Please watch and listen... The definition of this thread, I think: http://www.youtube.c...h?v=0ltAGuuru7Q

I think a lot about it, lol. We do house clearings with singiing bowls, tempel cymbals, bells and Gongs. Works great But I don't know if it's the most sensible technique for Hagar's situation. Honestly, Hagar, you really have very little to worry about, if anything at all. It's your fear that'll cause the problems. Craig motivated me to say that straight up

I like that wonderful av, btw...

Huh, that's funny to me because, I never noticed it before. The only thing here that gets tiring to me is ppl not clipping quoted material. But that's a pretty petty complaint...

I remembered something from the time I was doing a lot of "Klangtherapie" (Singining Bowl Therapy) - Sugilith, a very good, and powerful stone for attracting and "containing" unwanted, foreign frequencies. It works very quickly, if you wear one with energy work, you have t oclean it every day. It's also very beautiful, and not cheap: I wouldn't put it on necklace. Better to have it on a bracelet, anklet, or in your pocket.

Is ch. 38 one of the three that are all one long string in the Mawangdui texts? Hmmm... Now that I write it, I don't think it is, but no time to check... Ciao

I thought this would appear in the Tech Support Forum! No time to mull over the quesitons, but I've been told by a number of independent sources that the Tianmu/Third Eye/Pineal Gland of the Earth is right here in Oberfranken, connected with the Fichtelgebirge in some way... That's why the Bier is so good here

Unless of course it's a Jersey Cotton fabric But I like the idea - it wouldn't draw the kind of attention burning Olibanum (or Nag Champa, lol) would.

A very strong, literal, translation of the Tao Te Ching
soaring crane replied to secularfuture's topic in General Discussion
Oh! Ok, well, I guess I did miss something, lol. Still, I've read that kind of character for character breakdown and never really found it useful, me not being a translator and stuff. You think you jest, MB, but you're closer to the truth than you know! All those adornments occur in the written Italian, too. I was involved in a project putting together a 600+ page product catalog in 8 languages. The Italian text needed consistently 1/3 to 2 times as much space as all the other languages. Caused a lot of havoc with the layout... They use whole phrases to poetically describe things that get compacted into one or two words in English. -

Well, I personally wouldn't worry about it. I have no problem mixing it up with strangers, I get my unwanted attachements from people who are closer to me. But, you could try cleaning the chair before you use it, and yourself afterwards. I mean energetically. You must have a couple spiritual helpers you could ask, no?

A very strong, literal, translation of the Tao Te Ching
soaring crane replied to secularfuture's topic in General Discussion
Am I missing something? This isn't a "literal translation" at all: A path fit for travel Is not an unvarying path A name fit for calling Is not a generic name "Generic"? That's a literary stretch. So is "fit for travel" and "fit for calling". A "literal translation" would start "Dao not Dao" "Name not Named", etc.. They lay out the Chinese pictograms piece for piece, and the result is incomprehensible jibberish. This is a translation, afaik, one of about 150 in english. To understand "the book", you have to understand the culture it was created in and speaking to. The DDJ wasn't "authored", it was manifested by the Zeitgeist, the Qi, of a very specific context. And for accessing that, most of us have to rely on scholars doing honest research. So do the modern Chinese, as secular said. Competent, honest and objective bilingual experts on the Warring States period aren't falling out of the trees, lol. Learning Mandarin might help, but I don't think it would make much of a difference, not in this case. ~~~~~~~~~~ OT Tangent time... My favorite DDJ to read is a German work by Günther Debon. His goal was to create a work that closely resembles the DDJ in tone and message. He worked straight from the original Mawngdui texts with the Wangbi commentaries. The German language is flexible in ways that English is not, so he could turn phrases around to mimic the rhythmic structure of the original, plus rhyme where the original rhymes. The result is poetic and beautiful. Plus dense and archaic enough to really force me to think about what I'm reading. I would have to turn to Shakespeare to find an English equivalent. -
hahaha@bananatarian Actually, I know someone (through Facebook) who crewed for him recently at an ultramarathon, she wrote that he showed up with nothing but a crate of oranges and a juicer. His juicer broke and she helped him squeeze all his oranges by hand (no Robert Johnson jokes, please). He ran so fast past the aid station that she had to sprint to chase him down to get him his OJ. So, not just bananas, apparently. I doubt seriously that'll he be doing this much longer. I could never eat such a one-sided diet, just from the psychological side of it. But after reading the blog article, I did look more into the raw foods community and, well, I'm intrigued now. But I've been doing my best to stay to a low-carb and alkaline-based diet for a while now and even that's proving too much for me to maintain. Especially at Easter

