why it works, I don't know. How it works. In me when I started I found a source of raw double cream in London. I bought some 10 glasses, and then I party-ed at the speed of one a day. Mixed with unheated honey. After I would feel very sleepy while feeling my whole nasal area totally blocked. I would go to bed (at 4 pm), and then wake up 2 hours later with the emptiest nasal cavities in the region and beyond. Now, I don't suffer from allergies, but I heard similar stories from the people in the (closed) yahoo forum on primal diet. If you are interested in the source: Aajonus Vonderplanitz: "We want to live", is the book.

Have anyone tried Polyphasic sleep: http://www.stevepavlina.com/blog/2005/10/polyphasic-sleep/ Seems interesting. After eating raw meat, making love with plants, sungazing, hanging weights to your testicles, this seem a must have in the neo-global-taoist-nut trick-hat. Be sure to read the day 60 report: http://www.stevepavlina.com/blog/2005/12/p...-update-day-60/

I might, but not now. I think chosing the right period is crucial. I wouldn't do it if I had such a tight schedule. I think the right way to proceede is to wait for summer, and maybe vacations and do it then. The risk, of course is that you lose it as soon as you come back. In any case, before doing it, I want to: read everything that is available on the net on the topic. Maybe buy the book and read that too. Make sure I have no big important things I need to do for AT LEAST 3 weeks. For example, next wednesday I am giving a talk here at the uni. I cannot risk being tired. At the end of march there is a workshop with Bruce. One week. If I start after my talk I would be doing it only by one month. Too little to put myself under such an energetic oven. Maybe easter vacations might be a good time to try. It is also warmer. I will be working, but no one else will be, thus I will not have office meetings. Reading this guy blog, it seem extreemly important that it should be like jumping in cold water. No slow entrance. Yoda idea of just taking naps, is ok, but will not make you poliphasic, and will not move you from a day to day experience, to a one continuous stretch of time. And this psichological change is what I am actually after. But I have no experience. I am just repeating what I read on the blog. So, I might, but later. P.S. it would be fun if we all do it together. I am sure we would help each other a lot. Pietro Interesting. What standing positions do you use? What techinques do you use to change the chi into shen?

would you care to say more about it? One of the reasons I am not into retention is because it fucked up my mind.

Those techniques, conscious dream, poly sleep, Poly relationships , are all much easier if you have no internal dialogue & if you live the life of a monk (tao monks are great in poli relationships! ) . One of the thing that came out in the blog I refered to, is that babies are naturally polyphasic. We learn night cycle later. And much of the work in taoism is about going back to when we were near the tao, like babies. So no doubt that if you are there, all those techniques are just doors that automatically open. The question remains, how much can you open thos doors... before you have reached that level. And each thing might help you to progress or hinder you.

Yes, it makes me wonder how hard would it be to bring it to the next level where you can explain your body to live the next week as poliphasic, or as monophasic. So that if you are on a strict schedule, maybe at a conference, or a workshop, and the time does not permit to be poliphasic you are just poliphasic for some days, and then you switch back. I remember it took me a lot of time to switch to primal diet, and the first time I had to go back to normal diet because I was at a workshope in crete and I just did not have the time to go looking for the food, was fairly ok. When I went back was again a pain in the ass. But then, the next time I visited Italy, and was less precise with food, my body seemed to take it better. I don't know if I just did not make the switch, or with time the body learns to work on both operational modes. And yes, Sean, most comments I hear for people are along the lines: "yes, interesting, maybe one day...". We need to pave the road, or sleep trying!

After the wiki page on Ron, I would like to write a wiki page on what to do about prostate congestion. This should include info on why it congests. Anybody knows the detail without making me go through 10000 pages of Dr.Lin? Speaking about what to do about it, I listed some techniques: 1) power lock (suggested by Ron) as a way to decongest 2) ejaculating (suggested by common doctors, and meditators before you are ready to deal with the extra sexual energy), both during love making and masturbation. 3) massage: Aneros (suggested by Plato first, than many others here) 4) massage: hand massage What am I missing? Can breathing be used to decongest the prostate? I noticed that if I dissolve the area I feel less sexually driven; yet I don't seem to be able to dissolve forever. Squatting? Anything else? I have then a vague memory of someone (Harry Pain?) saying that those techniques were actually taking away spiritual energy, and it should instead be cristalized. And on this note (since I am now dumping all I know on the topic), we should refer to the cristals that high level meditators generate in their body (what is the cristals technical name?). Yet, nuns, are known (ref. Chia book on healing love) for having a higher then average cancer at the ovaries. Is the equivalent true for monks also? I think I read that men with an active sexual life have lower prostatic problems than singles. Thus "something" has to be done to avoid this. Any help, here or in the wiki, in gathering the material, discussing or actually editing the article will be appreciated. Pietro

I don't remember Eric being a fan of this practice. Nor do I remember it even being cited in his 100 days book. Do you remember more details to support your claim? And regarding HT instructors. If a 'would be instructor' at the exam claims that the finger method is safe, he fails the exam. Point. Even if for the rest he is perfect. Saw this happening. I totally agree with Keith that you should keep suspicion high and not accept something just because it is written in a book.

