the basic theory of manifestation and how it relates to taoism as far as i can tell is as follows: Taoist creation theory first there was nothing (void, creative force) then there was the one thing (love, tao, consciousness, creative force with form) the one thing split into the two things (polarized into the yin and yang chi or energy) the two things split into the 10000 things (entire universe is made up of the interplay of opposites or yin and yang energy) taoists usually have a holistic (everything is one thing, oneness with the universe) view of the universe (man is a microcosm of the universe). there is also the principle that life mirrors you (called vibration in new age manifestation) example:if someone interrupts my meditation it is usually because my mind was wandering unchecked. this means that if you can change a part in the macrocosm the microcosm will follow, or likewise if you can change a part in the microcosm the macrocosm will follow. most people spend their entire lives trying to change the macrocosm so that the microcosm will follow (environmental movement, charity, attending church). manifestation takes the opposite approach: changing the microcosm (self) so that the macrocosm(universe) will follow. this is expressed in the taoist concept of action through inaction, or the idea that the greatest thing a man can do to help others is to improve himself. the macrocosm is smaller so it is easier to make changes to (turning on a light by flipping a switch instead of building a fire, leverage in martial arts instead of brute force) "Find it hard to believe in something which guarantees something without any work involved from your part. Taken from the most esoteric teaching on this planet "god helps those who help themselves" " the trick is to work smarter not harder.

thanks for the info i dont think taoism is about eliminating desire. i think its about eliminating attachment. desire moves forward. attachment gets dragged forward kicking and screaming. desire is what makes taoism work in my opinion.

the key to entering hypnosis is to enter a trance. trance uses theta brain waves, associated with heightened visualization, dream states, and shamanic voyages, and deep meditation. the trance can be useful for connecting with the unconscious. it usually speaks in symbolic language though.

unlike you i have not studied nlp. i just knew the basic theory and an example of the practice and it sounded exactly like a practice that i use that i just made up. the practice is to take some thing and ask questions (why was the question i used almost all the time) relentlessly until you have made an unconscious pattern conscious. sometimes the answer would come immediately, sometimes it would come hours later. remembering is a good word. ive used this to dissolve complexes and neuroses. i have also used this to understand the nature of the physical universe. to describe it as memory never occured to me before, but it definitely fits. judging by this conversation our practices in this area are very similar. how did you learn yours.

What Does Yin Energy Feel Like? How Do You Cultivate it?
phore replied to mwight's topic in General Discussion
i believe that running the microcosmic orbit backwards runs yin energy. you could also absorb energy from the earth, it is yin. try imagining roots running deep into the earth and energy flowing upward into you kunlun is a yin practice -
you use the questions in nlp to make unconscious patterns conscious. thats what i meant by viewing the patterns. basically the questions guide your conscious into deeper parts of your mind that you were not paying attention to. once you are conscious of the root of the problem you can change it i believe we are both trying to say the same thing im inclined to say that love ,consciousness, and the tao are all the same thing. but i would love to hear your answer

nlp supposes that thoughts and forms of comunication come from subconcious patterns. nlp asks questions and allows you to view the patterns. when you can view these patterns you can identify erroneous ones. these erroneous patterns are usually called neurosis by psychlogists, and illusions by buddhists. when you can view these patterns you can change them. the reason most people cant change themselves is because they attack the manifestation of the neurosis instead of the neurosis itself. it is like trying to kill a weed by attacking the surface of the weed. you must pluck up the roots of the weed for any real change to occur. any erroneous pattern is one that is based in fear. love dissolves fear. true love conquers all.