Just got this from my wife per email and, since I haven't already seen this exact list 546 times over the past 7 years, I thought maybe some of you hadn't, either. I havta admit, I really saw a lot of myself in this... not that I'm proud of it or whatever ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1. I think part of a best friend's job should be to immediately clear your computer history if you die. 2. Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong (how many TaoBum moments does that apply to?). 3. I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger. 4. There is great need for a sarcasm font. 5. How the hell are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet? 6. Was learning cursive really necessary? 7. Map Quest really needs to start their directions on #5. I'm pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood. 8. Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the Person died. 9. I can't remember the last time I wasn't at least kind of tired. 10. Bad decisions make good stories. 11. You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you know that you just aren't going to do anything productive for the rest of the day. 12. Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after Blue Ray? I don't want to have to restart my collection...again. 13. I'm always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten-page research paper that I swear I did not make any changes to. 14. "Do not machine wash or tumble dry" means I will never wash this - ever. 15. I hate when I just miss a call by the last ring (Hello? Hello? Damn it!), but when I immediately call back, it rings nine times and goes to voice mail. What did you do after I didn't answer? Drop the phone and run away? 16. I hate leaving my house confident and looking good and then not seeing anyone of importance the entire day. What a waste (kind of Jack Handy-ish). 17. I keep some people's phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call. 18. I think the freezer deserves a light as well. 19. I disagree with Kay Jewelers. I would bet on any given Friday or Saturday night more kisses begin with Miller Lite than Kay. 21. Sometimes, I'll watch a movie that I watched when I was younger and suddenly realize I had no idea what the heck was going on when I first saw it (Seen the original Willy Wonka movie lately?). 22. I would rather try to carry 10 plastic grocery bags in each hand than take 2 trips to bring my groceries in. 23. The only time I look forward to a red light is when I'm trying to finish a text. 24. I have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and hunger. 25. How many times is it appropriate to say "What?" before you just nod and smile because you still didn't hear or understand a word they said? 26. I love the sense of camaraderie when an entire line of cars team up to prevent a dick from cutting in at the front. Stay strong, brothers and sisters! 27. Shirts get dirty. Underwear gets dirty. Pants? Pants never get dirty, and you can wear them forever (I know why this is especially funny for Brits). 28. Is it just me or do high school kids get dumber & dumber every year? 29. There's no worse feeling than that millisecond you're sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far. 30. As a driver I hate pedestrians, and as a pedestrian I hate drivers, but no matter what the mode of transportation, I always hate cyclists. 31. Sometimes I'll look down at my watch 3 consecutive times and still not know what time it is. 32. Even under ideal conditions people have trouble locating their car keys in a pocket, finding their cell phone, and Pinning the Tail on the Donkey - but I'd bet my ass everyone can find and push the snooze button from 3 feet away, in about 1.7 seconds, eyes closed, first time, every time!

lol - Ok, Joe, I'll be sure to keep all that in mind next time I hug a tree

The Perfect Morning Ritual for Optimal Awesomeness.
soaring crane replied to OneConsciousness's topic in General Discussion
Good Morning It's very invigorating, and a standard feature of any Qigong self-massage. There are a 1000 variations on the theme. All of the background would take a few pages to explain, but give it a try. This is my routine, inspired in large part by Baolin Wu's book Here First, just some general rubbing, any old way, just till the ears are warm Then, "Flicking", hard, so that it really stings. I use my ring, middle and index fingers progressively to flick the top, middle and bottom Then, "Fanning" from back to front Next, pinching, pulling, "kneading" and stretching all along the edges, including the lobes Finally, "popping" - I've learned a few ways to do this but what I end up doing is using the balls of my thumbs, the fire Lung points, to push the little flap of cartilage (don't know what it's called, but it makes a good stopper), firmly into the openings, sealing off my ears and creating pressure inside. At that moment, "listen" inwardly, eyes closed. After a few seconds, pull the hands quickly away, feel the "pop", open the eyes and listen outwardly. Nine repetitions would be traditional. And then... sit up and "Beat the Heavenly Drum" nine times. No need for coffee anymore :-) The ears are intimately connected to the Kidneys and that means a lot... For example, the element water attracts money! I also rub the eyes a specific way and a few other things as well, but the ears are the most important thing (to me). -

The first thing I do before getting out of bed or anything else, is rub my ears vigorously. After that, it varies. -

lol@bumping I still find it helpful and more practical to view Qi as a substance or fine material, regardless of all the other and perhaps more accurate "definitions" offered by people with a deeper understanding about it than me I can go a lot further in my own cultivation with the breathe of the universe than I can with some intellectual reductions of same
