  1. new verses of the DDJ

From my perspective, you've touched on the parting of the way between Daoism and Buddhism, or better said, China and India. Chinese thought was always much more evidence-based, pragmatic and society-oriented, and so it is in the Laozi. Nobody was questioning reality or truth. There were no illusions. Re the butterfly dream, consider this: Zhuangzi was the original troll. He'd probably last about three days at TTB before getting banned.
  2. et tu??? That's some impressive fooling right there, yep.
  3. Random thought about Dao that can not be spoken

Or perhaps an unstarted painting, Mr. Head. Or is it Mr. Marble?
  4. Random thought about Dao that can not be spoken

    no where every where
  5. To be honest, I was slightly disappointed when I read the punchline
  6. Random thought about Dao that can not be spoken

I started the thread. And I think it started out pretty good, so there :-) One note: I don't agree 100 percent with the 'map' idea. I don't disagree with it 100 percent, either, but... I see it more like a painting. A painting without a frame. A mixed-medium painting, painting itself, on a 4-dimensional canvas.
  7. Random thought about Dao that can not be spoken

And yet, here you all are, giving in to the urge to post 'something' in a thread that ostensibly should be about no thing :-)
  8. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr....
  9. Random thought about Dao that can not be spoken

    haha, I can dig that!
  10. Random thought about Dao that can not be spoken

Well, I think there's no 'danger' in using an expansive illustration, especially when the image and thought had occurred about an hour previously :-) I'll re-phrase it starting with my bare feet surrounded by living room resting on the coffee table... Still got that shifting image caused by the motion of the sun coming through the window. Actually, my point wasn't so much the illustration as the first thing I wrote, the ipso facto clause.
  11. The science of acupuncture

http://yinyangpodcast.blogspot.de/2014/03/the-science-behind-acupuncture.html?m=1 This is pretty interesting. Not sure if it belongs in the general discussion...
  12. The science of acupuncture

I got the link from 'Karen Vaughan' at facebook. Anyone who is looking for good TCM and other alternative health information would do well to look her up and 'friend' her. She's very nice, and extremely knowledgeable and socially active. When I get back to NY next time, I'm going to look her up. https://www.facebook.com/Acupuncture.herbs.Karen.Vaughan?fref=ts
  13. Some I Ching resources on-line

haha, it's the postage from where you are to where I am that is so exorbitant. Shipping from here to there is still pretty reasonable
  14. Some I Ching resources on-line

RJ Lynn and this, which I've linked to a number of times in these forums: My favorite I hope someone else will get it and comment on it someday. I inspired to buy it after reading the Fang Shui book from the same authors (that book is also top-notch). For system, I began using a Pendulum to build the hexagrams a while ago and have a better feeling with the results.
  15. Random thought about Dao that can not be spoken

"Wovon man nicht sprechen kann, darüber muß man schweigen" I knew the quote but not the author. Thanks, Capt :-) There's a 'must' in there. He saying something more akin to, "if you can't speak intelligently about a subject, please resist the temptation to speak at all, tyvm ".
  16. Some I Ching resources on-line

We have very robust milfoil here. I'd be happy to send 51 stalks to anyone who asks :-)
  17. Some I Ching resources on-line

good list, apech, thank you. In case you're ever interested in strolling along the dusty annals of internet weirdness of yore, this link may be of interest: http://www.superiching.com/ One of the best!
  18. How to help cure the flu?

    Sweat, baby, sweat ...
  19. what would you say?

nice Coming from the 'West' and from Earth in the 21st Gregorian century, I might at this moment say something to convey the spirit of 'Do as I say, not as I do'.
  20. what would you say?

What would yours be, Mr Thunder? :-)
  21. Some tattoo suggestions :D

There are a lot of 'Chinese Tattoo Fail' webpages out there...
  22. singing bowl

Ahhh... Ok, I misunderstood you - I had forgotten that you mentioned your own bowls on the first page of the thread. I do like the idea.

    which dot came first?
  24. Intellectualism is for wimps

I guess it's easy to make that conclusion about us, but it isn't 100% true. Scrawny, early homo erectus were physically capable of a few things their competitors couldn't keep up with. Foremost, the upright stance combined with the ability to sweat, allowed them to hunt in the heat when the other predators were forced to wait for evening. And the prey animals had the same dilemma, they couldn't keep ahead of those weird, hungry two-footed bald monkeys. Our eyes are also something special. We have extremely effective color- and depth perception that on the one hand makes it difficult for prey to hide from us, while at the same time making it difficult for predators to hide from us. Mr. Wild Boar might not see you lurking there in the brush, Mr. Tiger, but I see you!
  25. Haiku Chain

They work quite well, too, they who work at not working, leave, nothing undone.
