  1. the Three Pure Ones

it would be interesting to find the relation between the 3 pure ones and the tan tien. I know it's a one to one relation, although I never remember which is related with which :-(. But I suspect there might be practices that connect the two, the external representation with the internal field.
  2. Just heard a wonderful talk: http://edge.org/3rd_...ky09_index.html It's worth the 25 minutes. It looks like there are sometimes of bugs that live and can only reproduce inside a cat. Those bugs, called Toxo, when they are eaten by mouse they make him go crazy, lose fear of cat, love the smell of cat urine, and change its behavior in ways that make it more susceptible to end up in a cat stomach. Wow. Especially because for all the rest the mouse behavior is unchanged. Still have the other normal fears. Now the next part: people who have been in touch with this bug also change their behavior. They have 4 times more probability of dying of high speed accident on the highway, there is a correlation with schizophrenia (as TAXO when it gets in the brain releases dopamine). Recently it has also been reported for those individuals a higher probability of taking cats names on online discussion groups, use feline avatar, and see cats as embodiment of higher spiritual beings. Suddenly the idea of getting healthy starts to be to get rid of all those bugs (or at least to realize when your action are produced by them). What an interesting time to be living in! your meows?
  3. People going crazy because of bugs

I think you are refering to this: http://www.livescience.com/culture/080812-contraceptive-smell.html which has an interesting follow up: http://www.livescience.com/culture/stress-mating-preferences-100309.html When the volunteers looked at the erotica, relaxed men found nudes whose faces resembled them more pleasant. Stress, on the other hand, made the men reverse their preferences. And I love the possible explenation the researcher put forward: When times are dangerous, the researchers conjectured men might not want women too similar to them, as inbreeding might lead to offspring not genetically diverse enough to deal with the varying circumstances that a risky and stressful environment might impose on them.
  4. Hello, I have the CD (although not here), but I don't understand the question. Whatever your CD have as size me CD will also have so, I don't see the possibility for the size in your CD being different from the size in my CD. The only person that could help you is Bruce himself or the person making the recordings that could tell you if the original recording in studio was longer. Not something easy to find out

  7. Master Eric Yudelove

Yeah, about 11 years. What about the: "you will sleep with a knife, you will" part. I think that was the best. I love your post and Keith's. I feel we three are just on the same page on this. And it's not accidental.
  8. Master Eric Yudelove

That's because his books are the only part that should matter. I know Eric from 1998. I have seen fall apart for the pain of being unable to help his ex wife. I have seen people attacking him at the time when he signed "senior instructor", and I have seen responding with style, humor and sometimes anger. I am happy that he is back. What I am seeing here is a mere reproduction of what I have seen again and again. With Eric emailing the powers (at the time it was James), protesting for how bad he has been treated. But I also have been helped by Eric when I was falling apart. Maybe the real change that has happened is that the board has matured. In the old times the board would fall in of guru-itis for any perspective leader that would come there. As we aged, and as new members with more diverse experience came in, we started being less and less susceptible to falling in stupor every time a new school, teacher master would come in. And this, I think, is a very healthy movement. But, you see, between falling into guru-itis, and becoming aggressively offensive there is a healthy middle way. Do you think you could walk that way? Beside, you really sound so angry: Look, I have placed in bold the words that look aggressive. Why are you so angry? Pietro
  9. Master Eric Yudelove

whose teachings are not recycling? There is an art in being able to explain things clearly. And Eric quite obviously have mastered that. If not anything else I can assure you that he is a master in that. Also, although most (but not all) of the techniques in Eric's books were taken from Mantak Chia, the way those techniques are done together is a technique in itself. And that I have never found anywhere else. I sign with my name, Eric signs with his name, who are you "fizix"? Pietro

Are you sure it's an index finger?

Hi Mal, it is not anymore my way. But it has been in the past. Taoist yoga and sexual energy build upon the 100 days. So you should work through the 100 days before going to the other book. What happened to the first part of the thread? I arrive late and all I found are posts deleted by their authors. Also I would suggest to wait until you have time in your schedule, leave aside the rest and do the program full time. You probably need to go through it a couple of times at least. The first time you need it just to learn the exercises. Then a second time you go through it in a more smooth way. Said all that, my experience is that the book work very well in stabilizing and moving the jing to chi, the chi to shen. I probably would put a bit of wu ji qi gung by the side (the one Michael teaches). But is just my intuition, take it or leave it :-)

Dear TaoMeow, the first time I read this I thought you were going to ask a question from me, now as I reread it, I have the sensation you are more thinking about asking a question about me. Absolutely, please feel free. If you are speaking science you should do it properly. Cite me passages from peer reviewed papers. And I will humbly read them. The fact is that being outstanding in a field does not make you superhuman, and many people reach top level in a field, just to start saying silly claims in others. This is why it is important to hear the top people what they have to say... in the field they became so good. FOr example Ilya Prigogine is a well known scientist who studied physics. But after that in Physics he is considered someone who is now doing philosophy. That's why the peer review process is so important. Even those big person will (mostly) be blocked from speaking nonsense if they are going to be peer reviewed. (Or else the editor is in trouble). Also another reason why giving the reference is important. Some days ago drewhempel told us that source. But then when I read the paper I could not find what Drew was claiming: and again later: (all those are in the same thread). I am not telling you this to recover some old threads or poke at Drew. It is just that when you start to do the (boring) job of tracking down references, and read them, in the light of the claims that are being made thanks to them, often you find that the article did not at all claimed that. although this job is boring, I have to say in our spiritual context I find it really important. If not of course you can always not ask for Science to cover and support your claims, and I will be absolutely ok with that. With great respect, looking forward for your I Ching readings. Pietro
  15. Dealing with Lust

you are 20, you have a girlfriend, she is near (2 hours distance means you can see her every week end, at least), you have a healthy strong vibrant lusty body and you are trying to be celibate for weeks??? are you out of your mind?! Don't walk, run toward your girlfriend and enjoy every second you are with her. Take her as she will never be taken in her whole life. What you are living is special, don't fuck it up with mental projections of what it should be. And you do not need to give up your lust. Not at 20. Not when you have a girlfriend. And, especially, not at 20 when you have a girlfriend.

