  1. Interesting picture - your feelings.

my first reaction was to remember my first walk through the Jewish memorial in Berlin.
  2. Living proof that qigong works!

I've seen reference to your story/history in other threads but finally put the pieces together - wow, great stuff. Congratulations!!!
  3. WHAT IS JING?

I was wondering about the adrenal 'structures'. Given their proximity to the kidneys (they're attached), do they develop concurrently? Or perhaps even appear first? Their name means 'near the kidneys' and some of their functions can be compared to kidney function in TCM. They're responsible for electrolyte balance in the body, for example, and that is the most basic function of all, it's part of the 'constitution', a very Jing function. And they have that sexual function as well ... Were those glands actually recognized specifically in the development of the Chinese systems? The other glands specifically?
  4. WHAT IS JING?

doesn't seem to. The connection kidneys/aural perception is interesting. Kidneys revealing themselves in the ears is standard, but hearing is also the first active sense, in the womb. We hear plenty of the world 'out there' looooong before we see it. So, it fits, to my thinking, that the kidney circuit would be the earliest to develop.
  5. WHAT IS JING?

 Absolutely, and it makes my day when a vintage Taomeow post appears - thank you again! One functional (I know it's not really correct) way I interpret it for myself: Jing is my ability to stand my ground, Qi is my ability to move and Shen is my ability to discern when to do one or the other. Or better said, it controls the mix The mountain, the river that flows down it, and the sky above all, with the view over all below it. Regarding fighting sickness - how I fight an oncoming cold: Hot showers, sauna and really hot chili in my tea ie sweating it out.
  6. Living off grid

Oh, that comic is great! Haha :-D I've had the off the grid page on my FB feed for a while, always good stuff... Maybe some day...
  7. The invisible man

I think this is beautiful: The Invisible Man Lives! I don't know what it is but something about this man's art really attracts me. I like it best when he's in natural surroundings... Don't know how I'd feel about stumbling across him while out for a stroll through the woods, though!
  8. The invisible man

that one with the front loader, I had to zoom in to find him...
  9. The invisible man

Ok, I used a real computer to completely update the original post
  10. The invisible man

Haha! Ok, no more starting threads from my phone :-P
  11. Black Friday Sale!

Ok, I really didn't want to like that because I understand the German and it's got nothing to do with shopping, but still.... LMAO! :-)
  12. Black Friday Sale!

... more than 'sort of' imo
  13. Black Friday Sale!

And I live in Germany, viewing the craziness from afar ... and a feeling little thankful, too My family lives in NY, not far from Woodbury Commons, an outlet center that goes BERSERK! You know how in the Woodstock movie, you hear a hippie saying, 'The NY State Thruway is closed, man!'? Well, that's Black Friday every year. The Thruway becomes a parking lot. There have been shootings and they're are always injuries and police action... starting at midnight after Thanksgiving. jawohl.
  14. Black Friday Sale!

Can I wait until Cyber Monday? PS - my current facebook status: Happy Thanksgiving. Please celebrate by boycotting Black Friday. Thanks. The damage to your dignity vs 20% off that ipad really isn't a fair trade.
  15. “I've begun worshipping the sun for a number of reasons. First of all, unlike some other gods I could mention, I can see the sun. It's there for me every day. And the things it brings me are quite apparent all the time: heat, light, food, and a lovely day. There's no mystery, no one asks for money, I don't have to dress up, and there's no boring pageantry. And interestingly enough, I have found that the prayers I offer to the sun and the prayers I formerly offered to "God" are all answered at about the same 50% rate.” -- George Carlin :-)
  16. I don't know about 'worldwide' but I know that last time I visited the USA, the anxiety and depression were palpable; it sat on the surface just behind everyone's eyes. It seemed like a collective unhinging and I guess something of that scale would have to have consequences, worldwide. I wonder what role the internet plays in this (along with the 24-hour "news" cycle). It's been a drastic, rapid shift in our lives and maybe too much too fast. But like others on this thread, I don't hold any truck with prophecies or prophets.
  17. Haiku Chain

Ah, the fragrant air caresses your skin so fair. Sunlight bathes your hair.

  21. mystical poetry thread

I think a good poem contains more insight and knowledge, and beauty and mystery, than any novel. The difficulty some people perceive with poetry is in thinking 'prose' while reading. Think of each line of a poem as a chapter in a book, and spend more time with each line than you would with a comparably long sentence in a book, and after a while, the meaning will open to you. But the best poetry is ambiguous, having multiple - microcosmic and macrocosmic - layers. So maybe you're just too linear for it? Instead of calling it crap poetry, I would talk about my crap comprehension skills (I'm referring to myself in the cases where I can't make heads or tails of a particular poem)
  22. mystical poetry thread

mmmMMMmmm... Neruda=Sublime PS - I like the idea of turning this into a thread simply reserved for quality poetry
  23. mystical poetry thread

And a beautiful, uplifting and even a little mystical poem, to bring a little Spring magic into this dreary Autumn day: i thank you God for most this amazing day: for the leaping greenly spirits of trees and a blue true dream of sky;and for everything which is natural which is infinite which is yes! (i who have died am alive again today, and this is the sun's birthday; this is the birth day of life and of love and wings;and of the gay great happening illimitably earth) how should tasting touching hearing seeing breathing any---lifted from the no of all nothing---human merely being doubt unimaginable You? (now the ears of my ears awake and now the eyes of my eyes are opened) ~~~e. e. cummings~~~
