I love them all. Just lately I have found the beyond teachings very useful personally. I am not sure if that really constitutes much [if any] of a bias. I always have liked your posts, but I am wondering..., I know I used to be on your side in the TTB debates vs the Buddhists, trying to make all enlightenment's mean the same thing, but then one day I suddenly left the 'team' because I realized that they are not. Did this hurt your feelings? Are you reading some malicious Intent or agenda into my words because of that? I do not think the Buddhist enlightenment is the only Enlightenment of Value, at all. I do not necessarily believe that Its higher than the others either. This is not an attempt to brain wash people towards Buddhism, but rather an attempt [poor as it may be] to help people understand the processes traditions use to gain the 'goods' so to speak. There are a number of options I have not voiced as yet as to possible flaws in the Buddhist perspective [and other systems], but I wish to write it in an article format. This is also not to negate Buddhism, because its philosophy works, but simply to promote less absolutism. -

That is a scary but true reality. It is nice to see you say Many not all. Unfortunately there are no options to make multi millions change their beliefs, just like that, without a religious cleansing [Mass Murder] which is not a sane option. This to me is why Mysticism is so Important, as It easily leads to more openness, and Love of the world. When people start talking like 'we have to throw out the whole religious system, or we are all dead' then how do you 'Enforce' such a throwing out. This kind of war thinking will only be met by equal resistance and just entrench each side further in the cycle of suffering. That literally will tear the planet apart. Its bordering on Nazism. -
Sorry I realize this may be going off thread! How can OBE's relate to heart mind?
-
How very enigmatic! lol, I am sure there is stuff that is that you could comment on? What about In print Dream Yoga books?

I agree, but doesn't Dzogchen, and other forms of Tibetan Buddhism have teachings on the out of body states? Are they not seen as particularly beneficial for realizing certain truths? If yes could you Inform me further?

It calls it self Buddhist but then disses Buddha, then tries to intergrate in a form of christianity that sounds much like Jehovah's witnesses, then claims Li can not be passed in evolution, then twists every prophesy it can find to make it about Li. Soon they will hand out the cool aid!

Rofl! that's my suspicion as well... I imaging my head exploding, pea soup going everywhere... Blessings! -
Embodiment is Good When I got out I was always in this world, though there were sometimes weird differences. Rising on the Planes style exercises though, never lead me to this world.

um, cult brainwashing? that can be very detrimental. Other than that it [unfortunately] is a very good, but incomplete practice.

That's part of why I am cautious about it being used as a word. And K gets easier over time. It still gives me grief occasionally, like when It wants to clear something in my system. That period I mentioned in my 'No self' thread, where everything [my traumatic memory's] was being pushed up at once, K was in part responsible for. It's like till I was ready to start moving through it, or because the door was tightly closed she always just bypassed it. As soon as the door opened though, she was like Now! Now! Now! process this! we are cleaning your system no matter what! it was like having a newly awakened K again. I had almost forgotten what that can be like. -
I freaked out an enemy by tearing a poster on his wall [of Elvis], knocking over papers and rattling his window pane. He thought his place was haunted. That was when I was 17 and had just left home. I was trying to OBE every night and had occasional successes. I sometimes wish I could maintain discipline with astral practice {not for shenanigans like that}, as that is the only way I get any success. It does not normally come easy to me. These days also, when I get to vibration state and feel like I am starting to seperate, my heart speeds up alot. This never used to happen. Got any Tips?

lol. there are a variety of these experiences funnily enough. Sometimes when Kundalini reaches my crown, {how to say it?} the sense of Seth [as a person] dissolves into a radiant blissful light that 'is' everything. My body, my thoughts, awareness and perceiving itself, my chair, the fence, the sky, energy, other people and everything, and there is a sense of it all as One shining luminous Awareness my last few experiences of this have had less of the 'self' sense that It used to have for me. That is probably because of my recent journey. But either way it is an amazing experience. A note to make is that these experiences are still 'local' to the body region. Then there are the 'rarer' more cosmic type of experiences that 'seem' to be beyond my body and are harder again to describe. They often involve merging Into light completely, the world disappears, and there is a sense of Omniscience. Now I like to be very careful with that word. I know that scriptures are happy to through that word around describing the states but I am not. If someone gave me some ridiculous maths equation [assuming I could remember that question while in that state lol] i do not know if It would know that answer. What I do know is that the light 'feels' Massively intelligent, like it is the orchestrating element that holds everything together and Knows all things. I can not have this experience without returning with far deeper insight into any number of Issues, or relationships or just other people around me. I believe saints like Neem Karoli possibly live most of their existence in this kind of state. He 'seemed' to know everything about his students, at least most of the time. He could talk to people about things that someone said to them on a play ground when they were 8, or tell people how their parents died. I still like to be careful with the concept. i do not know if it is 'really' omniscient, like could i know what everyone had for breakfast at once? I doubt it. But again, maybe it allows a kind of local omniscience? Also I have never spent very long in this state, unlike the first one I mentioned. -
Ok, but did you not say that you were bullied into that perspective? That is not really seeing it, even if your words comply... [edit]: Ok I just finished your thread there. I have to say I admire your honesty, it looks like you were really trying but [to me] it seems like you did not get it. That is fine. Maybe the format there is not right for you? You can get it in other ways if you want.

