  1. Hello everyone!

Hello Benjamin, and welcome to the forums! Glad you found your way to us. I dig Dudeism, too. Just, like, abide, man :-) Please take the time to read the two posts pinned at the top of this Welcome page and take a look at the forum terms and rules. This covers all you need to know when getting started. For the first week you will be restricted to ten posts per day but after that you can post as much as you like. Also, until you’ve posted fifteen times in the forums, you’ll be a “Junior Bum” with somewhat restricted access and will be allowed only two private messages per day. Good luck in your pursuits and best wishes to you, SC and the TDB team

  4. Sightseeing in Italy?

You didn't mention how long you're going to be staying. Time is of the essence... But as the others have said, you can't go wrong in either place. I especially like the suggestion of roaming around, soaking up atmosphere. Enjoy! Oh, also, when are going?
  5. Conducting poll

Forum polls can be fun, but they're rarely informative. And keep in mind that the results don't provide any statistics representative of the membership of the website, or even of the active members (who make up a very small percentage of the total number of members). A poll only shows you what the people who responded to that poll think. Poll threads invariably become discussion threads, btw. But maybe you have a few really good ideas for insightful polls. I'd be very interested in that!
  6. it's on its way there, now There was no agreement between them.
  7. The "ethics" issue is a load of hokum and it's the kind of emotional argument unethical and insincere people toss out.
  8. I have a nice scar on my forehead as the result of a billiard cue being broken on it in a bar fight in 1983, at a rough place in Germany when I was stationed here with the army. It was very effective, stopped me in my tracks and caused the owner to set two very large dogs loose and call the MPs. I have another scar on my back where I got stabbed with a broken beer bottle on a different occasion. A friend had to point out to me that there was blood pooling on my shirt or wouldn't have noticed. So, pool stick effective, beer bottle less so. That's my only real world experience with fights involving weapons. I've been training in Pektiti Tirsia Kali for a few months now and those sticks are most definitely effective and would be formidable to come up against if the person wielding them didn't have your best interests in mind.
  9. Gimme some of what this guy's got

I love this: 100 years old. 5 world records And if you read the text, you'll find the secret of his longevity is his attitude. He apparently lives on fried macaroni and cheese
  10. Gimme some of what this guy's got

Regarding the Mac and Cheese, I was only testing to see if anyone would actually read the article :-)

  14. Get The Most Out Of Your MCO

really high-caliber stuff in here. Big thanks to SotG for sharing the insights :-)
  15. John Chang

An excellent statement that really says all that needs be said, but I would add that the MP Crew would be warmly welcome to discuss their system and beliefs here if it weren't for their insistence that everybody who doesn't walk that road to nowhere is an idiot, a dupe and a consumer of placebo-gong. I've yet to read a single word from any one of them to convince me that their system produces anything other than a juvenile, anti-social, paranoid, megalomaniacal and bigoted mindset. But I'm open to having the scales removed from my eyes.

oh boy... I understand your POV, but I think you got the protaganists with the antagonists reversed. There's a loooong history of moderators bending over backwards here to accomodate the MP crew.
  22. John Chang

well, there are some among us who consider that a benefit.
  23. Why some countries are poor, and some rich

    But internet forums are OK?
  24. Why some countries are poor, and some rich

I agree, although I do see it as a highly simplified presentation.
  25. Hello to the Dao Bums

Hello JDN, and welcome to the forums! Glad you found your way to us. I'm also fascinated by really ancient wisdom, partly because there's so little hard information on what our forebears actually thought.
