  1. When Positive is Negative

On a personal level, I think she generalizes a little too much and is too insistent and self-assured, revealing, to me, an element of insecurity behind all her wise-sounding words. Her eyes are reading text. But I agree with the basic message, and enjoyed the representative images she chose. False and forced emotions and perspectives are always destructive, but I think a person who is genuinely content will be 'positive' by default. edit: I think what she's saying is something I just basically assume, and so it seems like a lot of repetition of something very simple and self-evident. But I guess there are a lot of people out there who don't understand it (I'm thinking of my spiritually-inclined friends)

  7. I know a good ten or so people who have had their amalgams replaced, including my wife, it's a very popular thing to have done here. I've seen no evidence to date that any one of them is more healthy now than before. I have a mouthful of amalgam and would objectively say that I have fewer health issues than the rest of them combined. That said, if you do decide to have it done, you absolutely must have a dentist who does it correctly, to avoid even the tiniest particle of a filling going down your throat. It's not so simple and they need the proper equipment. It's a kind of dam that blocks your throat, as I understand it. It's a very uncomfortable process, and not cheap. Edit: It's called a "Kofferdam" in German, pics at the link. Hannibal Lechter says hi :-)
  8. Happy Thanksgiving y'all

Happy I'm thankful for all that I've got and so don't need to go shopping today or tomorrow Day! :-)
  9. Origin and return

返還功 Fan Huan Gong :-) http://www.fanhuangong.com Quick, random thoughts on what Fanhuangong means for me: Reliving and sustaining the sensations I felt when I took in my first breath of air. Reactivatiing the wonder I felt at that moment. Restoring my physical condition to that which prevailed at the moment in my life when I was most vigorous.
  10. My Teacher - ‎Xiuming Jin

Oh... That was a real pleasure to watch, thanks MM :-)
  11. Airy-faery v. Honesty

haha, well, at some point, it does comes down to discretion of the reviewer. *Wanna test it? :-) *just kidding!
  12. Airy-faery v. Honesty

Well, but that's where the other thread is now. So, win-win, I'd say :-)
  13. 365 Tao by Deng Ming-Dao

I've had it since probably 1997 or -8. It was like my second bible back then, after the DDJ itself. I think it's very lovely and a very positive addition to the "western canon" of Daoist writings. How does it make you feel, rara? That's the important thing. And honestly, it may have been a better idea to first settle in with the book/calandar before asking for opinions on it. Because... wait for the critics to show up.
  14. Airy-faery v. Honesty

This is a complete misrepresentation of the matter, and that's all I have to say on the matter. Keep the language respectable, and there are no problems here expressing any thoughts. Hurl blatant insults at people, be it individuals or groups, and expect some basic adminstrative response. That's just how this forum works.
  15. Belly breathing and anxiety questions

Here's the book I mentioned previously: http://www.lamkamchuen.com/His_Works.html#16 I do feel you could do worse than to purchase it and apply the techniques, and keep the diary. The methods are very, very simple, but his expanations of the benefits are quite excellent and I think that anyone who works through this program, and keeps the diary, will have to see some significant improvement.
  16. Belly breathing and anxiety questions

Oh, speaking of anti-anxiety, Lam Kam Chuen's newest book speaks directly to that problem. I have it, and recommend it. It's quite simple, but quite good. It's a workbook and includes a diary to keep track of progress.
  17. lol, I know, I know. She always looks for opportunities like that, and I always provide her with them. Anyway, I was trying to be very specific about this aspect of circle walking in my query. My practice over the years has transformed my everyday in too many ways to count. Shrugging off smartass commentary from my wife being not a minor example...
  18. Belly breathing and anxiety questions

Hi Rara Do you want yet more suggestions? The very, very truncated version: Try yongchuan breathing instead. When you inhale, pull the toes up ever so slightly, as slightly as you can physically manage, feel the effect in the yongchuan cavities, or just in the arches of the feet. When you exhale, release that tiny piece of tension. As to why you're excitement level is rising, I think Spotless made some pretty good suggestions up there. The LDT is an area that's connected to a lot of other areas, including the adrenals. It's a power center in the body, and not necessarily an oasis of relaxation.
  19. I wanna mention this here, see what you think. I was at my second Bagua workshop (13 hours over Saturday and Sunday) where we concentrated almost the entire time on circle walking. We did eight basic palms and the most basic change, but that more ancillary to the main focus of the work. We did a lot of pre-exercises to open the hips, and the teacher worked quite a bit with me individually (because he's a friend of mine and I asked him to). It definitely opened a new level for me. The steps come out of the hip area much more than before, even though I've understood the principle and practiced it in the past. Koubu with the right leg (going counter-clockwise) comes from my left hip moving inward/rearward ... An awesome feeling. I experience it at the moment like two opposing forces that neutralize the energy-expenditure and result in my moving forward effortlessly. That's what I wanted to ask about. Does that sensation sound like a natural progression in Bagua? It's how I walk normally now, too (My wife says it just sounds like I'm walking like a woman, haha).

In Wunsiedel, a town of about 10,000 (not 1,000 as stated in the article), residents got creative in their approach to a pest problem: http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-4592903,00.html Short synopsis: Residents of Wunsiedel, Germany (which is just up the road from me) turned the tables on a planned neo-nazi march. They created a fund-drive that collected ten Euros for every meter the neo-nazis marched. The n-n's were unaware of the action before they started off and the town had prepared all sorts of creative, humorous signs along the route to make it clear what they were doing. Oh, yes, the funds went to an organisation called "EXIT-Deutschland" which helps members of the scene get out of it. So, for every meter they marched, the nazi-scum collected money to help fight nazi-scum. They went the full distance of 10km, bringing in 10,000 Euro for the organisation. Especially creative: aid stations with food and beverages for the participants, to help keep them going. That's where you see the "Mein Mampf" sign (haha!). There's a marathon run in Wunsiedel and I suspect the race organisers were probably involved in this. Note: The German word for "food" is "Essen". The word "Mampf" means something like "munchies". So the sign at the aid station is really incredibly funny! Feeling very proud of my courageous neighbors right now
  21. Humor trumps hatred

That's nice to read, Manitou, thanks I've learned in the meantime that a good acquaintance of mine did a lot of the work on this event. I want to point out how much courage it takes to stand up to these people. They are not the kind to forgive and forget, and there could well be some form of retaliation in the future. They've murdered people in the recent past.

Oh, the video has been translated to English now:
