  1. I just want to know what you all think of this book for somebody with a pretty screwed up energy body.
  2. bruce lee for strength

this is thread has become a hijacked, pointless, and a petty your wrong i'm right arguement. I'll just continue doing 1 pullup until I can do 2.
  3. weird that money is holding me back....

My teacher says to never stress the knee, never let it go to the sides, nor past the toes. With such limits I can't see there being any problems. His american name is Gregory Fong. He is a good teacher. He's learned Northern Shoalin style from Sifu Yim Sheung Mo. He has also learned from Master Chen Xiaowang. I-chuan from Master Yu Yong Nian(direct student of Master Wang Xiangzhai), Wang Yu Fang(Master Wang's daughter) and Master Po Jar Chung. Praying Mantis Kung-fu from Sifu Chan Yin Yee. He's also studied in Wu style. Wang PeiShang teaches Wu style? There are pictures of him with many other teachers but I don't know if he spent significant amounts of time with them. Anybody know anything about these teachers? Anyway i'm learning Chen style from him, soon I-chuan and Kung-fu once I'm healthier and have more money, but I don't believe that this style has 'lost it'. Maybe elsewhere. I'm new so I have no support of anything I say but my own logic and feeling. I will become healthier and balanced. I will have good structure. To me it seems like the form in Chen certainly teaches the flow of energy from one leg to the other. And we also have to learn how to direct energy from our feet and earth, through our body to generate greater power. I'm only a month in, i have alot to learn and i'm stoked. I really do have to take matters into my own hands. That is for sure. I'm just new to the idea of qigong that I hadn't quite grasped that the best thing I can do is learn for myself. I thought I could do that at the beginning but many many people seemed to believe that qigong can harm you. I don't understand this, possibly the type of qigong discussed earlier, storing in the dantien. but they were talking about M.Chia's where you generally just use the energy already in your dantian. Anyway, thank you all very much.

i want to be soft and solid, not strong. Maybe a loose strength. I also just want to be able to do more than one pull-up so I can actually use it as an exercise, that's all. I've been doing scattered sets of 1 throughout the day. There has got to be a better way. Sifu Fong wants me to be able to do 100 pull-ups. I can do 1, haha he thought I was joking at first. I don't think anybody cares about Bruce Lee's way. He seems ignant, fast, and strong. Let's move on to the next issue. Would doing an exercise that isn't the same motion as pull-ups but works the same muscles help me?
  5. weird that money is holding me back....

i've only been practicing taiji for a month and half so I only know about the first minute or two of the full form, this is why I wonder if i should even practice it because I don't want to practice the wrong movement over and over again. But I will do what I know and try to correct myself. Anyway there are many things I am grateful for, i will pay more attention to them. But i am emotionally numb, i'm not very exciting, social, or funny. Social situations just make me uncomfortable and awkward regardless of the situation. this is all my choice, especially since I never used to be like this, but what can I do but do my best and do it right now? That's why the ONLY thing I do is study the mystic world and work at what my teacher has given me to work at. My world model seems little, I don't understand the way I am, and I used to not understand people that are like the way I am now. Karma? The internet has alot of information. I go very far into it's depths. But how does that compare to the vibration of another soul directly helping me out?
  6. Randy Choy on Gregory Fong's site there are 20 articles in the series, covering everything from intelligent training to the eight han dynasty exercises to training in eight footwork boxing. what do you think?
  7. weird that money is holding me back....

should I practice the form everyday? right now i'm only doing standing, and conditioning.
  8. weird that money is holding me back....

I hope it's enough, I do not see very much happiness in my life anymore and i've been told to wait and see if standing and taiji will balance myself out over the months. So here I go, I still think a counselor would be a good person to talk to, cause the environment I learn taiji in doesn't contain the time to talk about such things. maybe when he knows i'm serious and I start working with the more up to date students.
  9. weird that money is holding me back....