Thanks. I don't think I could massage the tip of my penis without warming up the energy instantly , but should be added nevertheless. BTW, nice image. Can I use it? Pietro

So, I did some editing in the wiki, and started reorganising and integrating the info. Give it a look. http://taotewiki.net/RonJeremyTeachings

Hello, Yoda, eventually I started my own version of a Tao Wiki. I called it the Tao Te Wiki. I made a page on it with your post, and I intend to add any other contribution that comes up. Personally I would add: the importance of having a straight intention. That is, you REALLY must want not to ejaculate. This links to dream practice to avoid having wet dreams. P.S. Have you got Al email address? Pietro

Raw dairies. In particular raw unpastourised cream, and raw unpastourised milk will help you.

There was a taobum from Nantucket Whose balls were the size of a bucket. He would walk by cliff Keeping his penis stiff, Hanging to his balls, a wine bucket!

Ah, that Gandhi.

Hard to believe. Can you give me a reference for that (I just ended his autobiography and this event was not there, while there was the only time he hit one of his students, and how he started shaking afterwards)

I remember David (Verdesi, Shen) using one of those stone egg under his bum. Probably for similar reason. At the time I though it was to work as a grounding wire. It was not just a stone, but some sort of precious stone. No, I don't think it was jade, yet I don't remember what stone type was.

In the water method you don't hold your breath, in fact we work hard not to stop breathing at all, as this is the moment when you get more easily distracted. But the breath is made smooth, continuous and Looooooooooooooooooooooooong. Until you enter into chi breath. So I suppose there might be some relation. BTW I think also Osho use to go through his crises by throwing himself in the gorges of a river. But it might be more a need for adrenaline. Pietro

Thanks for the undeserved compliments. I have been using del.icio.us to store my bookmarks from quite some time by now. http://del.icio.us/pietrosperoni/meditation http://del.icio.us/pietrosperoni/taoism http://del.icio.us/pietrosperoni/healingtao ... the nice thing is that you can add different keywords for each bookmark, which makes them easier to find back. It would be a nice thing if people from this meatcommunity (taobum/thetaobums/ht/...) started using them as well. I know Sean have a delicious account too. And we could use the keyword 'taobum' for everything that we want to bring to each other's attention. So if anybody else is using delicious it would be a good if they say so. ADDENDUM: meatcommunity stands for metacommunity

I think you all know my utter fascination with Wiki, right? Well, there is a wiki site called "WikiHow" which is essentially a wiki of tips on how to do things: build a bike, get a free massage, etc... Well, looking around there I found the How to become a Taoist page. So here are the essential steps: 1) Read the Tao Te Ching 2) Research Taoism further. Many translations can be found in bookstores, libraries and on the world wide web. 3) If you find it appealing, you can call yourself a Taoist. Isn't this wonderful? So simple and direct. I was a Taoist pretty much all my life and I never knew it. WTF! Being a wiki we can add things and modify things. So here is my suggestion... What was according to you the point after which you started considering yourself a Taoist? Did you need a formal initiation, or when you started practicing taoist practices, or what?
-
For me the big change was when I realised my values where more near taoist values than values from any other recognisable moral-ethical system.

You know, I really don't know. It is just plain obvious. But I understand your point. It wasn't always so. I even remember making love with a woman just because she was virgin and liked me. So I would say it was a sort of trial and error that eventually led me to distinguish between false desire coming from the monkey mind and desire coming from chemistry. But still, even now, when I go with a woman I keep my senses open and I always pay attention to the signals of my body. Sometiems I feel a great attraction for a woman, and as we approach I discover that it was an intellectual attraction, and sex is just going to be very clumsy. BTW I remember Juan Lee asking to the I Ching every morning: "Am I supposed to marry the girl I met yesterday evening at the pub?" And the I ching would always answer:"Wait, there are things you don't know." Eventually the I Ching answered: Success! Work to be done. And he commented, of course, She is not perfect . Then they got married and every time theyhad a fight he would go back looking at that hexagram of the iching and wondering: I must have misunderstood something of this hexagram somwhere

I actually once walking in Dortmund felt I was unambiguously in front of a Buddha Dog. He was walking being kept on a leash by his master, but by the composture, the walk, the air of obvious superiority you could cleraly distinguish who the Real Master was. And how he just permitted that human being (really His student) to be cought in the illusion that he was superior. Probably just to teach him better.

Dunno, seem to me fairly obvious if someone's energy is compatible or not. But I had quite a nice time imagining you, closed in the toilet, with a beautiful chick wanting to make love just outside and asking you out, while you are trying hard to concentrate: "Oh pendulum, pendulum of wonders, do tell me the truth, is this girl ok for me or not ?"