Thanks I also Got a lot out of Demello. My Jesuit friend put me on to him originally. I have never heard about him being banned though. Dodgy! lol funny church. The last pope did sweat lodge ceremonys with Indians and got declared a pipe holder, and told Aboriginals here in Aus to resist Christianization and hang on to their own traditions. How weird is that? Then consider his stance on women priests, contraception... I guess he was opening his mind in the ways he was ready to... Sad that Sex Issues are so big for so many people. -

I personally disagree. It is a categorizing system not a ranking system. all the experiences had within the different perspectives are 'Real' on an experiential level, and may be deeply tied to the filters we have. For me there are elements of value in all of them. -

Tantra {indian} is a Monotheistic path, one that is deeply respectful towards the Natural world. Many of the great mystics in monotheistic traditions were Nature lovers. Any religion with a set of teachings about the 'Immanent' God/divinity is potentially very good for the ecology movement. -

?!? Did you read the part where I said I feel no particular Bias towards any the 3? I actually really like all 3. I am a great fan of many traditions. I was hoping if anything that it would help remove the 'my path is better than yours' thing. It is in no way meant to say that 3 'Beyond' is higher than 2 or 1. I possibly should have made that clearer. If anything, concerning the Buddhists, I wanted to show a way that Buddhist Ideas can be practiced along side ideas from other traditions. The Interfaith thing is strongly affected by comparative philosophy, and so far still has trouble figuring out how to add Buddhism with out reducing it to an eternalist philosophy, which isn't fair to Buddhists. -

You must have missed it so here it is again: This Interpretation makes no sense. I am not a scholar but I have a loose grasp of some Sanskrit. Gate is interpreted as 'to go' or 'gone' and it says this twice in a row. That means 'gone, gone,' or 'to go, to go' if you prefer. then it introduces the word Para to the next Gate. Para means a variety of things along the lines of, greater, supreme, higher, or beyond... depending on the translations. So now we have, 'Gone, gone, greater/higher/supreme/beyond gone, {your choice} Then It introduces 'Sum' to the previous line. I am not sure exactly what sum means, but there is no way at all you can get your translation out of this. Bodhi would often mean an awakened being and Svaha is always Praise or Hail! So generally as it reads it is translated to: Gone, gone, gone beyond, gone beyond the beyond, hail to the awakened ones! There it is as logical as 1 + 1 = 2. Gate Gate is two words saying {meaning} the same thing. So your 'to go, to come' is actually linguistically Impossible. A totally flawed translation. -

funny as my friend. You keep riding that horse. I don't think you have a clue what you are actually talking about half the time. You Ignore being called on your BS. I pointed out the fatal errors in your lame Interpretation of the Gate mantra. Did you comment? No you just posted some long boring self righteous posts about other stuff. I pointed out the hilarious and obviously false absolutism in your statements, and because I am right, you ignored them as well. And posted more blah blah. I can see that you are the kind of person who will stick to their {misguided} guns no matter what, and will do almost anything to be right, Including completely Ignoring it when others show you that you are wrong. That is a terrible affliction my friend, False pride, egotism and misguided certainty. Its even sadder that you accuse others of being Dishonest [like Christians] yet your own conversations are full of your own Dishonesty. Blessings and may you find a path out of delusion. -

That's why I feel that promoting the Mysticism that is at the core of each tradition is very Important. They have so much in common with each other, that its hard from that perspective to be denigrating of the other traditions. There are so many wonderful dialogues between Christian monks, Sufi's, Zen abbots, Yogi's and Rabbi's that are happening now because of the deep similarities within their [mystical] paths. They sometimes report being nervous before the gatherings due to seeming differences, but are amazed by the 'feel' of fellow spiritual Brothers and Sisters, and In general feel greatly enriched by meeting other traditions. That is leading to good things in my book. I used to be friends with a Jesuit Priest, who was given a seven year paid sabbatical to study eastern religions, and to look for ways to reinvigorate the Catholic faith with Wisdoms from other traditions. He lived in India and Nepal mostly for that period studying with Yogi's and Buddhists. He spent time with Bede Griffith, lived at Auraville, studied with the Himalaya Institute, and spent a bunch of time with the Gelugpa's. How cool is that? Is that not a christian interest in interfaith? -

Wow you really showed all those Christians and Muslims and Theists who host or attend Interfaith events! No, what you really showed is that you are not Interested in Interfaith, because you are close minded and Intolerant. The absolutism of your statements is very funny. How do I Interpret them? Is that every single Muslim? Is Christianity out of the picture 100% of the time every time? Can you see how ridiculous the absolutism in your sentences makes you sound? Now many of your quotes are good reflections towards the negative aspects of exoteric religion, but you really have no Idea about what Internal processes a Mystic is going through, or what degree of Honesty they hold themselves too. Currently you are just a hateful Bigot, and you are just as bad as those you criticize. Fortunately you still have time to change and maybe gain some of that wisdom you seem to believe you posses in bucket loads. Blessings on your path -