right now, all I do is tai chi. no meditations of any sort. but I am going to start seeing Eliza Carroll for counseling and healing. I'm sure she can direct me to a good meditation complimentary to my taiji. My taijiquan teacher had signups for an 80 dollar qigong and massage workshop. i wish i could have went. I have a question about taiji... when I am feeling weight hold my arms down or back or whatever, i am feeling chi do these things, yi is a form of chi manipulation? and when I move my foot through the space of weighted chi in my hands, does it at all affect the chakras in my feet?
  10. bruce lee for strength

well, my teacher is definitley a very good teacher. he has taught standing(which is a really great workout), and an assortment of strength conditioning to gain the type of raw strength taijiquan and kung-fu require. He wants his students to gain strength and health before he starts to teach them kung-fu and I-chuan(even though he teaches I-chuan principles in all classes). I believe this is his intent. Anyway, he wants us to do as many pull-ups as possible, but I my history has only given me the strength to do one pull-up. The main muscle used in pulling up is the latissimus dorsi, so would an exercise like these help me build up to being able to do more? Bent-Over Row Deadlift For now I will do as many one reps as I can in a day, and due it incredibly slow on the way down. He also has us do knuckle pushups, I have open cuts on both hands, if I continue to open these up(i bled on the floor last class) will it build deeper calusses? I didn't expect such basic strength workouts but it all makes sense now. I definitely found the right guy to teach me taijiquan for more than just health. also, when he is doing the form, he does so many fast pop and locks it's insane, so many tons of subtle movements it's hard to believe i'll ever be that coordinated and fast.
  11. what would you do, i remember three years ago I lost ten pounds in a week from eating once a day and jump roping everyday. But i know that can't be healthy the way I was doing it. but anyone know a website i can learn five elemental nutrition? what would be an effective way for me to lose the weight off my stomach, cause my limbs are extremely thin.
  12. bruce lee for strength

do you think his work is unhealthy physically or subtlely?
  13. i want to lose weight and get clear

yeah, i just want to be the best I can at everything i do without doing anything unnecessary, like harboring extra pull from gravity. I can't find any benefits of having a fat layer on my abdomen, it certainly isn't going to cushion a blow or hold more chi haha. I'm definitely not fat, I'm 5'10" 165lbs, with no muscle. I pretty much have a nerd's body.
  14. what is Hsing-I?

I think my teacher is holding an intensive this weekend on it, but I don't know what it is.
  15. what is Hsing-I?

you are cool, i like your view. advice taken
  16. bruce lee for strength

i want explosive speed and power. i also don't want bulk muscle to get in my way after years of doing whatever training I decided to switch to from this point.
  17. astrology guide?

can you direct us towards a resource of any kind that can help to learn how to apply five elemental astrology in all facets of life? thanks
  18. what is Hsing-I?

cool replies. Yeah, it probably is I-chuan. In all of his classes he incorporates principles of I-chuan although I don't know which is from t'ai chi and which is from I-chuan, i just do my practice.
  19. what is Hsing-I?

this is stupid of me, yes, but I don't even know if it is Hsing-I. I thought Hsing-I was I-chuan but i'm wrong? Soon i'll be comfortable enough to ask him questions outside of the t'ai chi context.
  20. I'm looking forward to practicing t'ai chi for the rest of my life 'till death do me and my body apart until birth again. (my goal is not transcendence, this is a beautiful and diverse plane that needs the help of aware people like all of us) Is there a good resource to learn turtle qigong or another longevity practice without a teacher? how long have you practiced t'ai chi, any comments? and anyone know of a good naturopathic doctor or psychologist that does energy work in the Portland Oregon area?
  21. t'ai chi, qigong, health, longevity....

Gregory Fong This is my teacher, I see him as being a very good teacher of I-chuan, praying mantis kung fu, and chen/yang style t'ai chi. I am a newbie but i have a hunch that Sifu Fong is going to be the best teacher I can find, and will be my teacher for a long time.
  22. What do you believe is necessary to transcend? and ascend?
  23. When asked a question about LSD, a yogi said to only use the medicine when alone and alone with your mind. I was just wondering if anyone knows of good information on this idea. I know that I wouldn't be practicing spiritually if I hadn't ever done mushrooms or LSD. They tore down my cultural ego. This is the standard experience from these types of substances. Erowid has some particular meditations to do while 'up there'. My friend while on LSD on the side of a mountain in Hawaii and his wife did a meditation through a windstorm thru the night, the whole time he could see a white light from her third eye go up into the sky. Anyway, i just want more information on this practice and method. I believe that these entheogens increase the amount of energy in your body, and it's up to you to use that energy as you wish. Whether it be directing it into paranoia or awakening.
  24. I love taijiquan

    cool
