  1. Here is some information that will help you on your quest to find the most advanced, highest system: Falun Dafa: "Among all the theories in the world, it is the most intricate and extraordinary science." The Supreme Master is Supreme Master Ching Hai. She is God's Direct Contact. God is the Divine Avatar Adi Da Beyond God is the experience of the presence of Xenu. But I can't talk about that... Best of luck on your journey to achieve special powers, the only true measure of mastery.
  2. Kill your self...importance :)

Damn it Steve, could you at least put in a spoiler alert if you're going to post things like this!
  3. Opening the Kundalini: How?

It sounds like Body of Light has returned from the Himalayas!
  4. Arizona Shing Yi Chuan Association This guy, Tom Morrissey, was the senior student of the late Master Kenny Gong, who taught in NYC for many years, and was said to have been a fine healer as well as martial artist.
  5. Now I remember why I hate extreme christians

Infinity, if you hate THEM (extreme christians), aren't you playing the same game as they are, in a way? Hate the game, not the players!
  6. Should I go to this year's Rainbow Gathering

My response: See if your girlfriend would be willing to agree to do a ten day silent Vipassana retreat or Zen sesshin with you. If her answer is yes, then go hang out with her and the hippies, and later have her come to a meditation (or related subject) retreat with you. Hopefully, this type of exchange of experiences outside of your respective comfort zones will lead to mutual growth, and not resentment.
  7. Multiple Practices?

The wording of the items in the poll doesn't seem to allow for the possibility of someone sticking with one practice from the beginning, but adding in additional ones without giving up the original one...or periodically cycling practices in and out of one's rotation. I chose item 3, but it's not really an accurate description in my opinion.
  8. Neigung styles and teachers?

I came across this today on Amazon. Sounds very interesting. I have one of Bisio's other books, "A Tooth from the Tiger's Mouth: How to Treat Your Injuries with Powerful Healing Secrets of the Great Chinese Warriors", which I thought was quite good. Nei Gong: The Authentic Classic: A Translation of the Nei Gong Zhen Chuan "Nei Gong: The Authentic Classic, (Nei Gong Zhen Chuan) is an obscure text of unknown origin, yet it stands alone as the definitive text on internal energy and the generation of internal power. Hand copied, and passed from teacher to student, it is one of the "secret transmissions" of Chinese martial arts. Nei Gong: The Authentic Classic, is a practical manual on internal energy development and its fundamental importance in the martial arts and fa jin (emitting force). It draws heavily on Daoist meditation and alchemical practices which are said to promote health and longevity. The text is divided into four sections: 1. Nei Gong Jing (Internal Energy Classic); 2. Na Gua Jing (Received Trigram Classic); 3. Shen Yun Jing (Transported Spirit Classic); 4. Di Long Jing (Earth Dragon Classic), which are meant to be read in order. In this way the reader is guided step by step through the details of Nei Gong practice, and in the Di Long Jing, its application to self-defense. Translated by a team of experts, the text is accompanied by extensive footnotes and diagrams that clarify the more obscure passages which otherwise pre-suppose a knowledge of Daoist texts and imagery from the I-Ching (Book of Changes). The appendices further explicate the relationship of Nei Gong: The Authentic Classic to the internal martial art Xing Yi Quan."
  9. I think that the OP would benefit from a viewing of The Silent Flute (aka Circle of Iron), a 1970s David Carradine movie that addresses the issue of travelling to remote regions in search of the "highest masters" and "The Answer". Bruce Lee and James Coburn co-wrote the script if I remember correctly...
  10. Dainin is the name given to me by my Zen sensei when I took the Jukai ceremony (accepting the precepts). It means "great patience", which he said could be descriptive or prescriptive! The guy in my avatar is Ibn Sinna aka Avicenna, a historical figure that I have a lot of respect for.
  11. chi running

Possible connections? Lung-Gom-Pa: Runners of Tibet Tarahumara People A lot of followers of the guru Sri Chinmoy were/are involved in running ultras. I don't know if they combined yogic techniques with their running, but I wouldn't be surprised...

  13. Versaclimer

Hi Mal, I still remember the first time I ever saw one of those: it was in that Rocky movie where he fights the Russian, Ivan Drago. I've never tried one myself, but it looks as if it would be a pretty intense workout. It's quite expensive, so it would definitely be a good idea to try it out first before investing. I've had a similar "crush" on a pricey piece of exercise equipment for years too: Concept2: the World's Best Rowing Machine My road bike has been sitting on one of those indoor turbo trainers for a few years, but I haven't used it a really long time. So I'm wary that if I buy the rower, it would suffer the same fate! But I've been hearing a lot lately about the benefits of sprint interval workouts. Dr. Mercola has some videos showing his 10 minute interval workout. It was pretty intense! I might try it on my bike. Good luck on achieving your health goals...
  14. Qi and charisma

Hello dmattwads, While I'm not familiar with Dr. Yang's version of Yi Jin Jing, I've worked some with the version taught by Jesse Tsao, and also with the book and DVD published by Singing Dragon (they are essentially the same). My experience of the form is that it is more along the lines of 8 Section Brocade...one that is good for stretching and opening the meridians, but maybe doesn't cultivate and build qi as much as some other forms. I find these (8SB and YJJ) good to do near the beginning of a session, along with stuff like joint loosening exercises, bouncing and shaking, and silk reeling type exercises. You asked about Primordial Qigong earlier. This is a fairly simple form that gathers qi from heaven and earth in four directions, said to be of Wudang origin. There are some threads about it one here that you could look up in the archives that recommend different resources to learn it from. I find this to be an effective practice for the qi building phase of a session. Some other ones that I like for this phase are the Golden Ball Exercise (very simple to do, on the very good Jerry Alan Johnson DVD); Pan Gu Shen Gong, and Fragrance Qigong. You might also want to give spinal breathing pranayama (AYP) and breath of fire (Kundalini Yoga) a try as well. I've found both of them to be energizing and mood enhancing. Of course, get enough sleep, eat well, blah, blah, blah...good luck.
  15. End of the world is May 21st.

