Consider this: is this any worse than, let's say, burning down the Amazonian rain forest to produce cheap burgers?

Well, people will be next...not to eat, but for replacement parts. While this seems possibly admirable in the case of medical problems (replacing cancerous organs or amputated limbs), I have no doubt that the real growth area in this field will be for cosmetic surgical purposes. e.g. cloned celebrity body parts, etc.

You're right, I didn't read it closely! -

Since the initial posting was about Taoism, shouldn't this have been posted in the Taoist Forum? -
Hi Shepherd, Just to let you know, since you are a new member of the forum, FYI there are probably hundreds of posts about this topic in the archives, which you can access using the search box up above. I don't think that you'll find any consensus, although certain themes will emerge if you read enough of them.

Another alternative view. Staggering in it's profundity (profoundness?), it highlights some of the the differences between love and Tao, the watercourse way...

This is quite striking visually. Apparently the two of them did all of the work involved by themselves: Jesus of Malibu

Does the reincarnated Lao Tzu or Lord Buddha need an energy transmission?
Dainin replied to tulku's topic in General Discussion
Only Master Li Hongzhi could possibly possess the power to provide an energetic transmission to these Avatars! -

Trunk, do you think that by lying on one's back and drawing both knees in towards the chest (holding the knees or shins for assistance), and then gently increasing and decreasing the distance between the knees and chest, that it would have a similar effect to what you have illustrated? This is called wind relieving pose in yoga. I've noticed that doing this seems to massage the sacrum and tail bone area.

Hi Golden, it looks like you are a registered user, so you should be able to view them. If you want to start your own forum, send a message to Mal (one of the moderators), I think he is the one that creates them.

I believe that there is a feature in this forum that allows you to block the posts of any user that you select if you don't want to read what they write. Personally, I don't feel the need to do this because it is easy enough for me to evaluate the content of a thread and decide if I want to read it or not...and also, sometimes members whose posts I tend not to read do come up with gems. I find many of the threads about special powers and the "best and highest" practices to be as tedious or worse than the Buddhist ones.

I read this book years ago, as well as another by the same author called Riding with the Lion and enjoyed them both. I think I was inspired to read these by Dr. Glenn Morris, who had some stuff about Greek Orthodox Christianity in his last book Martial Arts Madness. It may have been written by one of his students, but was pretty interesting. There was a piece on the Monks of Mount Athos on 60 Minutes a month or two ago that was really cool, and can probably be found online.

Indonesian Qigong Masters are more powerful than the Chinese
Dainin replied to tulku's topic in General Discussion
Back when I was in high school a long time ago, in the distant land of Queens, New York, it was alleged (although I never saw it myself) that there were certain young masters who had the miraculous ability to produce a fireball by igniting their farts with a lighter. Imagine the benefits if they had chosen to share this gift with the world: an endless supply of free energy...and just think about the possible combat applications. Incredible! It is my belief that their special abilities probably exceeded those of the masters in Indonesia, China, India and Tibet. Unfortunately, it appears that they have ascended. But if you kowtow and write a check for $3600.00, they may return to share their gift with you...
