Well, my understanding: General Discussion is unfocussed, but remains within the structure of the scope of the website which is "spirituality", in a nutshell. Off-topic is much broader, a place to shoot the breeze and talk about anything under the sun, so long as it isn't heavily controversial (that's what the Pit is for). But I see that this forum has been reverted back to General Discussion, so probably a moot point on my part anyway.

have it made? In what way? They're virtually destitute.

I think there needs to be a clear(er) delineation between 'General' and 'Off Topic' sections, regardless of the naming process.

With European scientists, and there was a solid reason the Germans didn't develop it first. The leader of the project had a conscience and put his life on the line by lying to the administration about the time needed to realise the project. The reality was that they would have had it done within about a year, but after calculating the real damage this weapon would cause, he made the decision to stall it. He falsified test reports and told them they needed something like another 4 or 5 years, and this was too long for the regime, causing them to put the project on ice.

Random thought about Dao that can not be spoken
soaring crane replied to soaring crane's topic in Daodejing
I'm highly surprised that thread keeps popping up and has stretched out as long as it has. Also surprised that I've not noticed the typo in the title until now! Weird .... -
I agree sooo much. I also have a pet theory that if we were all barefoot all the time, there would be no litter - no tissues, food wrappers, gum, cigarette butts, etc, dropped carelessly. And that would carry over to the bigger picture i.e. no pollution. out of time have to post truncated

^^ I like that Post something poetic here. Something that creates a representative image on the reader's inner picture screen. why do you write in tiny text so often, btw? -
hahah I only clicked this because of the change in the title. 12. Industry

Nice For me, the Achilles tendon is all the evidence I need. It's a unique and powerful, purpose-built tool, and the only way it could have developed is through 100s of thousands of years spent running. And the sporting goods industry (and the orthopedic industry, as well) has waged a war against this beautiful, elegant piece of our anatomy.

boah, I just can't let that go unchallenged. Absolute stereotyping, based on old myths. Sorry, Dawei, but you can't have actually watched many games and still draw that conclusion. Germans play with as much passion and emotion as anyone else, and Brazil of today is anything but "magic". Dirty Tricks is a better description of their strategy at this WC. They've completely gone off the scale with hard, dirty fouls, and the twelfth member of their team aka Referinho has seen to it that they progress through the stages. Joachim Löw, the German trainer, interrupted journalists at a press conference to comment about Neymar's injury: "Es tut uns schrecklich leid. Für ihn, für die Mannschaft, für die ganze Nation. Ich hoffe auf schnelle Genesung und dass alles gut für ihn wird. Wir hätten ihn gerne dabei gehabt" "We're deeply sorry for him, for the team, for the eintire nation. I wish a quick recovery and hope everything will turn out good for him. We would have enjoyed having him in the game" He actually said more about it but I can't find the full text. It was a heartfelt commentary from someone with a big heart.

I was into barefoot running before BtR came out - but only as a training technique. Berforehand, I would take my shoes off for a half mile or so toward the end of a run. I was inspired at that time by a couple guys in the Runners World forums (which if you think this place gets nutty, you should have seen that place in those days, wow) who wrote about BF running on roads. They were considered totally insane. But I tried it once and was blown away by how comfortable it was. But I continued to view it as a supplement to my normal, shod running. I also at least moved into 'nuetral' shoes at that time (which I now know are also a crock). I suspect one of those guys back then was Ted MacDonald, and the other was KenBob Saxton. Born to Run came out and that inspired me, for the first time, to leave the house for a run without any shoes at all. I felt soooo insecure without any 'backup' in case I got in trouble (I had decided I would do at least five miles). But it went well and I felt like a total rebel Then I got into the scene in a big way. Had ups and downs. Experienced TOFP (Top Of Foot Pain) in a big way, but developed my own self-massage routine to combat and prevent it. Worked a lot on running form and technique... Got into ultra running, etc ... Now I run a lot less, because I was burning myself out and want to regenerate. I'm back to a lot more qigong and a lot less running, but still run a couple times a week. Barefoot, of course. Running barefoot is a whole different activity than walking. It's the running that tranforms the foot, and the plantar skin.

I always thought it should be called "introductions", or "new nembers", but Lobby was OK, too. And I agree, "Entrance" is weird

I'm sure it was only a little humor, no worries -
Feet are where it's at for me. I've been running (and living, whenever possible) barefoot for I guess five years now. My feet in that time have grown a little shorter, higher and wider. My toes are longer and splay much, much more than they used to, and the plantar skin is thick, tough, and suprisingly soft. Like supple leather. But my toes are Roman. Always have been, and apparently always will be. What about you, Taomeow? Sidenote - in my experience, podiatrists are quick to tell patients that the foot is the weak link in the biomechanical chain, and absolutely needs all the support it can get. Which is of course unadulterated, shameless bullshit.

Lam Kam Chuen says he was evaluated for three years before being accepted. He says they were testing to see if he was intteligent or stupid. If he was intelligent, he would never have been accepted, haha. Smart people aren't taught anything of substance. -

haha, you mean like within 15 minutes, right? -
I guess it boiled down to experimentation, observation and refinement; keeping what works, eliminating what doesn't work. Combined with the element of time invested in these arts, the results are pretty impressive.

do tell, do tell I had only posted this because I wanted to try to capture an image that occured to me, and it felt good. I'm into intellectualizing the nature of the universe. I like poetry a lot more.
