  1. Are there any good resources on how to

No, I'm not being escapist, in fact I have a very active social life. And I didn't become a librarian to escape, I did it because I like to help people find information. Perhaps I was phrasing things the wrong way. Perhaps I should ask, how do I practice daoism? After all, this site has a forum for people's practice journals. I find it hard to believe you don't do anything to practice the philosophy. I'm just trying to overcome some bad habits, that's all.
  2. Taoist Afterlife

Thanks for all the informative responses. Perhaps I should view death as just another reality to be experienced, another transition to a different state of being. Sometimes I say to myself "I don't know what happens after death--I'll find out when I die." I still try to incorporate Buddhist teachings in my life, but I was always very skeptical of the notion of rebirth, even now, so I don't see it as necessary to give myself a religious label anymore. I find the Taoist indifference to what happens after death very appealing, because it allows me to focus more on this life.
  3. Can anyone recommend good Tai Chi DVDs?

Thank you guys for your advice. I am driving up to Denver tomorrow to attend a free one hour Tai Chi instruction course at the Denver public library. I think the teachers are affiliated with the Tai Chi Project.
  4. Hello Everyone

Hello everybody, I found this site while doing a search on yahoo.com. I'm coming here to learn more about Daoism in order to apply it to my daily life. I'm also a registered member of the Buddhism forum called e-sangha.com. However, I'm finding that my beliefs are more closely aligned with philosophical Daoism than the religion of Buddhism; though I am going to continue to incorporate Buddhist teachings into my daily living. (I really am becoming skeptical about the Buddhist teachings on karma and rebirth, so I won't call myself "Buddhist" as such.) What draws me to Daoism is its emphasis on living in moderation and in harmony with the universe. Anyway, I'd just thought I would share a little about myself.
