That's a really good question because those are important techniques that get overlooked. Possibly because they appear too simple to be effective?

Hello Jessica, and welcome to the forums! Your membership is approved and we're happy to have you here. I'm sure you'll find many members happy to help explore your beliefs, share theirs with you and suggest new approaches and possibilities. The Tao Bums is an incredibly dynamic community, it never gets dull here and the deeper you scratch, the more you find. Btw, I like your screen name :-) In the meantime: Please take the time to read the two posts pinned at the top of this Welcome page and take a look at the forum terms and rules. This covers all you need to know when getting started. For the first week you will be restricted to ten posts per day but after that you can post as much as you like. Also, until you’ve posted fifteen times in the forums, you’ll be a “Junior Bum” with somewhat restricted access and will be allowed only two private messages per day. Good luck in your pursuits and best wishes to you, SC and the TDB team

Something to add to the list, which is already really very good. It can help to have a dedicated sleeping room. Keep your bedroom free of everything that doesn't have to do with sleeping. No TV, no ironing board etc. Also try moving the bed to different positions.

This is always interesting to me. One the one hand, the MP'ers make the case that only their practice has ever been scientifically tested and proven to work. It is the bedrock of their belief, and the mountain they perceive themselves standing on while throwing boulders at all other practices. Does that sound about right? Well, I'd like to see the scientific proof of reincarnation, a thing that you all apparently accept as fact even though you've never met a person who has witnessed its occuring. This seems like a real conundrum to me. A contradiction. How do you all reconcile it? I'm actually interested in this. I'm not trolling you.

Here's the lineup of the Banned I saw last night (at the music hall on the grounds of the Warwick bass company, in Markneukirchen)

I've been to a good number of Zappa revival concerts over the past five or so years, with musicians from his various lineups. Some friends and I saw the Banned from Utopia last night, which was a jaw-dropping performance. And just now I was viewing this video from the old Mothers of Invention from London 1968. I saw Don Preston (the keyboard player) in a tiny local club two years ago and hung out with him for a while after the show:

When I was practicing a lot more internal kan/li meditation, a friend who hadn't seen me for a good year or so commented, "since when do you color your hair?". Of course, I don't color my hair. But after she said that, I began looking at my hair in mirrors (especially after getting into the car) to look at my hair ... it only took about two months for the full gray to return and it's been that way since. Her comment actually wormed its way into my meditations (and she's the kind of energy-sucker that would do something like that intentionally) and I'm wondering now if it's partly why I sort of drifted away from those practices. So, my point is obviously, as miffy says, it's a tricky edge to walk. Intentions and desires can be a trap.

I bet that's what the lamb thought, too.

The role of Dragons in Internal Arts (Neijia)

I also think it's not the best path to try and analyze too narrowly what these sensations represent in any specific tradition or belief. I think when you that, they leave. -
That sounds good!

why?

Hello Raven's Fire, and welcome to the forums! Your membership is approved and we're happy to have you here :-) You might find this annoying but I have to tell you that my wife and I are huge fans of the TV show Northern Exposure and our favorite character is Ed Chigliak, the mild-mannered, young Tlingit film-making genius :-) It was thanks to that show that we know anything at all about your clan (if that's the right way to express it). Alaska is defintely on my short list of places to not only visit but to experience before I die. And with my qigong, I hope that means I still have a lot of time available to realize the dream :-) Please take the time to read the two posts pinned at the top of this Welcome page and take a look at the forum terms and rules. Nice :-) I can relate and have posted comments and threads indicating my current thinking on the source of life.

Wow, great reading material in here, glad this got bumped! :-)

But then I have to question the value of any instruction you may be getting from him. I don't quite understand your situation. Basically, the place to start is correct straight-line walking. Maybe look into Tom Bisio's books on the subject?

I think this is something only your teacher can realistically answer for you, no?

I thought his reply was spot on.

Hey there I'm writing on behalf of Sunshine007 who PM'd me to say that s/he can't start new threads in the forums. I already suggested trying different browsers, but the problem seems to persist. I checked the settings and there's no restriction. Any ideas?

Interesting! I didn't know that -
we do that, too, but fully aware that the poor in our community are living like royalty compared to poorest of the poor in the bigger world.