MAL!!! (Taomeaw, thanks for the offer, I am honored. Let me finish the paper I am writing, I have a deadline today, then I'll get back at you)

Well, don't worry about that. 90% of the questions from Chinese people are on similar topics.

which part of: did you miss? So you don't know a situation, you throw the I Ching, this gives you an answer, and you are happy with that. Good! This has nothing to do with Science, in the sense that you cannot apply science to that. You cannot even deny it. Science can only be applied to claims that can be disproved. And it's not science that I use, it's common sense. And once you look into it you will see that the scientific method is nothing more but common sense, formalized. Later as, when you are one with the universe? Yes, then I agree. Regarding the I Ching purpose... maybe, or maybe not. Regarding my destiny, surely not. TM, I did not want to raise all this, I said I did not use it for divination, I was asked why, and I answered. If I ruffled some of your whiskers just ignore me.
  19. Today I tried to live simply and frugally

Why when you feel like taking a juice don't you take a freshly squeezed orange juice. This will give you sugars. Also if you have access to raw butter (unpastorized) you can mix that with honey, and that will let you get out without going through a rollercoast ride. In many places unpastorized butter is illegal. You can use raw avocado mixed with honey, but use a real mixer, a spoon will not do. The point is to have always healthy alternatives to whatever your body needs. Every time your body needs something satisfy the need but in a healthy way. Eventually your body will learn.

Have you tried to actually read the book? I am not being vicious, I am really asking. This is a book that has the 64 situation where you will be in life. And each situation has 6 ways in which it can manifest. I found the best way to use it is to learn each of the situation, very well. So that once you are in life, and you are in a particular situation you can apply the I Ching lesson for that situation. You are having a hard time with someone? apply hexagram 6. Waiting? Use hexagram 5. Want to ask someone to teach you? reread hexagram 4. What's the point of selecting a random one and expecting that to magically mirror the situation. I know people will tell you that the quantum situation of the holographic universe mirrors each other, so that if a donkey farts in the second universe this will have an effect in the way you extract the i ching so that the result is exactly what is should have been, Honestly... I think it's bullshit. Unless you have reached the point which Bruce describes in this video, where you can syncronize with the energy of the universe, the idea that you take a random i-ching hexagram, and that is magically the right situation, is about, hmm, 1 in 64. (and I am being generous not considering the changing lines) This does not take away the exercise (very good) of taking a random hexagram to let you learn different aspects about a situation. This is a very good exercise. And surely every situation has way more than 64 aspects, and 64 point of view. Which is why it is so easy to get into the state (delusional, according to me), that the situation you have extracted really represents the situation. But since most of what happens to us does not matter, we do not notice. I have been in situation where the I Ching really helped me out. I threw the coins, and it would make no sense. Or make a partial sense, but a few days later I was back there, meaning the solution I have found was just an illusion, a delusion. And then I read all of them one time, and one of them was describing something I was really experiencing. I read that. And I reread it. And I really understood it. ANd it made a lot of sense. I applied it and my life changed. Once you start really reading the i-ching, and rereading it. And seeing how hexagrams come in pairs. And how they grow from birth to education, teaching, making a family, and onward. How it represents the life of a man (or a woman). Until you have seen all this, it really does not make much sense to cast the I-Ching. And once you have understood it all. Once you know all the 64 positions. Once you can be in any situation and instantly know: hmm, I am in this situation so I should do that. At that point why would you need to throw the i Ching at all. And if you want to know what Bruce says about the I Ching, he said: "read it 3 times, from top to bottom. Then ask me a question, not before. And if you can't perceive the psychic body do not throw the I Ching. Really. It makes no sense." So I don't throw the I Ching. I study it. And re study it. ANd this is why I really am looking for good translations. Thanks for the question, I was happy to share all this.

:-) in the mountain of himalaya the monks practice. They practice to bring the energy down the central channel, reach the dan tien and warm them they practice by having a wet blanked laid on them. Once the blanket is dry they take it off and take a new one. The dry blanket are laid one over the other on a pile on the side. At the end of the day the monk with the highest pile has won the game. be light have fun it's all in good spirit :-D

Please ignore jK comment, over here. Most people here are devoting an amazing amount of time, both in terms of hours and years in understanding Taoist philosophy. As such I find the discussions to be extremely good, and the level to be quite high. Surely not ignorant nor dumb. The topic, can people from one culture study the philosophy of another culture is an interesting topic in itself, but should have its own thread. From my point of view, I see this as an expression of hexagram 11 and 12, heaven under the earth, and heaven above the earth. When people study each other philosophy we experience union, when people just look at their own garden we experience separation.
