I didn't see this when you posted it. I'll PM you. Short version: there's not much in my life that I want changed. I'd like a studio of my own, but that's material, and it'll materialize when the time is right- 66 replies

What should one do/think of while walking?

Two adepts meet and discuss their masters. The one says, "My master can fly with the birds and walk through walls. What about yours?" The second hesitates a bit but then replies, "well, my master doesn't do any of that stuff. All i can say is that when he's hungry, he eats; when he's tired, he sleeps" The first adept laughs out loud at this and hurries back to tell his master of this 'poser' pretending to be a great master who apparently can't do anything amazing at all. "When he's hungry, he eats, and when he's tired, he sleeps! And that's it! Can you believe that, master?" The boastful adept's master then asks where he can find this other master. "So you can put him in his place, yes! He's behind the mountain ..." On arriving behind the mountain, the master of the boastful adept falls to his knees in front of the humble master and cries out, "Teach me, please, oh great one!" Time for a little walk -
A random thought about spirituality from a shaman

One of Robber Chih's followers once asked Chih, "Does the thief too have a Way?" Chih replied, "How could he get anywhere if he didn't have a Way? Making shrewd guesses as to how much booty is stashed away in the room is sageliness; being the first one in is bravery; being the last one out is righteousness; knowing whether the job can be pulled off or not is wisdom; dividing up the loot fairly is benevolence. No one in the world ever succeeded in becoming a great thief if he didn't have all five!" http://terebess.hu/english/chuangtzu1.html Be yourself, yes. -

Oh... I believe you. But the whole approach just turns me off. Maybe it's a conflict with my inner-American, I don't know. But when something looks and feels like an infomercial, I switch the dial immediately. The bigger the claims and the more impressive the youtube videos, the more I want to distance myself. Regarding his abilities, I'd have to spend quite a while making the list of healers from different areas of the world I've met over the years who essentially achieve the same thing, but with different approaches. Two spring to mind immediately - a mute Peruvian native and little Philippino woman, neither of whom anyone here has ever heard of, or ever will. And yet, they do this kind of work day in and day out.- 66 replies

I don't doubt the man's abilities, but heavy marketers who charge exploitative prices for their services just turn me off. For me, the motive counts as much as the method.- 66 replies

This is nothing but an advertisment. In Germany, it would say 'Anzeige' in the top, right corner. And I wouldn't let Clyman's hands get anywhere near me.- 66 replies

What do you know about them? I really know very little but I have an anecdote: They "ruined" a nice Qigong class for me. It was going to be in a beautiful church annex, all arranged, lot's of good people interested, and then the pastor read something about Falun in some church publication, and canceled the class. There was no way to get him to understand that Qigong does not equal Falun Qong. After that, I was more or less happy that the class didn't get off to a start. I don't want to be associated that church (which was mainstream Protestant - I do hold classes in Catholic churches, no problem). Other than that, I've seen them in various cities in Germany holding 'Sit-ins'. The exercises are interesting, very Buddhist of course, which is fine, but I'm not sure about the influence Li Hongzhi holds over them.

What should one do/think of while walking?
soaring crane replied to TheExaltedRonin's topic in Daoist Discussion
Be actively conscious of your body; passively aware of everything else. Your body is the only thing in the entire universe that exists here and now. That's it. Long explanations and discussions will only lead you away from the simplicity of it all. -
