do you remember rock and roll radio?
  2. What can feminism do for men?

oh my, poor feminism, what has it become?
  3. How does "energy" fit into your practice

lots of ways to store energy in physics. http://science.howstuffworks.com/environmental/energy/question247.htm
  4. What can feminism do for men?

It’s not the size of truck, but what’s under the hood
  5. What can feminism do for men?

This. Male entitlement is a huge problem long before someone goes on a killing spree. It turned into the pua alpha beta, what kind of man do women want? Individual women can choose to sleep with whatever kind of man she wants, I don't care about that. Does anyone really think women want to walk down the street with their keys clutched like claws? We don't- think about living with that constant undercurrent of fear. Women would prefer to say no thanks, not interested, instead of saying we have boyfriends or making up fake phone numbers. No one has to sleep with you- ever- not even if you buy dinner and opera tickets! Physical safety should be a basic human right, getting sex when you want it- or ever, is not.
  6. Keanu Reeves, Immortal

Perhaps he is. Certainly,he is very talented and his career has evolved, but something about his serious roles. I still see Ted.
  7. being a peaceful warrior?

What do you all think about arming teachers? School shootings are scary and I was sort of surprised that the kids thought it would be a good idea to have at least a few people on school staff who could shoot back. Then we talked about which of their teachers they would feel secure to have guns and not too many- would be too scared, too goofy, might go off and shoot kids themselves, might shoot the bad guy but then would be a basketcase for months. They decided the stern old lady science teacher was the one. She would shoot the bad guy, send a couple kids to get a big janitor bucket to throw the body in, and keep talking about the periodic table.
  8. Geode guy's slogan on bottom of his card said, "We want to rock your world." I hope he finds a nice unattached geology geek girl to help him get his rocks off.
  9. Got free wine, and a big geode that was sort of heavy and and a pain to carry around, but pretty cool, smoky quartz with a vein of rose quartz now under the light. Still no free hot dogs, but free tickets to dime a dog night at the minor league ball park, so I might be getting close to mastery now.
  10. What would you ask a master?

I'd ask if he knows how to dance.
  11. Mastering the emotions

I don't know. It's all good. Not up to me and I really mean that, except that I don't know what you're talking about, so yeah, unless it isn't.
  12. Short Skirts and Bikinis

My friend has a teenage son who is competitive swimmer. He was in the bathroom shaving his legs and she asked through the door if he needed help. He yelled back, "Leave me alone, Mom, I'm a man now and I can shave my own damn legs!"
  13. I think I can, I think I can do this one. Anyone care to join me? Just remember each day do your best and believe in yourself!
  14. restoring eye sight

I posted some links here http://thetaobums.com/topic/34320-countermeasures-after-eye-surgery/page-2 a while ago. Good luck, have improved mine a little. Actually, cottage cheese and flax seed oil might be helping some too, there's a thread on that in this forum too.
  15. being a peaceful warrior?

If it is a Castle Doctrine state, then you can shoot the robber for breaking in, otherwise might need to prove self defense.
  16. 30 Day Challenge for Slackers

Sometimes I tell people I'm checking my eyelids for holes.
  17. More than the soda, but not as much as the chocolate. Frittata last night, probably burritos today, with lots of green onions (-:
  18. Shouldn't someone just happen to be giving out free hot dogs when the Taoist master wants one? Although far from mastery, even I got free 2 liter bottles of soda, a big bag of green onions and a cup of peanut m&ms in the last couple days.
  19. The Discourse was result of actual interview while the Interview thread contains background and bio of the Master interviewed, as well as questions members requested. It was an oral interview that Dao Zhen wrote as a discourse as was manner in which delivered, rather than editing into Q&a form. So Discourse is the interview, and thread titled Interview does not contain the interview. Completed interviews is where I thought it should go and I can move it later when on PC and not my phone, along with better synopsis for a clearer explanation. Link to Discourse in the Interview thread also broken and I'll fix that too.
  20. Did you know this existed? http://thetaobums.com/topic/4967-discourse-on-taoist-internal-alchemy/?hl=discourse Not traditional Q and A format like the others, but seems too terrific to be buried in Articles section. Perhaps add to interviews. Here is background thread on it http://thetaobums.com/topic/4842-taoist-master-interview-questions/page-2
  21. Martial Arts Section?

How about instead of specific to Martial Arts but still including most aspects: Physical Culture subforum- could also be conditioning, stretching, strengthening, yoga poses, Feldenkrais etc..........? Or Body, Mind, Spirit subforums?
  22. Mastering the emotions

But, adult tantrums are so amusing, it's unkind to laugh at angry people though, as it is to get angry back. Being so detached it doesn't even register, also seems unkind. I think the middle ground is to listen to the person and reflect some concern for his or her perception of the problem, usually a little empathy is most helpful in helping the angry person calm down. I think we have a perception that anger is a terrible scary thing- both others and our own. I'd actually rather have family and close friends go ahead and get angry with me than repress it and smile or be detached and not react. If there's some resentment over something I want to understand things right and have the opportunity to address it. The amygdala is the deep brain structure largely involved in modulating responses to fear, pain and anger. Clinically, it's been shown that long term mindfulness meditation practitioners have decreased activation in this area. Right insula has been shown to be thicker and more complex in meditators and this part is believed to be important in regulating emotional states, compassion and feelings of being connected to god or the universe. So neurologically, releasing negative emotions and increased positive feelings and bliss seems reasonable.
