  1. enlightened relationships

thanks everyone for the advice. i'm basically over the situation. I'll just stay in the now, if I must break it off I will.
  2. Xingyi in Portland

Gregory Fong's Chinese Martial Arts If you are interested in learning Xingyi, Sifu Fong right in downtown Portland started teaching Six Harmony Xingyi. It's not on his website but it's at the same time slot on his schedule as Yichuan/Kung-Fu. Thought someone in the area might want to know. I am in his Chen Taiji, I'm developing strength and discipline before I put myself through the burning pain that lasts the entire length of his Xingyi/Yichuan/Kungfu session.
  3. Xingyi in Portland

I told a student learning yiquan, taiji, and xingyi and kung fu from Sifu that I felt I was too weak to be in the xingyi class. He said," We all start off too weak, only the first few weeks suck". there is also a schedule conflict, but the all out yiquan intensive will likely override my other activities in no time.
  4. Physical condition

is fasting and rather intensive muscle work safe?
  5. Physical condition

hahahahahahaha, i actually laughed out loud. It's funny because you are right.
  6. use chi to power your punch

sorry, but I would feel bad to put any amateur against any internal so called master.
  7. no fajin no taiji

I trust my teacher, because he teaches Yiquan. Also, it's obvious, not only because he is in better shape than anyone i've ever met while being at the age of 60, but because of his energy, attitude, intention, way of teaching, main principles he teaches, understanding of Chi, muscle, and physics, it's obvious, that he could easily apply and whoop anyone that i've ever seen in my life.
  8. enlightened relationships

All advice taken. I just wrote a paragraph about how sometimes, I can't do a single thing right, no matter how happy I want her to be. Mostly, how much my ego wants her to not put me down for not doing things that are up to her standards. Then, I wrote about how I can't talk in person. Words out of my hands are far more effective than out of my mouth. Also that I can connect concepts easily, and logically interpret and parallel unassociated information. But there always comes into play, this frantic energy, trying to please her, but it always fails. It always knocks my awareness out of my body. I think it's part of my social anxiety too. This is all very confusing
  9. i need a staff

anyone know where to get a medium weight staff? I just want to include more strength training in my routine.
  10. qigong and emotions

i've been practicing Yiquan's Zhan Zhuang, and not-so-random strength conditioning exercises, some of which I speculate comes from my teacher's Praying Mantis or Luk Hop Ba Fa background, but I have no idea. Anyway, when I do my practices dilligently, I do notice a better presence within me, I frequency that won't lower itself for egoic emotions and thoughts. Out of curiousity, are there any meditations or qigong forms that are directly for emotions and thoughts that are to inevitably be transcended? by the way, I practice presence through out the day as written by Eckhart Tolle.
  11. it seems like a person can have sex, and still have a very resourceful energy body. Is jing preservation only necessary for the alchemical practices of transforming jing to qi to shen? It just seems to me it'd only be necessary if you are trying to reach total nirvana, and unnecessary if you are trying to live a life full of egoless happiness, health, wealth, truth, respect and bliss. John Chang had a family and children. Lu Zijian had children. Li Ching-Yun had tons of children over the span of his minimally 170 year old life. what do you all think?
  12. is reserving jing even necessary?

where or what to read about tantra?
  13. Qigong Healers Needed

out of OR, WA, and CA, which do you prefer? cause i'm from Oregon, and I know my spiritual counselor knows of a really good qigong doctor in the portland area.
  14. Chunyi Lin's SFQ

do you need the CD to do the small universe meditation?
  15. Laziness

zhan zhuang, i've only practiced Yiquan's interpretation of Zhan Zhuang. but this practice absolutely made me less lazy, and has been improving my performance in school, which I used to hate. Practice, when it starts burning, let it burn for 20 seconds. gradually increase.
  16. qigong and emotions

I've been kind of wanting to start Chunyi Lin's Spring Forest Qigong again, but I don't want to have to listen to his cd to do the small universe meditation. I think his form is really great, and effective. My ego doesn't like that it's so well known. Out of spite for my ego and love of growth, maybe I should surrender to the practice.
  17. i need a staff

ow, the crack on the elbow sounds look a doozy. teacher knows weapons forms. but he mainly teaches Yiquan in week day classes and generally only uses staff for strength training. He teaches weapons at the park on weekends. I heard he strongly believes in Yiquan, and that he basically uses the taiji title to get students interested to ultimately teach Yiquan principles. Then does a tiny bit of form at the end of session to satisfy students. I believe the one who said that because out of the two and a half hours i'm there, two hours is yiquan, the other half hour is form, sometimes split into 15/15 as form and then Yiquan push hands. Anyway, i'll find a martial arts supply store somewhere around here and feel it out.
  18. Coincidence

synchronicity is all too common for there not to be some kind of metaphysics behind it, to my mind at least. I don't have a hard time believing in fate and destiny as a predetermined path, because I'd be the one who determined it before incarnating. But I doubt it works like that, possibly the events that are part of destiny are only experience in one form or another, not an exact event. Anyway, coincidence is way too common.
  19. The "S" word

i have always had a grudge against kunlun, but if surrendering is part of it, i support it. surrender is key.
  20. The Right Path of Yiquan

The Right Path of Yiquan by Wang Xiangzhai Here is a pdf of a book by i-chuan's founder. it's only 21 pages long, i suggest reading it. Chapters: Changing One's Strength with Zhanzhuang Training the Muscles, the Tendons, and the Bones Exerting Strength Training the Qi Nourishing the Qi Syncretism of the Five Elements Six Harmonies Formulas Put into Verse The Classical Method of Hand-to-Hand Fighting Dragon Method Tiger Method The Right Path of Yiquan
  21. send me to articles about Zhan Zhuang, even more specifically I prefer Yiquan's Zhan Zhuang. I read Sawai was told by Wang Xiangzhai about standing in a way that it was comparable with zazen meditation. Any article, i just want to learn more about my practice. oh yeah, by the way, what makes Taikiken and Yiquan different?
  22. i need a staff

but the hurt is so swell. anyway, out of curiosity what weight are you using? I seek a different kind of strength. thank you all for the tips.
  23. A True Sign of Insanity

mastering anything is, to me, is the opposite of boring. It's exciting to me when I notice exercise hurting less, and my mind calming down. But it might be because I used to eat LSD and mushrooms all the time, but hallucinating got boring too. Life was definitely not calm but naturally ill and boring to the spirit in its meaningless ride of highs and lows, so the arts is where the thrill of life is for me.
  24. A True Sign of Insanity

to quote my yiquan sifu,"If you want to be a master, you got to be nuts. If you don't think you're nuts, don't even think about being a master".
  25. Chi gung, N.L.P & hypnosis

do it, improve it. by the way, ever heard of alchemical hypnosis? it may be a good addition.
