Ritualistic Magic? Whats the point?
Seth Ananda replied to RiverSnake's topic in Esoteric and Occult Discussion
I Like what Melanie said. I personally still love Ritual Magick and probably always will. For me the interaction with symbol systems, Gods, Demons and so on, is literally one of the most fulfilling practices I have ever come across. It penetrates my mind and unconscious, bringing it alive, and then echoing through circumstances in the physical world. I get such joy from this. At times it helps me get stuff I 'need', but I have less interest in this aspect of ritual, than in modulating my being and character. Interacting with beings, dusts off psychic senses, and can help develop the ability to see the other areas of existence that we inhabit. This is part of 'Knowing Oneself' in my book. Magick can bring on the lived realisation and experience of 'connectedness' very very fast. To me this is valuable, to others maybe not. Every ritual done, has a side effect like release of energy from the depths, {sometimes referred to as the Dragons Breath} that increases inspiration, energy levels and libido, synchronicity and quality of life. Even more so, it creates the sense that one is really living in a Magickal Universe. Good enough for me! -
I dont think Science can explain heat generated from Qi Meditation
Seth Ananda replied to shaq786's topic in General Discussion
Chi Dragon, One ejaculation does Indeed throw me back weeks, but when practising consistently I will still have quite high energy levels. I am not just talking about LDT heat here This is immediately observable in meditation and in a certain level of chi, that I at least cant reach without total retention. But you would have to practice semen retention yourself to know if this is true, and be lasting a minimum of 3 months at a time without ejaculation, and be actively meditating to see for your self. there are certain very subtle energies that ejaculation is the death of. -

Chi Dragon. Of course warmth is generated by contracting muscles, as I warm up when doing weights or yoga or exersize, but that in no way counts for the 'full on' levels of heat generated in the LDT specifically and the general strength of the heat. Here are my key points. 1.) When I do LDT meditation I am very very relaxed. It may be lying down, or sitting, and I prefer Lotus for comfort, and for energy benefits. 2.) The level heat & energy generated is dependent on conditions. The primary condition is -how much have i been practicing? If I have been doing an hour a day every day, then when I sit down its like instantly igniting a furnace {also when I am keeping that level of practice up, my LDT is always warm - even when I am sleeping }. If i haven't been practising, then It will take some days or more, of consistent practicing to get to that point. Another condition is am I focusing on my LDT? I sit in lotus while I watch movies sometimes, but it does not turn the heat on anywhere near the levels off adding concentration to the mix. The other really important Condition is, Have I ejaculated recently? this is massive, especially out side of consistent practice. There is a level of energetic power that I just cant reach when I have recently spilled the beans - Although I would like to add that, consistent daily practice makes up for a lot, and one can still develop lots of energy by consistent practice, even with 'seepage' although total retention just adds a whole new level to the equation. I can be on such a role with my practice and one accidental ejaculation throws me back weeks. Tense muscles can in no way count for these drastic changes in heat levels. 3.) When all the conditions are right, and my chi is really moving through my leg channels, I can sit in Lotus for many hours without even the slightest tensions arising, and do not even need to shake out my joints afterwards. I can just stand up and walk. There is not the slightest restriction of blood, or joint pressure, and my feet will be warm and happy. -

Sorry ChiDragon, but that is just not true for me. My legs are not contracted in lotus position, as I have worked on opening the hips so it doesn't feel forced. I know that when I began lotus a long time ago, it was very tight, and my legs would start to tense up in response, but that does just not happen anymore. And Full Lotus is still the LDT heat extraordinare position for me. -

I have the same effect from LDT meditation, and sat for several hours in a freezing hail storm, wearing only shorts and a teeshirt In my warm toasty chi bubble. And when generating such heat, I have had friends put there hands near me who described it like a low setting hair dryer pointed at their hands... I too wonder about how they would explain it, but I don't really care that much... The benefits are obvious enough without their validation. -
Thats great Anamatva! I wouldn't read 'much' there myself but each to their own. And after saying that, I do think Jack Cornfields 'A path with a Heart' has gold in it for the serious stuff that can come up in retreat.... Great Blessings.

Its not what goes into the mouth that currupts the spirit
Seth Ananda replied to Melanie's topic in General Discussion
I might add that the eating vegetables = killing, is a stupid and un thought through argument, used by meat eaters who don't wish to seriously examine their eating habits. Flippancy around issues of life and death is of poor character. Vegetables, Fruit and so on, spread best by being eaten, so that their seeds get defecated out somewhere and get to use that warm poo to help kick start their new growth wherever they land. They have evolved to be sweet, so that they will be attractive to most creatures, who will eat them and thus help them propagate further... They 'want' to be eaten! -

Eat what you eat obviously, but it takes bravery to examine 'whether' you should or not and to examine what excuse systems you live by, and whether they have much logic to them. Its very easy to espouse philosophies saying "you have the 'Right' to eat what you want" Really? do Humans have 'rights' over animals? Did The animal, as it was being killed, feel that the Humans had a 'right' to kill it against its will? Also question people telling you that "You don't have to feel bad about your choice to eat meat" Really? They may be right, but what is it based on? To become an ethical society, we have to review all these assumptions in great detail. A lot of people use very shallow justification systems for the various parts of their lifestyles, but I strongly feel that the old philosophical saying "The unexamined life is not worth living" is very valid. I myself grew up hunting, so I have killed and eaten many animals, and I have also got to eat some Human in a rare situation, But I prefer vegetarianism in general. [i am not saying its better, but that all the issues around it should be examined, and I strongly believe that meat eaters should have to kill their food, at least once...] Seth. -
OK, so i just watched the docco 'My reincarnation' about yeshi, who is ChNNR's son. It was very interesting, as is filmed over 20 years, detailing a 'boy to mans' journey of relationship with his father - a well known Dzogchen Master... I am interested to hear anyone's impressions about the docco? I was very Impressed as it showed the humanness of everyone involved, especially of Namkai himself. I know a lot of his students hold him up a very High pedestal, and I am in no way disputing that, but he is also very very human. I think it is great that there are more things like this coming out, that reveal the 'human' side of teachers that start to be Inflated to near mythical proportions... What do you all think?

