haha - she had in covered up with various dolls and fluffy animals. I don't actually remember her reasoning at the time, but it made sense somehow. What I didn't write earlier was that I did visualize it. I saw it very clearly on a shelf with a bunch of other returned items at a lost and found area at a police station. I was certain I'd left it on a bench at a train station (wo ist der Bahnhof?) and that it had been turned in - but no, it wasn't there.

no, you most certainly do not 'put it all into practice'. You in fact haven't written two words to indicate in any way that you've actually understood, even on a superficial, academic level, a single thing that you've read or heard, in any discipline. To make the claim that you are "putting it all into practice" is a blatant insult to people who have actually dedicated their lives to practicing Daoist arts (I certainly don't include myself in that category). some people recognize the fact that you are all over the hell and creation with your ceaseless questions and demands for simple, nutshell answers which will make it all clear and convenient for you. And those people recognize the futility of giving you more direct information. And to claim that people's 'metaphors' make no sense to themselves is again a tremendous insult. You may not be equipped with the cognitive skills necessary to discern meaning from metaphor, but that problem lies squarely with you.

Derail: saw a short tv report on a pot bus in Colorado. Yeah, a guy with a bus that you can smoke pot in. He drives around, and you can get high in the back of his bus. He charges 65 dollars an hour, dope and utensils not included. And it seems he's quite successful! Wtf? Is that an example of what you were describing there, MH?

I had a wallet incident, too. Long story short, a week after it disappeared and all the cards cancelled etc, it turned up - in the bottom of my daughter's doll carriage!

Ah, maaaaan, now you went and spoilt it for me.... Sidenote: currants in German are called Johannisbeere i. e. St. John's berries :-) Sinjin got around a lot it seems. (it really just has to do with the date, same as St John's Wort) -

one last point - the only thing about Krim that has interested me in the last 30 years is the bubbly, and that means I probably have a better understanding of the region than most of the armchair quarterbacks, while at the same time knowing virtually nothing. Nastrovje! -

exactly. And that excludes the bulk of the western diplomats, as well. -

I'll check out it out later but would like to mention that my mother worked to retirement age for pharmaceutical companies (started out as one local company, which got bought by a bigger firm which in turn got swallowed up by the multinational pharmaceutical Borg aka Pfizer) and most of her time was in 'Regulatory Affairs'. She sat in essence in between the researchers and the FDA. She compiled research into a form acceptable to the FDA and also prepared the responses from the FDA to the researchers. So she saw everything. She's a fount of insider information regarding the pharmaceutical industry but, specifically relating to this thread, she can confirm that the placebo effect is a much, much bigger hurdle to get over for the industry than they'll ever admit publicly. And, more importantly, they has been solid research done to find the roots of this 'problem'. It's highly probable that they could pretty easily help people heal themselves of many many chronic conditions with only the power of the mind; they have entire libraries of studies devoted to the subject - BUT YOU CAN'T PATENT THOUGHTS. You also can't patent naturally-occurring lifeforms i.e. plants. And that's the problem. The 'Big Pharm' executives aren't concerned with developing effective medications; they're simply playing the patent game. It's not much different than speculative investments, or gambling. Their prerogatives lie in developing substances that are unique enough to be patented, and after that is fulfilled, they'll look for or invent a condition that the substance can be used to counteract.

Thoughts on Ukraine / Russia Debacle?!
soaring crane replied to DalTheJigsaw123's topic in The Rabbit Hole
that's it? That's the only reason? I thought it went back a little further than that and that the story was a little more complex than the 'formation of the USSR'. I know that much, without having studied the subject. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russia%E2%80%93Ukraine_relations#History_of_relations -
From water to wood to fire to earth to metal to water ... maybe we're in (on?) fire right now, but you can't stop the changes

Dao is pretty impartial in these matters. Coldly impartial, in fact.

Thoughts on Ukraine / Russia Debacle?!

One thing I refuse to do is believe a single word about it in the English- (or German-) language press. And I don't read Russian, so it's kind of a washout on my part in that respect. I have however talked about it with Russian guys where I work a few times, and they insist that most of the people in the entire Ukraine identify with Russia more than with "western Europe", and they suspect Klitschko of handing out good sums of cash to buy support for his movement. He is of course a huge fan of the "west". I don't know any Ukrainians directly, though, so again, I can't really form a solid opinion on the matter. The thing is, most of the people flapping their gums about it in the west don't have any more solid understanding of the situation than I do, yet they feel somehow entitled to pontificate and point fingers, and analyze and suggest courses of action. They're just disgraceful, imo. -
