Shelve them and just sit my new mantra for today say it ten times fast
  2. Vajra strands

A few centuries ago, people didn't have other explanations for these things. Now we do The lights are in us, not un the sky. That doesn't detract from their value at all. It could even add to it, if you're so disposed. And watching them placidly, without judgement, is a lovely way to spend an afternoon, regardless of any arguments there may be regarding their origin.
  3. Tips for conservation of jing

when you first start out, it's really better to allow your own body to set the form. I actually suggest not reading any books, or taking any concrete advice on form, or asking experts about this stuff for a while. And if someone brings up Horse Stance, smile politely and nod, then just do your own thing.

  5. What would you tell your 20 year old self?

mine seem to have all involved hot rods
  6. Tips for conservation of jing

ahhh... nice :-) Well, try this for fun: Stand up any old way Start jumping up and down Kick your legs out to the sides, and back and forth spontaneously Swing your arms around (don't go beserk, but don't be overly reserved, either. Try to have a little fun) Move freely and energetically for a minute or two And then jump up in the air and just STOP when you land, and freeze that position whatever it is Settle into that position, making only slight adjustemts that make it easier and perhaps feel a litlte more 'natural', but really minimal adjustments. Don't move for three solid minutes. Don't move anything. That's a very effective and fun way to begin standing (Zhan Zhuang) practice. Do that a couple times a day till you can get up to ten solid minutes relatively easily (by this time, you can also shorten the vigorous jumping opening exercise accordngly, to whatever feels right, even if it's just a couple seconds). Then start looking into more concrete, traditional approaches. (At the end of each session, pat the body down, from head to foot, and lay your hands comfortably atop one another on your lower belly for a good half minute at least)
  7. What would you tell your 20 year old self?

Oh, I didn't (perhaps because future me contacted young me and spoke some sense?) but it was a very close call. I had planned on it, and then some things happened in Colorado that convinced me to get the hell out while I could. If I hadn't been planning all along to re-up, I could have spent a lot more time preparing for the life afterwards. As it turned out, my new wife and I jumped into icy cold waters of reality fully unprepared. Something else to tell 20-year me: Get it writing!

  11. Thought id say hello :-)

    Hello Paul from a brother 51er :-)
  12. Meditation

Good suggesitons, but those are very complex disciplines that require much commintment before they begin to truly unfold for the practitioner. A more suitable moving practice for someone like him, imo, would be Baduanjin (Eight Brocades) or a few of the movements from the Shibashi (18 Taiji-Qigong sequence). But to start with: Stand up. Dont move. Zhan Zhuang. Outside in a pleasant natural environment if possible, but anyplace will do, really. Even watching the TV is not only an acceptable but some who know what they're talking about would say the preferable alternative.
  13. Clock and Qi

    Fan Huan Gong :-)
  14. Meditation

Well tbh that's a big task to accomplish given your current situation. But you could try something as simple as setting the alarm clock fifteen minutes early and spending that time in quiet contemplation. Imo the time would be best spent standing still.
  15. The cruelty of nature

About 10 years ago, I was helping out at a youth center (Kinderhort, actually) and was playing football with a group of boys, from about 8 to 12 years old. One of them was being very sluggish and grumpy the whole time and finally just sat down in the middle of the field and stayed there. I asked him what (zum Teufel) was wrong with him and he answered, "Ich habe Weltschmerzen". The thing is, that hedgehog didn't have Weltschmerzen. He accepted what life had given him, and was more than ready to walk the path ahead of him, regardless how long or short it is. Nature isn't cruel and uncaring, it's beyond all that.
  16. Court update

This is awesome. I hope you don't get in trouble for sharing the information but it seems you and your team have things firmly in grip. If/when you win the case, I hope you get all legal costs reimbursed. Is that the law there? It is here. also, I would love to be invited to come visit you someday. That sounds like a beautiful spot of Earth you found :-)
  17. Tips for conservation of jing

    Stand up. Don't move.
  18. why people lived longer and were taller in the past?

Living long isn't the same thing as extended lifespan.
  19. Fuxi's Poem

Nice That's a fundamental part of my practice. Waves. Waiting for them. Being carried by them. Crests and valleys, inhalation, exhalation. The more I let them run their own course, the more subtle they become.
  20. Breath pacer recommendations?

I don't know if I'd use it for breathing but there's a wonderful app called zazen meditation app for Android. It's free and just really top drawer stuff
  21. Use the water wheel analogy. When one side is rising, the other is sinking. Stay in the middle.
  22. Breathing in / up is normal The description of Chia method in the OP is reverse
