haha! - you mean the white dude? That's a pretty old video, I think he's gotten his ghosts sorted out since then. Still got the *Theramin, though (*Theramin is not a psychoactive drug, much as it may sound that way)

Peter Schwarz from Austria. I've attended seminars with him before - Shaolin White Crane and Chansijing - I don't know his Bagua history but I trust him to be quite authentic and traditional. Thanks for the feedback on the youtube vid. It seemed like a decent, very basic introduction to walking. I like the guy's pedagogic style.

The decline and eventual fall of the USA as world superpower?
soaring crane replied to Formless Tao's topic in The Rabbit Hole
The US Government has been actively engaged in a kind of weird, transparent, Kindergarten-level, smear campaign against Germany for a few weeks now (why? take a guess). The latest attempt is a report claiming that German productivity as reflected in it's export surplus is at the heart of all that is wrong in the Euro zone today. It's absurd. German productivity is boosting the entire EU as German manufacturers expand their supply chains and outsource production to neighboring countries. Everyone in the Euro Zone is benefiting from German production, and quite a few non-Euro countries as well. And the US is looking more and more childish and ridiculous. The comments sections for articles at e.g. Der Spiegel Online are consistently derisive of news from the US. That was not the case only a couple years ago. There was a public opinion survey this week asking if the US is a trustworthy trading partner - more than 2/3s answered NEIN. People are fed up with the US and are actively turning away from it. So, yes, I'm seeing evidence of the "Decline and eventual fall of the US as a world superpower". In fact, there's evidence all around the globe. The US government (The Corporatocracy JoeB described above) is turning the country into a global pariah. -
Nice summary! This simple statement reflects my thoughts on the subject as well. I really don't have a problem with 'trolls' in general, but the TTB trolls do tend to be rather loquacious...

"Her son likes duck." Duck! She flipped the bird at his head. An aquatic foul.

Hey, what do you all think of this video for a beginner: I'll be taking part in my first seminar on Nov 23-24, looking SO forward to it PS - I posted this vido to Facebook and a friend of mine said it reminded him of the movie Midnight Run!

I can accept that, thank you. It's much better than other (much, much longer) texts I've read attempting to deny any form of acknowledgment of 'western' understanding of the body and origins of life. But, (at risk of derailing your interesting discussion) I view DNA as a form of intelligence in itself, much greater than the sum total of it's nucleotides. It's a physical manifestation of an already-present energetic power. And we do get half from Mom, half from Dad, after all The model fits too smoothly into the Daoist model to be coincidence. Ditto the glandular/hormonal systems (note that the adrenal glands are called the 'second kidneys' - Nebennieren - in German). What would the Daoist researchers of old have done with an electron microscope, I wonder? (given that they had the electricity to run the thing of course).

No, no, I meant a thread started by someone else that I had committed in at one time. Thanks for the info :-) -

Hi Spotless - I appreciate what you're saying here, and admire your participation in the forums. But reverse, embryonic breathing is a technique that guides the mind deep inward and it's effective increases as the focus narrows ever finer to a point inside the abdomen, where the spiritual embryo forms. Coincidentally concentrating on the 'aura', the outer layers of the energetic body, can contradict what the practitioner is trying to achieve. During practice, one may well find oneself grabbing the outermost, finest bodies and drawing them inward, and conversely expanding the subatomic self in the middle to the outer edges of the cosmos, but it's not enough to simply get in the habit of noticing your surroundings.

Thanks, but I have to admit it seems kind of like taking a sledge hammer to 22 straw men to me.

Umbilical meditation is the place to really begin, imo. All that mechanics stuff puts roadblocks up where the path should be gentlest. Also, I'm really interested in that 60-70 number. How the op counts and at what tempo he pulses.

I see nothing contradictory about the ignore function. Of course it comes down to the individual as in all things. One person's cowardly avoidance of real life is the other person's path to serenity. Personally, I just don't like the distraction of predictable pedantry. Also, I would caution those who speak from 'compassion' that there's a very fine line between compassion and condescension. Not casting any judgments at all (and I hope this doesn't come off as condescending, haha!), I'm just pointing out that it's something to be aware of and to check once in a while. In real life.
