have you tried the tendon/muscle changing qigong and the bone/marrow washing qigong. The shaolin monks use it to develop strength for kung fu training. you can find books about it from some popular authors. I treat books like scrolls and take ideas from them then develop my own approach to the qigong.

I thnk that they may appear timid because they are egoless. They see the world as a gift to be recieved. A perfect guest realzes that a gift has more meaning when it is offered out of love than one that you have to ask for. A sage would not let egotistical desire tarnish the destiny a wu wei approach to life allows to manifest naturally. the sage appears to do no work because the universe puts everything he needs along his path. The great businessmen inherit money. great sages inherit the universe. this reminds me of something jesus said. blessed are the meek for they will inherit the earth.

I like this. Life and death on a cosmic level is the same as breathing in and out or waking up and going to sleep. The way it makes sense to me is that,I am a spiritual being who is inhabiting and guiding a physical body through a lifetime. death is simply the end of one adventure preceding another, and i am traveler along the way.

ok so if you were to give a defnition for nirvana what would it be. Im also wondering what the 4 brahmaviharas are. Is there some sort of progression of realizations leading up to nirvana. Im not to familiar with buddhism. also i like the quote susan.

because if we love ourselves then we wont need to play our ego-games to obscure our true self. Then we become in alignment with our spirits, this is called finding your center.

i once met a man who realized the union of the form and formless. I having always thought that the path to enlightenment lay in emptiness alone was forced to re examine my worldview when i became friends with him. he could always tell when i was having trouble and turned me onto several herbal remedies, and gave me some good advice on how to handle situations in my life. He was so intuitive that there was no trace of religion or philosophy about him. He had many friends, helped people all the time, was not materialistic, and seemed to be one step ahead of everyone in the zen game. I never quite understood why i couldn't quite grasp reality on his level until my k opened up.

I think that the developments in the past century are pointing towards the sun setting upon the current age. heres some evidence 1) ancient mayan predictions of the end of an age next year. 2) resurrection of european pagan spirituality within the past century. 3) The recent pioneering in lysergic acid based technology has brought the psychedelic experience to the masses. Shamans and goddess worshipers have been using naturally occuring lysergic acid alkoloids (morning glory seeds and ergot fungus) to induce mystical experience for ages. I was listening to Terrence Mckenna and he mentioned that more people were reporting divine mystical experience of the goddess than 40 years ago. I always felt a connection between mary and the moon goddess. I attended a southern baptist church in small town, usa when i was very young. There was a catholic church across the street. The church had always taught me that catholics were evil because the worshiped mother mary. I secretly being an acolyte of the moon goddess always found something sacred and mystical about the mother mary statue across the street. On one particular cloudy day she looked so beautiful that i stopped and took a picture with my phone.

I think manstream christianity uses scare tactics to unbalance people who would otherwise develop into loving and accepting spiritual people naturally. I personally think that is crippling the spiritual potential of western society. Alas, i long for the days when we all followed the moon.

I second mythmakers advice. Most taoist internal alchemy practices are passed on through the three internal martial arts: tai chi chuan, xingi, and bagua. Also try looking for qigong classes in your area. Zen meditation sounds great. Zen is a school of buddhism- mixed with taoism. It was born in the shaolin temple in china as cha'n.

I want to apologize for any negative vibes i gave off earlier today. It was early in the morning and i was probably a little cranky. Susan and Santi are both my teachers and great people so i think i overreacted because of someone talking trash about them. Im going to edit my earler post to be less offensive. In keeping with the spirit of this thread, my advice to everyone including myself is: Make love not war.
