  1. Here is a list of all the accredited acupuncture and oriental medical schools in the US: ACAOM Accredited and Candidate Schools There a few that have "Taoist" in their names. One is in North Carolina. Also, I think that the ones that have "Five Elements" in their name take a pre-TCM classical approach. I don't think that any of these are in Illinois. I believe that Yo San and Five Branches in California, and World Medicine Institue in Hawaii were founded by Taoists. Good luck!
  2. Seth Ananda please teach me about kundalini

Seth, thanks for sharing the cobra breath instructions. It sounds very similar to what Yogani (AYP) calls "Spinal Breathing Pranayama", except for the hissing exhale. I used to practice the Spinal Breathing quite often, it was a real mood elevator!

  4. Hello mewtwo, Now you are on the right track! It makes a great deal more sense to establish a foundation in the basics, instead of pursuing "special powers" before having this foundation. Here are some people that I know of that you can learn these forms from, and then go for certification in them: Jesse Tsao: Tai Chi Healthways Michael Gilman: Gilman Studio Practice with dedication, and good luck!

  6. A gift for Non and other lust-driven men

So I guess that lust-driven women don't get to receive your "gift"! Lol! Personally, I don't find anything too repulsive or impure about our human body parts. They have all evolved and work together for the purpose of our survival. This approach seems more imbalanced than lust. Congratulations on reaching enlightenment though!
  7. master zhou why does he use tinfoil?

So apparently Jeff Primack has added this guy to the bill for his next "Qi Revolution." "Master Zhou" is the "Fire" and Wim Hof is the "Ice". 8. Mozi Neidan Scam

John Chang demonstrated his special powers by igniting pieces of paper. The individuals involved here, seeking these special powers, witnessed their pieces of paper money ignited...is this a coincidence?
  9. Is there a preferred white rice?

I'll cast another vote for basmati 'cause I like the scent it produces when I cook it. Jasmine too. If your wife is pregnant you might want to look for organic varieties and minimize exposure to the pesticides.
  10. REBOUNDING

This page has a lot of interesting information about rebounding and rebounders: Symbiotic Exercising I don't think I would order directly from this site though; if you Google, there are some reports of customer service issues.
  11. Mongols Conquer Europe in 1241!

Sounds like it would make for a very cool, interesting novel and/or movie. You may want to check out some of Peter Kingsley's stuff. It's sort of speculative history on how the Mongols and Tibetans may have influenced ancient Greece, and therefore Western civilization subsequently. I've always thought that the beginnings of Tibetan medicine would make for a good novel or movie also. Supposedly in ancient times, the ruler of Tibet summoned doctors from many different cultures to some kind of medical conference, which led to the development of their medical system. So a number of different travel narratives could be woven together, along with the concepts of traditional medical systems. You could have ayurvedics coming from India, shamans from Siberia, Classical Chinese, Persians, etc. and getting into all sorts of adventures on their way to Tibet.
  12. John P. Milton's DVDs

In reply to question 1, yes, it is the same form that Michael Winn and Donald Rubbo teach, also known as Primordial Qigong. I haven't seen any of Milton's other materials though.
  13. Dancing Qigong Video

Thought some of you might enjoy this video by one of my teachers, Dr. George Love: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNesHlX_uIs
  14. I took a tai chi class for a while where the teacher had three levels going at one time. So it turned out that the senior students wound up doing a lot of the teaching, not the teacher himself, although he would go around making comments and suggestions to each group. Ultimately I decided a preferred a class with one group, it was less distracting for me. I think that the teacher you're interested in should allow you to observe a class before making a committment. Good luck!
  15. Is Capoeira the Supreme Martial Art?

    Tulku...of course!
  16. new

The Tao that can be known is not Tao, so you're on the right track...welcome!
  17. Measuring meditation

Ed, I received an e-mail from Bodri a few days ago that mentions a book coming out in the summer that will provide a more concise approach to what he has been writing about in his longer books, in case that would be useful to you: "First, some good news. While we're working on getting the new Hercules gong-fu book done we're also preparing a simple book on how to meditate properly and set up a BASIC meditation practice schedule that produces results. Yes results, not the type of talk you would hear on Oprah that meditation is making someone relaxed and less stressful. Real spiritual gong-fu results. I don't want you to practice years and seemingly get nowhere, so what you need to do to get real, solid gong-fu will be in this small forthcoming book. Most people get results in two years or less when they do these things (much sooner usually) so I'm boiling all the schools down to a simple list of To Do's for you. The book will be simple. Topics included will be the basic principles of meditation, vipassana-mindfulness-witnessing practice, pranayama exercise, mantra, the skeleton visualization method, gongfu, detoxification, sexual practice, diet and offering. Just simple stuff that's basic practice 101. If you want to reduce practice down to its basics, those basics will be covered in this short book. Expect it in mid-Summer. If there's anything you want covered in a super simple, super short book, then let me know by email."
  18. shaktipat

I think that there is a feature on here where you can choose to ignore posters of your choice. There was a thread about it during the past few days. I think some people invoked it in response to the same issue that is troubling you.
  19. Thank you, that was very helpful.
  20. Hi ShaktiMama, In your view, would Sifu Jenny's practices blend well with the KAP practices? If I wanted to learn her methods from the DVD, but was also doing the KAP work, would it be better to do separate sessions (like do one in the AM and one in the PM), or could they be stacked together or blended in some way? Thanks in advance.
  21. shaktipat

Congratulations and best wishes for your new service. I hope you will help many people.
  22. SSTT Energy Work

I think that there were some threads on here that this Sifu Hata participated in a few years ago. As I recall, he was getting into it with one of the members here about something called "Spirit Fighting" and his teachers in Hawaii (and their special powers). There may have been some connection with Kunlun Max too. You may want to search the archives. It seemed kind of strange to me...
  23. What Books are by Your Bed?

I also have far too many waiting to be read, and have pledged a moratorium against adding any more books in 2011 (Trying to "cut through spiritual materialism!). Here are a few in my stack: Hardcore Zen: Brad Warner Realizing Genjokoan: Shohoku Okumura Reality: Peter Kingsley Total Health the Chinese Way: Esther Ting Four Hour Body: Timothy Ferriss Yoga Beyond Belief: Ganga White Chants of a Lifetime: Krishna Das Living with the Himalayan Masters: Swami Rama Introduction to Sufism: Eric Geoffrey Awakening the Sacred Body: Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche (Last purchase of 2010!) I'll still buy some DVDs and CDs in 2011 though...can't go completely cold turkey just yet!
  24. External Meditation vs Internal Meditation

Why put them in opposition? Do both.