The world is ending and being reborn continually...
  16. a mentor

Dynamic Regimen: Nutrition and Health Counseling Karen Robinson used to be a regular poster on this forum a while back. I never worked with her personally, but she seemed to really know her stuff. You could search the archives to see if her ideas resonate with you. Good luck...
  17. cutting myself out of the loop

VINCENT So if you're quitting the life, what'll you do? JULES That's what I've been sitting here contemplating. First, I'm gonna deliver this case to Marsellus. Then, basically, I'm gonna walk the earth. VINCENT What do you mean, walk the earth? JULES You know, like Caine in "KUNG FU." Just walk from town to town, meet people, get in adventures. VINCENT How long do you intend to walk the earth? JULES Until God puts me where he want me to be. VINCENT What if he never does? JULES If it takes forever, I'll wait forever. VINCENT So you decided to be a bum? JULES I'll just be Jules, Vincent -- no more, no less. VINCENT No Jules, you're gonna be like those pieces of shit out there who beg for change. They walk around like a bunch of fuckin' zombies, they sleep in garbage bins, they eat what I throw away, and dogs piss on 'em. They got a word for 'em, they're called bums. And without a job, residence, or legal tender, that's what you're gonna be -- a fuckin' bum! JULES Look my friend, this is just where me and you differ -- VINCENT -- what happened was peculiar -- no doubt about it -- but it wasn't water into wine. JULES All shapes and sizes, Vince. VINCENT Stop fuckin' talkin' like that! JULES If you find my answers frightening, Vincent, you should cease askin' scary questions. VINCENT When did you make this decision -- while you were sitting there eatin' your muffin? JULES Yeah. I was just sitting here drinking my coffee, eating my muffin, playin' the incident in my head, when I had what alcoholics refer to as a "moment of clarity." VINCENT I gotta take a shit. To be continued.
  18. I have no proof, but I tend to think that humans may be stranded aliens, or at least hybridized with them. They (we) just seem too different from every other life form on earth...all the extra crap that is needed for our survival, all the non-biodegradable garbage we produce, all the bizarre cultural manifestations (such as the existence of this forum, lol!). You're right about one form of life feeding on another...but usually not to the extent of exterminating the resource. Or destroying it's natural habitat. Things are way out of balance. Perhaps our friends in the UFOs are our brethren, here to "rescue" us, or move us on to the next place to exploit! (The "Rapture"?) But I tend to think they are not here to attack us, because we seem to be on course for a massive die off before too long anyway.
  19. Worried about space aliens and extradimensional beings? There are already creatures on this planet systematically wiping out all other life forms. Guess who?
  20. Bigu diet and The Three Worms

Note to Non: Gabriel Cousens is doing a workshop in Miami this Sunday: Spiritual Nutrition
  21. I dont get "morning wood"

I wonder how many thousands of words Non's genitalia have inspired on this forum?
  22. Dr. Love is having a workshop in Nevada City, California next week: Blue Dragon Qigong and Taoist Medicine Classes with Dr. George Love If you are in that area, I would highly recommend checking him out if you can. I studied qigong with him on the beach here in Boca Raton on a weekly basis, for 5 or 6 years until my work schedule changed. His Meridian Qigong (aka Blue Dragon) is an excellent form. He has always taken a multimodal approach, addressing nutrition (juice "feasting"), emotion ("psychopuncture" tapping), and spirit (trance dancing, meditation, etc), among other things. He's had a lot of unusual experiences in his life. Really a remarkable person, and a lot of fun, as you can tell from the video. If you live in South Florida, he has a really cool holistic health center, the Zen Tea Lounge.
  23. Non, if you are attending TCM school, I sincerely hope that you work out your issues before you begin the clinical phase. I don't think that it would be ethical for you to needle anyone (and especially women) with your current mindset. That being said, it sounds like you are taking some steps in the right direction, e.g. kung fu classes, etc. Good luck...
  24. Tai Chi Ruler

Hi Ralis, I'm another person who finds this set interesting. Ken Cohen has a good historical section on tai chi ruler in his book. He also shows a few basic moves. The form was said to be developed by a Daoist recluse named Chen Xi Yi, and was practiced exclusively by the imperial family until revealed to the public by Zhao Zhongdao in Beijing in 1954. Both he and his mother (who transmitted it to him) were said to have lived to very old ages (over 100). Based on my research, it seems like there are two main lines in North America teaching this today. One is through Master Feng Zhi Qiang, who teaches the Hunyuan branch of Chen Tai Chi, and the other is through Taoist Master Share K. Lew. I haven't seen enough of the materials to see how different these branches are (if at all). Besides Sifu Dunn's book and video, here are some other people that have materials available on this set: Brett Wagland and Fontaine Ip (Australia) Yaron Seidman (USA) Carl Totton (USA) Bill Helm (USA) Ken Cohen is having a weekend workshop on it on June 3-5 in Massachusetts. I'm thinking about going if I can... PS: Wing Lam Enterprises sells the rulers for like $15.00
  25. The world is ending. This I know, for Li Hongzhi tells me so.
