Just be yourself. Isn't that a spiritual job?

I think that a good portion of those who come to this community, stay, and succeed, have done so because they are unable to find satisfaction anywhere else. That does not make them better people. One could just as easily feel sorry for them. Dude...if you want a girlfriend, stop whining, forget about subliminating your jing through the lotus posture, and just sign up for a dance class. And if you aren't even willing to do this, then forget about mastering the Dao, because you ain't got what it takes. P.S. Eat a steak.

Confusion about the location of dan tian
Martial Development replied to Non's topic in General Discussion
The real question is, if you initially miss the "real dantian point" by 1-2 inches, whether that makes any difference at all. And the answer is... -
Benefits of the Inversion Table
Martial Development replied to Encephalon's topic in General Discussion
I do inverted inversions on a chin-up bar, and it is quite helpful. Even more than that, I recommend "lateral inverted inversions" by lying backwards on a regular exercise ball, which can be had for the modest price of thirty dollars. Also works as an office chair. -
Little1, Neikung, houtian, Gamuret, and r.w.smith - the same person?

I am Spartacus! -
I wouldn't worry about it, there aren't any expert hackers on here, only n00bs. My IP address is 127.0.0.1--so am I supposed to be afraid now?

By that standard, since you've failed to answer my direct questions, your presence on this forum is fruitless. He claims knowledge regarding secret soldiering programs, and so do you. He is selling his story, and so are you--it just so happens yours is cheaper. In fact, you've giving it away for free here, and yet nobody seems to want it.

I love to learn, so please educate me. Tell me about all the things you've never done, and never seen. Let me know all the things that don't exist, so that next time they appear, I can ask them to go away.

Reversing the traditional teaching methods?
Martial Development replied to Taiji Bum's topic in General Discussion
I think either method could work, but the "traditional" method will eliminate the lower-quality students immediately, whereas your model will keep them around to waste a few months of your time. On top of that, if someone hasn't demonstrated a basic level of coordination (e.g. in the hand form), I don't necessarily want them swinging a sword around in my vicinity! If you are only after sparring partners, why not attend or host an "open mat" session? This would allow you to demonstrate the skills your method offers, without compromising your class structure. (This is not to say that all change is bad, or that what we might consider "traditional structure" is both genuine and for the best.) In my experience, even young men are willing to endure the initially boring aspects of CMA practice (bad students notwithstanding), so long as they have a clear picture of where that training leads, and of their steady progress towards that end. It's all about perception. -

If you ask nicely, I'll post an interview with one of the alleged participants in this project. But I assumed that everyone on this board already knew...stranger things have been known to happen.
-
Maybe. But if they never actually dropped the project...then they would tell you they dropped the project.

SOme phrases I want your opinion on?
Martial Development replied to mewtwo's topic in General Discussion
One hundred dollars is a very cheap seminar. I rather think the biggest idiot is the one who refuses to learn from his seniors. -
Tai Chi Sword Lesson #1 by Me
Martial Development replied to Taiji Bum's topic in General Discussion
The movement of the tassel actually illustrates the movement of the blade to which it is attached. It your tassel is always in the way, that shows you do not have good control of your weapon, i.e. of both ends. Important? Maybe, maybe not. As I'm sure the Iaido folks can testify, working with a live blade will do wonders for your focus and concentration. Not for your health though. -
The men who stare at goats a comedy?
Martial Development replied to mewtwo's topic in General Discussion
Since people are inevitably going to laugh, better to claim that was the goal. -
The Flu Case

I have been known to drink a pot of Chai while writing an essay. Not a teapot--a stewpot.

Tea is a good substitute. The right qigong is even better.

Swine Flu May Cause 90,000 U.S. Deaths, Report Says

Just found this, not sure whether to take it seriously or not. http://swineflu.baywords.com/ -
Heard good things about the Waterwise 4000, but haven't tried it myself. The MegaHome version looks almost identical, at half the price.

US Health Care - Propose a solution in accord with Tao
Martial Development replied to Ya Mu's topic in General Discussion
Anyone can state obscurant facts and then decry an alleged crisis. If you want to have a serious discussion, please start with a straightforward definition of the problem. "The problem is _____________________." One cannot hope to solve a problem they don't understand. -
US Health Care - Propose a solution in accord with Tao
Martial Development replied to Ya Mu's topic in General Discussion
Solution? You haven't yet defined the problem. In the meantime, here are a few questions to ponder... * Who is responsible for your health? (Yourself, or someone else?) * Should health be mandatory, and sickness illegal? (If so, then how should the government punish the sick?) * Is "health insurance" the same thing as "health care"? * Is "health care" the same thing as health? After you've identified the problem, then clarify: whose problem is it exactly? -
What challenges would be involved in bring Western students into contact with authentic Daoist teachers?
Martial Development replied to Stigweard's topic in General Discussion
In the East, the teachers expect to be flattered. In the West, the students expect to be flattered. -
Wing chun/Chi cultivation. Danger?
Martial Development replied to NeiChuan's topic in General Discussion
Many of the "accidental" injuries in martial arts training are intentional. If you don't really care what happens, then you will have these "accidents" now and again. If on the other hand you do not want to injure your training partner, and you refuse to do so, then I think there is little to worry about, vis a vis "chi cultivation" or anything else. -
Agape, You were raised to call your own mother a bitch? Lucky for you she is indifferent.
