  2. Women & TTB

Okay I understand. It came to mind as something interesting to me that others might be interested in. Now I'm organizing my Natural Vision Improvements bookmarks and will make that a ppf topic, neither meant as a clique.
  3. Women & TTB

    1) I think men already do have retention topics in their ppfs, it's bookmarks and links to already existing discussions. 2) Agreed, not set up as a secret club with men forbidden, some info linked to started by men. 3) Both are stupid and I think it's reasonable to consider that these might be included in the definition of anti-hate speeches.
  4. Women & TTB

If an administrative decision would be made for no discussion of gender, sexual cultivation, or retention etc. would be made, then I should take it down. I am not troubled by retention threads, unless perhaps someone would comment something like "women are vampires who try to steal your life force." I don't know if discussion of cultivation techniques specific to men bothers other women or makes them feel unwelcome, but I have no problem with it.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/08/18/hedy-epstein-arrested-ferguson-holocaust-_n_5689822.html I'd like to think by the time I'm 90 people won't have to deal with this stuff anymore. Pretty ironic that a thread about how to make women feel more comfortable here devolved to get a comment about women are materialistic and that's just their nature. I would like to see more women posting here and of course we all will have different opinions too. Pretty sure I'm skewed toward anti-censorship side so perhaps my opinion would be a minimum suggestion- - using words like "phaggot" or any slur resembling this that inherently insults a group of people, has no place in a intelligent discussion or on a spiritual board. Should be a fast track to suspension and/or banning. - sweeping stereotypes like "women are peaceful", "homosexuals are artistic", or "blacks have superior athletic ability" are wrong on multiple levels. Okay, I used positive stereotypes because I abhor the negative ones, even the positive ones make me want to roll my eyes. These should be a fast track to at least suspension. Perhaps an opportunity for posters to clean up reasoning and writing skills too. Don't know what hate speech guidelines are for other boards. In my opinion, there is value in talking about topics like gender and race. I wouldn't want to see it regulated to point where we can't talk about it or pretend it doesn't exist. Again IMO, statements about "XYZ religious order historically did not allow homosexuals to join", or "I've noticed women are more likely to date me since I was promoted from fry cook to manager, so I think women I like to date are materialistic since I'm still fat with a bad personality." are perhaps allowable but worthy of the mod teams attention to watch. Then again, more work for mod team, who are volunteers, so I can understand a harsher policy too. Just on this thread, Luke helped me understand why the "we have to accept gays because that's the way they're born" argument even when put forth by well meaning people never quite sat right with me. Personally I think some discussion of most any topic can be valuable, but am moving toward the side of having more guidelines for it. Might start a women's cultivation sub in my ppf, would be mostly links since I have more academic interest than practical experience in the subject.

I thought he was suggesting paying women to participate on the forum. I am materialistic enough that I'll accept a check since I'm here anyway.
  7. Stance Competition!

I did wall sit for 1 min 32 sec. Think I can do better another day, tired legs How about planks? I think most people know that one and pretty simple. http://m.wikihow.com/Perform-the-Plank-Exercise First way on elbows I did 2 min 7 sec.

I think we all should try to work together no matter what gender, race or other demographic, but there is value in trying to understand differences and other point of view. Certainly this could be better tempered at times and some of the cheap shots eliminated. I felt uncomfortable not being in "gender solidarity" with the 2 banned and also with the perception that women are fragile and need to be sheltered, while I partly respect the intention and feel these guys do mean well. Never mind the PC stuff though, I do have another idea that pertains to the thread topic. The demographic almost totally missing on the forum is young, inexperienced females. It seems like the women who do stick around tend to either be older and/or already have some experience and security in their practice. Yet, young women do seem to have an interest in spirituality. We have lots of young guys who jump right in stay active in the forum. I think we have many knowledgeable (or think they are) practitioners with strong opinions, it comes off as authoritarian and there's a male tendency to puff up the chest and really show off how smart you are when directed to a young woman. Maybe this is the "disembodied eggheads." It's annoying on forums, when you're trying to get your car fixed, at the gym, and most unfortunately when you're trying to get an education and do your job. Trying to slog through the know-it-all and best crap on a forum is a pretty easy choice for a disposable battle to let drop. My general suggestion is to respect that women, like all demographics, are diverse group who don't all want the same thing, ask questions, consider the other person's point of view and opinion, turn off the steamroller, including those who want to rescue women with the steamroller- take a collaborative approach.
  9. Unnatural Humans

Engineering people could go very wrong. Would be terrific if we could splice away stuff that sucks like sickle cell disease and ALS. But would we splice away disorders they give meds to kids for now like ADD and ODD. Nice conforming cyber robots. No more need for religion to control people with this sort of institutional capability.
  10. I didn't say that quite right. Each cell does have it's own ions that flow in and out as Protector's article. An individual potassium or sodium ion is not passed cell to cell, the electrical impulse is what passes down chain and I will finish reading too. Hard to understand and remember.
  11. Astrological Musings

Per poll results- 8 Cardinal signs, 8 Fixed, 11 Mutable.
  12. Charged ions- mainly potassium and sodium synapsing cell to cell.
  13. Ok, I can't do this...

  14. The cult of racism

Maybe we shouldn't be equating dark with evil in a thread about racism...or ever.
  15. A timely reminder for the taobums

I've seen moths drawn to the flame. The resultant enlightenment is brief and brilliant.
  16. Nature = Good

Last night we saw a free show with a fabulous older hippie lady playing acoustic guitar and singing. As I looked around, probably half the audience had their phones out looking at the screen. Now the sun is up with last bit of pink fading from the sky and I have been sitting here reading posts. I think people might be becoming cyborgs.
  17. Recognizing Reality

I don't know if people really make choices. They just do and think things and make up reasons for it.
  18. Astrological Musings

No. It is water bearer so tricksy for people, but air element. I have Aquarius Ascendant.
  19. People who don't accept mainstream culture ?

How anti-mainstream do you want and why do you want to socialize with them? Do they have to be spiritual people- are agnostics, atheists or just not interested in religion okay? I would add some people in off grid movement, also Amish and Mennonite who are an original off grid movement (but very religious)and some denominations do socialize with outsiders. Yes, I have partied with Mennonites, not too wild, but the food was fabulous. If you want people to do things with, that talk about things other than television and professional sports, then qigong or tai chi classes, a plot at community gardens, outdoor recreation association, volunteer groups, niche book stores or clubs could be ways to meet people who are a little off beat. If you are in early 20s, most of those people will probably be older than you though. If you want to find a mate or make intimate friends to talk about and shareyour feelings and beliefs that might be harder.
  20. Moon Power

Also Ghost month starts with full moon tomorrow. So, be careful out there. Green Corn Moon to Native American tribes. Summer winding down. It all goes too fast. Sun lower when I sit on the porch and drink tea from fresh mint in the evening. A cool August compared to usual sultry languid days, but the dogs are laying around a lot anyway.

  23. Neo-Pantheism.

Yes, can be a lot of different interpretations and religious connotations with Taoist, so if I would self identify by checkbox would be pantheist. It is nice that we can both be pantheists without having to do the same things (-:
