  2. Dangers of Meditation

Everything you just said takes place within Awareness - The Self! - or you would have Zero way to describe it, experience it or have even the tiny most minuscule inkling of it.
  3. Dangers of Meditation

Sorry, Many of the schools saw Brahma as a persona but equally, many do not. In Kashmir Shavism for Instance Parama-Shiva is supreme Consciousness and that is it. Sometimes deliberatly flowery language is used to Imagine it as Shiva the blue dude, but In general Parama Shiva Is not a Person. And I say It is impossible to Realise further than Consciousness, as Consciousness is prior to every conception and thought you have. There is no way out of this argument because to anything you say I will ask - How do you know? are you conscious of it? If we can Find no boundary to Awareness, no Quality, No texture, and It contains every thought and sensory experience, and cant be divided... How is it then Not the ground of Being? If the only certain thing in ourselves we can find is that we are Aware, and that Doesn't change, - (Point to an experience you have had that you were not aware of?) - And that is the same thing in common with everyone, then How Is It attachment to an Idea? It just is. And the Ridiculous Logic of saying "if you realise your sense of Self to be Awareness It self, Its not really your awareness but some God Persona!" thats just stupid. Stupid yes! When we become Intimate with our Self we just Know It is our Self, without words, as it is the core of our Being. It is what is aware in us. It is not some God Persona, or we would not be aware 'from' it. The God persona would be aware 'from' it, not us. Maybe your Awareness of Life is Really 'Brahma the person' but that means there is no Vajra, Ohh wait a minute that's what you have been telling us all along...
  4. Dangers of Meditation

Right, Some young upstart rich kid would know... He would not have even heard of Liberation If not for those that went before him (Hindu's), and so he sets out, Finds an extreme sect, Does a mere 6 years of practice before giving up cause he nearly starved to death, then Claim's that he is the first One to really get It and that those before him were Just Deluded and lost In Samsara. Such Ego could only come from Royalty... So Basicly because he was not able to succeed where Many before him did, He Denies the existence of the Underlying Nature of Existence and comes up with the ridiculous concept of endless cycles of Interdependent nothing. He even makes up Stories about Brahma (which is not a person...) visiting him and telling him to teach.
  5. Human race 'will be extinct within 100 years'

lol i have explained this to them...
  6. Shaktipat

Weird, I just read over the thread and cant see any animosity from V's side? just 3bob's. And I am sure I have read the words Dick and Pussy many times here in other threads...
  7. Human race 'will be extinct within 100 years'

Respek! God I can't wait to be past that date, so I can collect on all the bets I have made that there will be no Global Spiritual experience or Cataclysm, Leaving us Enlightened Telepath's or just extinct.
  8. Stilling the mind

Thanks Vajra now all the Blah blah starts again... Really Boring... Go drink some more beer. Many real Buddhists Including the Dalai Lama have said that they believe that their enlightenment is the same as other traditions, just described with a different set of conceptualisations. Non Conceptual Realisation is Non Conceptual! If you are out side concepts your out side concepts! Wow did I just repeat myself twice? twice?
  9. Contemplating Veganism Any Advice

You can be a Very healthy vegan but it takes a lot of work (at first till you get in the swing of it) First B12 supplements = essential for any Vegan as this is the one thing the diet misses. (even though it is present in many vegan foods it is usually fairly unabsorbable) Second, Seaweed! Third, Nuts and seeds. Learn to sprinkle them on everything, yes even on your Lady! Fourth, Tempeh - Its warming, and delicious. Many vegan foods are cooling: green vegetables, tofu and many grains. Fifth. Take notice of how what you eat makes you feel... Keep a food Diary. Do you need more cooling or warming foods or in between? Eat accordingly. Good Luck Guys I may be joining you there one day... IMO Milk products are just shit to turn a human into a Mucus Factory. I grew up hunting as well and even though i loved going hunting, when ever I actually had to kill the animal it just felt wrong on some deep level. This bugs me to this day.
  10. I am looking forward to hearing if they did any studies on his eye's, during this period. He has mentioned sun gazing as part of his practice, which is fascinating to me as when I did an extensive Fast, I found that I could stare for hours directly at the Sun. I really would like to know how the eyes undergo a change like that... -Please know that the Sun staring happened naturally with zero force or effort involved. If you think you can 'Make' it happen you will go blind. Also Lucas was Inspired by Aikido's founder and based much of his Jedi code on its principles... And take it easy fizix, that was quite an over the top reaction to a simple statement...

    What He Said
  12. Shaktipat

I probably should not say this as I like to try to be open minded and respectful as much as possible, but here goes - "Marshal Govindan is a Flog" Seriously though, the man is considered a joke in the Kriya community, I also have met people who (usually the Ascended Master crowd) studied with him and all felt ripped off, or felt that he seriously lacked Integrity...
  13. Keep memories after death?

Ahh yes, Dr Ian stevenson... thanks CowTao That might be an Inner meaning (don't know, not my tradition), but there is still plenty of Stuff in the Bardo Thodal, on what supposedly happens to you after death, and I have heard many Lama's give Talks (one being Lama Yeshe's successor) on how terrified lost and confused you will be and the Hell realms or hungry ghost or animal realm you will get dragged into once dead, if you don't... Pure Fear manipulation and nothing like what people actually experience... Sloppy Zhang, I didn't mention the mild cultural conditioning that is often apparent in the early stage of NDE. along with meeting dead Family members, people often meet Religious figures figures from their tradition, such as Jesus, saints, Mohammed bodhisattva's, and so on. The other thing many people experience is the Being eventually dissolving its 'Jesus' appearance and just remaining the Loving Warm presence that 'Jesus' or whoever represented for them. Dr Ian's research has 6 year old African kids living in tribal shamanistic culture right through to Christian monks, Hindu's, atheists, from many different country's and different demographics, and the underlying structure is pretty much the same. I have read a number of books that just compile peoples NDE's and they are all pretty much the same underneath - Except for the people who for some reason avoid the tunnel of Light- thats when it often starts to get weird, or Nasty... I have read of some people who are so Negative that they find the light painful or even terrifying and run from it. I guess that may be an example of extreme attachment and fear of change holding you back? Love and Blessings!
  14. Keep memories after death?

I hate to drag 'anecdotal experience' into a subject like this But havent many of you had experience with the dead? They seem to retain a great deal of their Memory, some for a long time... Or were all the Shamanic cultures and every Culture that practiced ancestor worship just Deluded Natives? I 'Know' that my Dad and my Nanna still drop in sometimes, But I haven't seen Gramps in a while. What about the spate of near Death research? Someone else may be able to tell me as I can't remember right now, but one of the popular NDE books is by a doctor. This man was given the Job of compiling a Data collection system for some rare disease so people in any country with any language could put in Details about symptoms, experiences, anything that might help find out more Info on the subject. Also any discharged patients who had submitted Info would be sent out 6? monthly review's so they could add any other details. (for the next few years) after he finished he thought the program would also be good to collect Data on NDE's. So he sent it out to hundreds of Hospitals and years Later he had thousands of patients NDE's, from all different traditions, country's, belief's and age category's, some as young as 6. He was shocked to discover such a similar range of experience, in round 98% of cases following, exact details... Tunnel of Light, Dead Family members and/or Spiritual guides or teachers, ( there were a number of people who had family waiting who they had never met or seen, then like a year later they Inherit a photo from some weird uncle or some how end up with a rare pic of that relative and lo and behold is the exact person they met.) Life review of things learned and obstacles that needed more work... 360 degree vision and an ability to just comprehend with ones Being... After this was over, patients often reported back a Major positive change in the Psyche, and complete redefining of Lifes value systems, towards Love and relating and service. One of the cool things about this researcher is that he was an Athiest, but began to think that Life after Death should be considered a scientific Fact. His key points (that I remember) were, -Its Testable - Over and over again people will have and experience the same things when having this experience. -Patients consistently have vivid accurate perceptions of events in surgery room, (pre tunnel of light) even while being clinically brain dead for several minuits - In some cases the patients Brain has been hooked up to very sophisticated equipment and it has said -Brain Dead! Zero activity! Dead you hear me! so any form of perception should be Impossible. -Its different to dreams and Hallucinations, which it often gets dumped in with. In dreams and hallucinations one may see any number of beings some of which will be living people that you know, and much content may be Nonsensical. This never Happens in NDE's. No one ever meets beings that are not already dead. And its not a weird land of psychological strangeness (after tunnel of light stage), Its A Highly coherent space of consciousness and Deep understanding... That's all I remember for Now, But it seems to me that this may be the first time In History that Humanity has been able to really study NDE out side of cultural and religious Dogma. This seems very Important to me. It could be what helps us to get a clear understanding Of what Spiritual reality is actually like. Remember- religions want to control the way you see Life after Death. If the church has you thinking An angry god or hell is waiting if you dare to challenge its authority, its likely you will be a 'Good' boy or girl and will Support the church for guaranteeing you a pass through the pearly Gates. And if the Monastery has you thinking that if you do not meditate half your life, you are going straight to confusion, lost in the bardo's, then just getting recycled like some old garbage, Then you will probably also Tow the Line and support the Lamas. All the post tunnel of light experiences (recorded by this Doctor's program) experience A Deeply Compassionate, Fully Loving benevolent presence, That Loves and cherishes them, Understands the Basis of every decision they ever made and does not judge them for it, and often sends them back with a Total Knowing of their purpose for being here, which allows them to live with a renewed sense of meaning and fulfilment. (which the Lamas try to strip from us by saying we do not have a Self) On a Side note, I think it may be possible for a rigid belief system not based on universal experience, Like the Bardo's, to be used and experienced by profound meditators as a tool to try and achieve whatever it is they are trying to achieve. I think it is probably always possible for ones consciousness to exert it's structures over reality, and a life time of Imagining it in a certain way, and doing countless practices, and spending a lot of your time with others who do and support the same view. That must have a powerful magic to it. Its probably a great way to make sure you reincarnate just down the street if you want to be a monk again.

  16. An article about America

Hi Mickaelz, I am not saying that they are putting symptoms of Psychosis out side the pathology basket, not at all. Its just that If you go to a psychiatrist and tell him you are having mystical experiences, He/she will not automaticly assume that that means you are having a psychotic episode. Currently any weird experience you might have is considered a sign of mental health Issues. I am not sure on exact details, I heard most in the Counselling course I was doing, and some from a Gestalt therapist friend (both sources are excited about the coming changes...) 'Apparently' the compilers for DSM-5 have been extensively researching Mystical experience and its observable effects on Mental health, and Interviewing the various people who work in this Field... There is Definitely plenty of research showing positive changes in the psyche after Mystical experience...

Hi Yuanqi, I am not sure If you should be as certain as you are on this subject. I think the details of your statements are mostly right, but how do you know which teachers have the proper Authorisation? My teacher was authorised by Swami Muktananda, (he has the papers...) and I was authorised by him. Different traditions probably have different teachings around the subject. The Siddha lineage which is a shaktipat tradition, (from what I know) would say that the Kriya Tradition is not a Shaktipat tradition - not in a denigrating my tradition is better than yours way - Just that Kriya teachers don't give it out nearly as often as the Siddha lineage which gives it out amply and empowers students to also give it out. I personally love both Traditions. Other Schools may say very different things again. My tradition does say that After Muktananda, Shaktipat became a Big Popular thing and thus many schools (that did not previously) began offering Shaktipat without having a tradition of it. I Personally do not have a problem with this. In my experience with Shaktipat which uses Mantra and Guru worship, the Energy still ultimately comes From Shakti herself, and I think as long as you love and are on Good terms with Shakti, Shaktipat will happen. So to wrap my point up, How can you be sure who is Authorised with out asking them? If some one wants it traditional they have a right to ask, but How can we be sure that someone who isnt authorised Isn't giving awesome Shaktipat? Maybe better than someone who is even? Peace and Blessings!

AUMM! God Bless! no problems, and for the Record I think Santi's a Legend for Doing the work he is Doing.
  19. An article about America

Cool So its spelled Chaves. From what I have heard from Travellers through that Area and from some South American friends, Its American propaganda saying he is screwing it, and American Interest's trying to make Him fail... My friends said there are grass roots community gardening projects springing up Everywhere there, and more often than not they are permaculture gardens. They have said the community effort is astounding on many levels, from capitalist/socialist business enterprises where every member of a business gets paid the same as the others, from janitor to chairman, equal cut of the profits, which of course means every member feels very Inspired to make the business work... On going to see a shrink, In the DSM-4 all mystical experiences are considered pathology with the various medications to be prescribed. But all this is changing. in 2013 the DSM-5 will be released, which considers Mystical experiences, Shamanic journeys... to be valid psychological experiences not requiring medication, but maybe requiring the expertise of a skilled navigator in these areas... And Sex, Awesome! I do agree that the Sacred Sex Industry and Pua stuff are reaching a lot of people and instilling many Ideas with a spiritual or potentially spiritual leaning to them. This is at the same time though where Porn is completely destroying many Mens ability to love or connect with a Woman. Its Interesting watching as more people start trying to become conscious, society has a pull in the other direction, where possibly many more people start priding themselves on being Dumb Asses. Look at the sudden spate of Hollywood movies portraying complete Dumb Asses as Hero figures... To me it still looks like the Majority are leading towards the future portrayed by Idiocracy (a badly written, acted and directed film with brilliant social commentary) but who knows... I do think Consciousness will win over in the end...
  20. An article about America

You could try a political stunt to get out... Apply to Cuba for refugee status... tell them you are trying to escape an Insane Government... Other than that, any country where the majority of the communities that make it up still live almost entirely off their own land, have a good chance to make it through any up coming rough patches... South America has many good things going for it. What do you think of Cheves (lol is that how you spell it?) Also, would Border patrol be expecting Illegal immigrants trying to get across in the other direction ?
  21. Questions for Goldisheavy

If God is outside time, questions of Begining's or endings to God are Meaningless. Or maybe God created time and is not subject to it?
  22. A god was key in saving Buddhism

Hi Vajra, it's good to see you back in action here but i find it kind of strange to see your Longchenpa quote under everything you write about 'not accepting or rejecting' as that seems to be the entire basis of your communication style. My friend was with Namkai Norbu at his last retreat here in Oz, and told me that there was a guy there who kept quoting Narga Juna, till Namkai cracked it at him, and said stop quoting that rubbish, it will only take you further from Rigpa... lol Not an exact quote but the gist of how he told me about it. Also, Mickhailz, on Dzogchen teachers Norbu Rinpoche is not particularly respected either. (which doesn't mean he doesn't have the goods...) Tulku Urgen for instance had a quite low opinion of Him and his students.
  23. Three

Hi all, Here is a heads up for a Fictional Novel written by some friends who call themselves Derelict Koan. I personally really enjoyed this read, but will probably struggle to give it a genre. It's Kind of like a mix of Grail Quest mythology, the Matrix (and other virtual reality sci-fi), the struggle between pessimist Gnostic and positive Gnostic views, Greek Myth and Taoist overtones with a dash of Philip k Dick. lol. I got to proof read it several years ago, and was worried, as I don't really like giving honest reviews to close friends about their art. Fortunately I found the read quite riveting. They have put a Huge amount of work into the book and the website gives a lot of support material. (obviously this is also where you purchase it ) http://www.derelictkoan.com/ Plus you'll get the Street Cred of having read it 'years ago' when it inevitably becomes a best seller! heheh
  24. Has a higher power ever saved your butt?

I once went to jump off, out the back door of a tram without looking to see if the cars had stopped. In fact they hadn't, and 1 large thing was flying on through regardless of possible emerging passengers. So basicly with one foot on the top step I carelessly jumped forward, and as this happened, a 'force unknown' pushed me back from mid air into the tram and the car rushed past. It felt like a palm to the chest. I have no idea what to give credit to -But Thanks!- and I am very happy that Natural Selection failed on that day
  25. Internal Organ Meditations

Hi Fellow Bum's I have been wondering for a while several questions about Internal Organ meditations so here goes... 1. What are the benefits? I guess different schools would say different things but I really do not know, so would love to hear... 2. What books/links, or which Teachers are a good source of info and/or actual methods that I could learn? 3. Does anyone have any methods that do not require a master that I could learn? 4. Is there difference between health methods and internal alchemy methods or do they bleed into each other? 5. does anyone wish to recount any experiences with these methods? 6. and finally what's the relationship [if any] between the liver and the heart? Thanks everyone, I look forward to your wonderful answers Seth.