...hmm placebo! Not to me. In my book a modest person doesn't try to fix someone across a distance - Uninvited, and then tell them all how he 'fixed' them two seconds later... To me that shows a certain degree of arrogance... actually, just looking at the website vid, I am relieved to see he is not calling it an ancient technique. But It looks totally like many of the placebo cures based on Kinesealogy, Theta healing, eft and god knows what else... But I have said my piece, and am happy to leave you all to this thread now...
-
I did not call you stupid, I called this technique stupid, and I object to you trying to 'fix' people without their consent.
-
I feel strongly about people trying to energetically manipulate others, with out their consent. And is it really 'ridiculing' to use my Intelligence to point out that this is a fairly stupid technique, and is new age mumbo jumbo. Do you really believe old shaolin masters sat around saying I have corrected you 100% into negative Infinity? "Oh look you have HIV, don't worry, I corrected you!" Dont take the sting your pride feels at stupidity being pointed out as me actually Insulting you. It is placebo and will never be anything more. It will go down in history as just one more garbage technique that triggered a bunch of placebo cures, and thus created a few true believers, who sat around correcting each other online.

Bit of an over reaction Boy... Serene Blue is awesome, and she asked you good questions, that you failed to answer, and apparently failed to even understand. Then you accuse her of being pathetic, and finally you set your self up as a nonjudgmental non-person authority of some kind... Wow! You really showed her! Welcome to the Taobums!

Compiling info on male sexual health/practices
Seth Ananda replied to konchog uma's topic in General Discussion
make sure you mention that the million dollar point is actually dangerous, and that the whole Idea behind it is faulty, so there is no point doing it anyway... Orgasm with ejaculation, or Orgasm with retained or retrograde ejaculation, is depleting. Ether way one looses ones fluids, straight out into ones partner, or into the bladder {retrograde} to be pissed out later. There is no way around this. -
I just thought of something Brilliant! as I obviously have a weakness to Yuen newage mumbo jumbo technique, and it doesn't seen to require permission to work, why doesn't clarity 'correct' me, so I stop being so negative about all this.... Surely Ill be a believer in no time right?
-
Hmm against consent is against consent. Maybe I should start 'correcting' people with Death Magick...
-
I certainly like him so far... He seems to be very Intelligent and it is weirdly relieving to see a very popular Guru who is as intelligent and thoughtful as he is. He is mobilizing a massive charity movement {from what I can tell} and it sounds like his meditation processes are very strong. What do people think? Anyone met him? Done his workshops?
-
thats not the one, and It must not have been Aaron. I have seen you engage with others here, and one thought it was rather stupid and unwarranted. As I can't be bothered trawling all your previous posts to find it, How about you just tell us who it was, as I am sure you will remember...
-
hmm I believe Twinner/Aaron was one of them... I don't know what thread that was in... and I am not talking about someone asking for help, i am talking about you coming and in with a statement like "I just read your energy around... and you are weak here, so I am fixing you know..." Lol. Which so far does not seem to have worked.
-
If what I have seen of it here correctly encapsulates the practice, then yes. I bet that like Homeopathy, when tested, scores no better than placebo, which really means it is placebo...
-
because he, mid thread claimed "i am reading your energy, and you have a weakness around blah blah, so I am correcting that for you..." In a case or two the person argued, leading to more 'correction' and further faulty diagnosis... And If I remember rightly, when they said they did not feel a thing from all this mumbo jumbo, he got annoyed and told them they must be really energetically screwed up... Oldest trick in the book. When your magical/placebo cure does not work, you point the bone at them instead. {or make it all their fault so that no one focuses on you}
-
He has tried, without asking, to use it on several people on this Forum. So far no one seems to have noticed anything...
-
thanks Lucky7, yes I did get the link. That started my research fest But I still have not spoken to people about their own experiences with him, hence this thread Are the Techniques different or similar to other schools? Any critiques? What is the most awesome thing/s? Thanks. Seth.

The Significance of Free Will in Spirituality and How It Relates to Popular Ideas of No Agent
Seth Ananda replied to Lucky7Strikes's topic in General Discussion
Well it has its wants, desires, and its genetic imperatives... maybe, but maybe not. Say your particular mind stream has been influenced by material that says you should be present as it gives you more options. Maybe as a result, when you get pinched there is a momentary battle over which conditioning - Present awareness vs body reaction - will be the dominant reaction... The scans suggest that the 'choice' part happens well after the action to do it had begun... Really? It may be just which set of impulses are winning in that moment? The Impulse to be present and aware, or some other Impulse... Its not that logical. The brain processes at an incredible speed... Many 'people' [or maybe i should call them 'events'] are exposed to these teachings. Only some have thought streams that are ready for whatever reason, to try to adopt these 'new' ways of perceiving, and some do so successfully. Those then 'seem' to have several options available to them in how they react to their world... Sure it 'feels' like that normally. I won't argue that that is what it 'feels' like. Except in lucid moments where nondoership or Annata is being very clearly seen. Then it feels like there is just a stream of events happening, and there is no you doing any of it... Weird...
