You probably don't need this book if you got "Measuring Meditation", although "25 doors..." is a good book to have. Check UK Amazon.com http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1...5278826-9766244 Also, if you can, get "To Realize Enlightenment" and "Working toward enlightenment", both by Nan Huai-Chin.

Pietro, I see where you are coming from. All I can say is this. You either do it or you don't. You help beings because you chose to, and if something stops you form doing this thing, than you shouldn't do it. If you think this is a ritual that can become a "mental masturbation", you should find something that you feel more comfortable with, like going to Africa to help kids with HIV or donating your time in a homeless center. Either way you and the beings you help will benefit. I see our whole life as a bunch of rituals, from the minute we wake up to the minute we go back to bed. It's just some rituals can lift your spirit better.

If you practice every day and on a spiritual path for a long time, it is your true nature that will guide you to make steps and help other beings. You will look for the ways to do it so your abilities are used to the fullest extent possible. Feeding hungry ghosts is not a simple matter. It requires that you already have enough good karma to notice this method to be worthy of your time as opposed to just look at it and exclaim "Fuck hungry ghosts... There are millions of people in this world that need food". There are many people on this planet that dedicated their lives to helping poor and unfortunate. How many people do you know that do the same for beings suffering in hells or trapped in this realm? Do you think those beings are insignificant comparing to people in this physical world? If you feed ghosts long enough, you WILL see the difference and actual results. All depends on your level of perception, that's all.

Hey Yoda, Just remember the goal of this type of meditation... all those visualizations are ok but at the end they all perish. That is the goal that actually WILL bring you super-powers, if you practice long enough. By that time you won't really care about them either, as like everything else, those powers are just an illusion. I want to quote a part form "25 doors to meditation": "When Buddha was alive, there was no temple or communal shelter for his students. Therefore, he often asked his students to cultivate in graveyards where they were to practice the body-mindfulness and skeleton visualization techniques. In that time in India, graveyards were very dirty places with corpses visibly decaying everywhere, so there was plenty of opportunity to watch the putrefaction of the body and to observe its internal structure of flesh and bones. Hence a proper knowledge of anatomy was important for practicing this sadhana and still is today. In watching a physical body decay and putrefy, the practitioners would also be struck by the dirty, impure, and impermanent nature of the body, from which it was easy to learn detachment and free oneself from sexual desire..... ..... many of Buddha's students achieved enlightenment in as little as three days because their surroundings were different and they learned how to detach from the physical nature..."

Ron, we all do what we can to help those in need, be that an advise about meditation, money to that homeless guy or a prayer for suffering spirits. The question is "WILL you go out and help homeless?" or "WILL you sit and pray for the hungry ghosts?"

A Polish guy is walking along the beach in France. There are many beautiful women lying in the sun, and he really wants to meet one. But try as he might, the women don't seem to be at all interested. Finally, as a last resort, he walks up to a French guy lying on the beach who is surrounded by adoring women. "Excuse me," he says, taking the guy aside, "but I've been trying to meet one of those women for about an hour now, and I just can't seem to get anywhere with them. You're French. You know these women. What do they *want*?" "Maybe I can help a leetle beet," says the Frenchman. "What you do ees you go to zee store. You buy a leetle bikini sweeming suit. You walk up and down zee beach. You meet girl very qweekly zees way." "Wow! Thanks!" says the Polish guy, and off he goes to the store. He buys a skimpy red bathing suit, puts it on, and goes back to the beach. He parades up and down the beach but still has no luck with the ladies. So he goes back to the Frenchman. Brother Harry, There is still a chance for us to reach high stages even if we had sex in the past. Actually 2 things. First, accumulation of merit. If a person doesn't have enough merit, no matter how hard he tries, it's very difficult to follow a spiritual path without any pitfalls. There are many ways to accumulate merit, and the best one I know is called "Offering to the Hungry Ghosts (feeding the hungry ghosts)" which will be shortly posted here. Second, a proper rule of conduct concerning your sexual energy. Obstinence is required for the jing to be in a proper state to be easily transformed into chi. Any sexual thoughts (not even talking about acts) will spoil the energy to become useless for the empty mind path. If all the conditions are met, it is possible to regain that pure state where you become like a child again.

Sean, we don't need all 3, just .com is enough. .com will have higher rating in Google then the rest. .com can be a portal, and like you said, if we want to buy.net and.org, we will alway have time to do that, but for now it makes no sence. What we need now is to buy a domain and to point it to a server. It's $8.20/year from where I buy it , plus I can make it secure so no one can see who owns it. I think Plato offered to host it on his server, or I can put it on mine. We got to do it and we need to decide who will do it NOW. Either I, Ron Jeremy or someone else.

There is a great saying KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid). Too many forums, too many administrators... Why? Lets make it as easy as possible so we can all enjoy it without this becoming a full time job. Water method and all the other stuff can fall under "Meditation". If you have just 2 forums "Meditation" and "Off-topic", this will solve all the other stuff, like tags, labels, etc. Then 2 moderators for each forum will be enough. For "Meditation" could be Sean or Pietro (or whoever wants to), and for "off-topic" Ron Jeremy.
