are they brain worms?!)
  14. Where does violence come from?

It does start early in children and not always synonymous with anger, young boys play at wrestling and fighting all the time and it can be lots of fun for them- then in adults we many martial arts practitioners in this group- so is sparring in class with your friend enjoyable? and we have war games, sports contests etc. Part of it is what we are and maybe some violence and conflict is healthy. Do newborns babies know love and happiness?- we really don't know what is going on inside their heads, even though they may not be able express things I think we feel most of the range of human emotions and drives very young and very intensely. Emotions come from the limbic system as do basic fight or flight type behaviors deeply ingrained in our core. As we get older higher centers develop to control these primitive urges, we can never eliminate violence and conflict but perhaps thru learning cause and effect and empathy with others we can learn to temper it.

  16. The finger giver on the road I can handle, with strangers I tend to assume they are might be rushing see someone in the hospital or having a really bad day. Working in health care have gotten to the point where I can feel compassion for people or at least be relatively unfazed by those who act mean and grumpy toward me. Now friends and family is another story, wow can they push my buttons.
  17. I think this is the difference, my opinion is I like chocolate better no big deal, a judgement would be to say chocolate is best for all and anyone who wouldn't like it best must have some sort of deficiency.

I take your last line spinning it thru some wild curves it's back no harm done
  20. Growing with the Tao

We have a couple raised beds (made with old railroad ties). I grew up on a farm, thought it horribly boring when I was a kid, but now I'd like to have at least a few acres in the country somewhere. You should be able to start pretty soon for cool season crops, mid to late MArch for Conneticut (no tomatoes or eggplant til May)- plant peas, lettuce, spinach, be sure to plant radishes too very easy to grow from seed and quick to mature- about as close to instant gratification as there is for gardeners.
  21. focus on others

For people in general, part of my morning practice is to dedicate a little time to thinking about my family, friends and acquaintances- then maybe I think about if anyone needs help or some extra time, maybe if someone comes to mind who I haven't seen a while or just would like to talk to might call. Helps to watch your calendar and write things down makes people happy if you remember birthdays and special occasions. I feel I'm very fortunate and blessed to have so many terrific people in my life, I still don't do enough but I try to at least give thanks for them each day For your girlfriend, well Valentine's Day coming so hope you took the huge hint. I don't know if it works looking for a guy to make you feel special once you find it in yourself they tend to fall down at your feet. But you must be very special to want to try rather than getting defensive about these things. So of course try to put yourself in her place and think about what she might want and if you're not sure ask, but don't be a martyr about it either, work on making a positive feedback cycle for fun and good feelings for both of you.
  22. In what ways are you a machine?

I agree we are mechanical in ways- sometimes. And the body does run on electricity, every thought or muscle movement. all due to electricity and synaptic activity, could be mechanical and brain very complex computer. I don't think it can be deduced down to something nice and orderly, maybe someday they'll get us fixed so we'll run a little smoother and everything nice and predictable so wouldn't that be boring, but just when someone thinks they have it figured out they don't or at least some weird exceptions, goes for scientists too, all that electricity is tricksy. So will continue to soul search for my true program as there's a chance it might be drinking frou-frou coffee drinks and chatting with girl friends or dancing around the living room with my kids.
  23. Winter Blahs

I am tired of winter, being cold and being cooped up. Since I probably can't pull off staying in bed for the next month- any practices or suggestions to feel a little more energy and motivation?
  24. Winter Blahs

Thank you, did spend some time outside today and knee is almost completely better. Moving the toes is good for feet swelling too, spent much time making to get the big toe to go one way and the rest of the toes to go opposite when I was pregnant too. Had kind of forgotten about that so pleased to see my toes are still fairly coordinated.