ive been practicing level 1 every day for past 5&1/2 months i can now heal minor illnesses (cured chronic allergies and knocked out some colds when i noticed them starting) in my body, and seem to lighten some things on others (based on the one time i tried this someones shoulder stopped hurting) as for energy i experience shaking every time i practice kunlun. also when i practice other meditations i experience shaking now. it is particularly intense in standing stakes (it looks something like the people from the movie trailor). recently i experienced speaking in tongues and it has happened a frequently since then. ive also dissolved a lot of blockages both energetic and psychological (there not lyin when they say you probably even feel like the same person who started this a few months ago. ive also noticed some suprising increases in my ability to do energy meditations and practices, and my ability to manifest things. had some great insights into the nature of the universe. i also opened up to love and compassion. cant wait to start level 2 in 2 weeks

nlp=neuro linguistic progremming (for anyone who didnt know) When most people are talking about this they are speaking of people who use nlp to manipulate others into doing what they want. basically they are focusing on the shadow side of nlp. just as an example: people would use this to trick people into buying expensive things that they dont need. im sure there isnt a single person here who has a problem with the way you use it. its basically the difference between brainwashing and self hypnosis.

thank you for all of the replys i personally have seen many new age magic books, and have known many people who practice this kind of magic i am also familiar with the law of attraction. Most people practice this stuff because its popular. Ive never met anyone else who i honestly believe knows the secret of magic (in real life ive met a few on the internet). the secret is love. all of the rituals, symbols, spells, and affirmations in the world are powerless without it. With love the external form of magic becomes unimportant. there are only two emotions in the universe: love and fear. all other emotions are based in either love and fear. The way to overcome fear is simple: fill yourself with love. just be in awe, be thankful for the entire universe, even the deepest fear has no power when exposed to this. once you have transformed your inner world, the outer world will follow. if you want something specific you can just fill yourself with love then ask for it and be thankful for it as if it were already there. then once you have asked express your gratitude then let it go. It will manifest. if you want an example of this kind of love watch: ah! my goddess and pay attention to belldandy. jesus works well too. for a taoist practice: smile peace

i tried to attune myself to the energy from it last night after the energy seemed to be coming in i felt like i should visualize the story of the abduction of persephone by hades. i got to the part where she was sitting on the throne by hades (still depressed about being kidnapped) Then i just blacked out for a while. When i woke up i felt energized and free. then came here and read your post this morning. seems to be some similarities. ty for the info

hi i have been practicing kunlun for 4 months by myself and have had good results (shaking and stuff) i have started practicing aikido recently so i am learning how to use the unbendable arm and things like that i have read "the taichi classics" so i know the way to convert chi to internal power is by using condensing breathing. (breathing chi into the bones) then causing it to vibrate rapidly. i know that max practices ba gua (which is an internal art like tai chi) i also know that kunlun energy isnt chi (feel free to correct me if i am wrong about anything) So my questions are how do i use kunlun energy in martial arts like aikido. should i just try projecting it like chi is there a technique to convert kunlun energy into internal power like condensing breathing and vibrating it also i was thinking of practicing ken kohens 1 finger zen healing qigong. would i be able to use this with kunlun nei gung

The channels in most energy systems overlapse. in tantra they are interested in raising the kundalini energy up from the root of the spine through the chakras and into the brain. The taoist microcosmic orbit raises the energy up the spine into the brain and down the front of the body. (touch the tongue to the palate on the roof of the mouth to complete the orbit) the chakras are just points on the spinal channel. most chakra systems include 7 chakras. The root, sacral, solar plexus, heart, throat, third eye, and the crown. Chakra means energy center. The heart chakra is usually associated with emotions, love and compassion. so it being open would mean that you possess those qualities. as for the guardian spirit, you could try praying to it. kung fu is a zen martial art and would probably have more in common with taoism than traditional buddhist tantra. You should ask your teacher he would probably be able to help you in your taoist practice. tony

hey im tony i became a taoist when i was 15 im 18 now i practiced glen morris's hoshin tao chi kung and mantak chias microcosmic orbit for a while i also have experience in some other stuff like tachyon and kundalini reiki, now i practice kunlun bliss. im 4 months into the level 1 practice. i haven't attended a seminar but i attune myself to the energy using the technique i learned from reiki (just pray to your higher self to attune you to the energy it usually lasts about 30 min. its not as strong as an attunement from a master but you can do it up to 2-3 times a day and it gets stronger. you can do it with any energy) i started practicing aikido recently im also trying to learn Japanese (completely irrelevant to taoism)
