Hello YinYang, and welcome to the forums! 2. Qigong Instructor Discussion Thread

thanks for the good feedback. But now I'm wondering how many teachers are in fact active Tao Bums, haha. Anyway, no time at present, but I'll return to this thread and write some stuff.
  3. Learning qigong on my own

Yes. Learn to stand still. But, just standing could actually raise the BP at first, and maybe not the best thing for the OP right away? Not for extended periods, anyway.

  7. Evidence of higher spiritual knowledge in Western poets

Walt Whitmann was brimming with the stuff What do you think has become of the young and old men? And what do you think has become of the women and children? They are alive and well somewhere, The smallest sprout shows there is really no death, And if ever there was it led forward life, and does not wait at the end to arrest it, And ceas'd the moment life appear'd. All goes onward and outward, nothing collapses, And to die is different from what any one supposed, and luckier. I wouldn't know what to bold or expand upon ... Leaves of Grass

  10. Learning qigong on my own

Hi again It is realistic to learn the fundamentals of qigong through self-study. The most fundamental thing of all is healthy breathing (and that's something that will relate directly to the two problems you mention). I recently wrote a short post in another thread about a simple way to get started: http://thetaobums.com/topic/36629-kidneys-failing-to-grasp-the-qi-tcm/#entry586713 Read that and give it a try :-)
  11. Breath- All we really need?

Wow, that really is fascinating. Thank you Uro!
  12. The cruelty of nature

me neither, but that's why I said close to. I meant, close to what people are talking about when they talk about miracles. But I never talk about miracles haha :-)
  13. Everyone post some favorite quotes!

I'd rather live 44 Steve Irwin years than 100 Pat Boone years --- some internet meme writer
  14. What do you think of loyalty?

Without having read the other replies, I'm going to say that loyalty in general isn't a pure concept. It's always mixed with other things like love, respect or fear. And then it's not so easy to discern the root of the actions that may be attritbuted to this thing called "loyalty". Now, loyalty to a flag or political body is, imo, the strongest signal that a human has been swayed into giving up his/her personal identity, and is also form of laziness. imo.
  15. The cruelty of nature

if you wish :-) further about the moon, if it were not the exact size that it is, and not in the exact orbit that it's in, it would never have affected the planet way it does (the very slight wobble in the Earth's axis), and life would never have developed here. We're a one in a trillion crap shoot. Every little thing that is alive on our planet is close to a miracle, seen in universal scale.
  16. The cruelty of nature

The moon causes a tiny shift in the Earth's rotation and that results in tidal movement, and the tidal movement in the ur-soup caused ur-microbes to be regularly washed up on ur-shores, and begin producing oxygen, which combined with hydrogen and slowly turned the chemical stew into water. Three billion years ago? We're very small fish in this big ocean.
  17. The cruelty of nature

haha well... I think about the microbiome often. I think it's very possibly the real super-intelligence that many people interpret as 'God' and other variaitons on the theme. Yesterday on the talk radio station (Bayern 2), there was a very interesting piece on muschrooms and the fungal world. One of the things that came up was the absolute dependancy of trees and the plant world on the microbial fungal world

  25. Hacked account

nope, too expensive. I drive a Spanish-made (with VW technology) SEAT: and my point about email was that the best email provider is generally your real internet provider. The only reason I'm with Telekom is they're the only provider with 4G/LTE service in my non-DSL area. But they do a good job, really can't complain.
