Hi everyone. I've been giving kunlun a shot for a couple weeks now, and it has been really interesting, more so than other things I have practiced. Most of what I have been learning from it has been coming to me while I sleep, much more so that during the actual practice. I do get the leg shaking, everything else stays pretty smooth, but enjoyable. The first week I would get a really strong sexual energy developing during my sleeping hours. Nothing too intense, just something I notice at different times when I would wake for a moment here or there. Last night I kept getting this thing about opening up the the whole experience of everything going on. I always saw myself as being very open and understanding, always trying to see where someone is coming from. But now I feel like I'm realizing it's so easy to use my lives experiences and lessons to come to my conclusions about things, and also deciding what is good, what I want, or what I want to see, that it really shuts me off to being more open to everything. What's difficult is learning to embrace it all, being able to let the rest in. It's hard to put into words. I know this is something I hear about a lot, so please forgive me if I am not saying anything new here, but it's actually meaning something to me now and I would like to try to put it into practice. I feel welcome here, also somewhat meek seeing where some people are at here. But I still wanted to share. Also, dreams and ideas so easily fade as day to day life creeps in. I wanted to help solidify.

Kunlun Practice and Transmission Sessions in NJ
Junbao replied to JazZen's topic in General Discussion
Hey Jazz, Thanks for your MyKunlun site. Do you think anyone may ever come out to Colorado area? I wonder if Chris has any idea when more seminars will start up again.... Would be cool to check this out if I was close enough. -
Taomeow, I'm not sure about the yin fire, what that would really mean. I did the reading at the link steam provided, and it says that my Day Master is Yin Fire. My birth year is Rat. I am usually happy and optimistic, but when I get the stomach thing going and the heat, it makes things uncomfortable. I do like to cook! I work all day, and it's something I enjoy doing when I get home. My wife likes it too! Any recommendations if I want to look into balancing things better? Or any water practices you might recommend?

Thanks Taomeow for the insights and steam for the link. I did the chart there, and as I thought, I am predominately fire (yin fire) and often times feel excess heat, and also, even though I have a VERY strong digestion, my stomach bothers me often (perhaps too much heat, to strong digestive fire?). Lately when I am outside during these warm days, my ears will flare up hot and red. Just my ears. My thinking would lead me to believe I need a good water practice, or something along those lines. Steam recommended doing standing at the cooler times of day. That may help after a while? Physically I am very fire, but my personality is opposite. I am quiet and mellow and don't like to rock the boat.

From what I learned from traditional Chinese Medicine, the destructive cycle can be used to put an element in check that is in excess. Like for example if you had excess fire, in the destructive cycle water extinguishes fire, and so you could emphasis a water practice to cool the fire. From my understanding the creative cycle is balancing and nourishing, and the destructive is more for specific issues. Please someone correct me if I am wrong. Chris, are these postures effective to practice individually, or for longer periods to work on a specific organ or element? Like if you had excess heat, and stomach issues, could you practice the water and earth longer, or by themselves, to help create balance? Thanks!

I bought it Friday. Just waiting for them to print and ship!

Yeah, it looks like the video is in the correct order. It looks like the postures are labeled ok, but the descriptions of the cycle are off. So he starts with Wood, then even though it says "Wood penetrates Earth", he goes into the fire posture, which is then labeled correctly as "Fire Element: heart, small intestine"....and so on.... Scotty, is there a new book coming out? Revised of the old? Or new altogether? I just ordered from lulu and that would be poo poo to have a new revision come out right after I order....

You mean like in a lower horse stance? Good for the legs and rooting too.

Hey all, Just wondering what some folks over here would recommend as a good Qigong, moving and still, that is cool, watery, and grounding. These are the things I feel I am needing right now, and I would love to get some input from people here. Some Qigong my body does well with and responds in a good way. Some qigong though, mainly mind leads Qi types, tend to generate more heat in my system than I find comfortable. I like moving Qigong because it exercises the body and the Qi, and does so without intent. I've had good success with MO, but then after a week or so of good results, it starts to be more energy than I can use or need and it becomes heat and uncomfortable. I often seem to get pressure in my solar plexus area and sometimes gas/air trapped in the spleen area. Thanks for any input!!

Cool, Thanks for all that, steam! Gives me something to work with and I really appreciate you taking the time to put the videos and links in there.

Thanks Pranaman, I'll try that out and see how it works for me. Anyone else have any recommendations for a moving Chigong or breathing method that is good for cooling the internal system and grounding? Thanks!

I grew up in a Catholic family. 5 kids and my parents did music for a folk mass all through the late 70's and some of the 80's. I never did get it, I loved the music but could never understand the idea of "believe this way or your going to hell". If I can so easily forgive people I am sure that god can even more so. I remember going through confirmation class, and ending it in the middle. Not because I was being a teenage rebel, but, and I told this to my parents and my teacher, I just didn't in all honesty hear god or Jesus talking to me. I didn't understand what they were all talking about and didn't feel it in my heart, so how could I honestly go through with something like that. They had no argument against me. I did one time end up at a place where a preacher was laying hands on people. I was not following the religion at the time, but was curious as to what was going on. I try to feel things as honestly as I can, and in doing so I can be somewhat skeptical about things. My friend and I decided to go up and see what he was doing felt like. This guy definitely had something real. We both were overcome by this wave of release and relaxation. We didn't go down like some people, but there was really something there. What I don't get is the churches with electric guitars and all that. Even with his long hair, I can never imagine a "Heavy Metal Jesus"

Hey all, Been dabbling in Taoism, Yoga, Tai Chi, Kung Fu, for about 9 years now. Lately I just ride my bike 120 miles a week, and do my Kung Fu sets, and conditioning. Looking to get back into something more spiritual, and add to my practice. Just found this site randomly the other day really. Love the site and the positive input people seem to have. I'm hoping for a fun place to share experiences and support. I grew up in Cali, and moved here to Colorado 2 years ago. Love it I got an itch the other day to search out some Tao Yin exercises, and ended up here. Been reading a lot about Kunlun here, and so I am giving that a try based on things people with years of backround are saying. Just ordered the book today. Looks like they have to make it before it ships. Also, I love Trunk's site!!! Great info and much appreciated. Wishing well, Junbao

That was fun to watch. Saturday morning cartoons.... It's an interesting perspective. At the end Satan says "Life itself is only a vision, a dream. Nothing exists, save empty space and you, and you are only a thought." I feel that emptiness is the source, and vibration is the duality that comes from that source. To me they both are real. Complimentary even In death duality continues, as the energy from decomposing matter becomes something else. Maybe emptiness is not nothing, but everything. Like the circle that encompasses taichi. I don't know if the universe thinks about this kind of stuff, or if it just is. I prefer to just be. Thanks for sharing!
